ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY STEPHENIE TALKS TWILIGHT & MORE

Entertainment Weekly has an in depth interview with Stephenie Meyer including some very HAPPY news. Read more below:

With her beloved book finally hitting the big screen, Twilight author Stephenie Meyer sat down with EW for an in-depth interview about the Rob Pattinson casting controversy, Breaking Dawn’s mixed reception, the deal with Edward and Bella’s big kiss, and what she’s working on next.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: First and foremost, what was it like seeing your story on the big screen?

STEPHENIE MEYER: I was terrified for days in advance before I saw Twilight for the first time. I was so worried that it was going to be horrible and break my heart. I’d seen things that were really good, but for all the time I’d spent on the set, I’d probably seen 10 minutes of the movie altogether. So I asked if it was okay if some of my friends watch with me because I have these great friends who are really positive and they love everything! I was really worried about it but we got in there and they put it on and I had my paper and my pen because it was a rough cut and I wanted to give feedback on things I felt needed to be changed. And I didn’t write a single thing down because I was so involved. The characters were speaking the way they should and the heart was there. I could have watched it all night in a loop if I could have.

Why did you demand that Edward and Bella’s big kissing scene be toned down?

The problem is if you’re going to continue with the other movies, there’s a very gradual build to their physical relationship. And what Edward is capable of when he first meets Bella changes very much by the time he’s become more committed to the relationship. They reshot the first kiss scene and actually added a special effect and some really cool things that added so much. And it’s the only kiss scene.

You also asked for some minor script changes and insisted on Kellan Lutz’s casting as Emmett. Did you always feel comfortable putting your foot down?

My personality is such that I have a really hard time being critical with other people. I can be critical of myself all day long. But I hate to step in and say, ‘’I really wish this was different.'’ But it’s been good for me just in general to have to speak up because I am so invested in this. I’ve forced myself, like with the Emmett situation, to take a step forward and say, ‘’I don’t like this.'’ And that’s hard for me, but I’m glad of every time I did it and I don’t think I stepped on too many toes and everyone seems to still like me.

What do you think of Rob Pattinson?

He’s a very mesmerizing person to be around. He’s got such a compelling personality. I don’t think you’d want him for a boyfriend. And you couldn’t just be his friend because he’s terribly sexy!

Were you worried when fans were outraged over his casting?

It broke my heart. Because I’ve had my tiny bit of celebrity, I’m aware of how hurtful those things can be. I apologized to him for ruining his life. He said his mom was sending him links like, ‘’Oh no, they called you a gargoyle!'’ They just raked him over the coals. The way he took it was a lot more positive than the way I would’ve handled it. He was like, ‘’I'm going to prove them wrong. I’m going to go out there and prove them wrong.'’ The movie hasn’t come out yet and he’s won over 99.9 percent of the people who didn’t approve of him as Edward. And when they see the movie, oh my gosh, there’s no way not to love him! It’s really too bad in some ways because Twilight is going to be limited by the fact that this is a vampire romance and it’s basically aimed at teens. If not for that, his performance in my opinion is Oscar-worthy.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Backing up, have you recovered from the very split, very passionate response to Breaking Dawn?

STEPHENIE MEYER: It’s been hard. The book did so much better than I thought it would. So many more people read it than I thought would. And then the negative reaction was so much more than I was expecting. Everything was more! I knew that that was coming because I had read all of the expectations people had: ‘’If this doesn’t happen in the end, I’m going to burn the book!'’ I already knew the story so that didn’t affect what happened, it just made me nervous for it to come out. But in the end I just had to say, ‘’This is the way this story goes.'’ It’s almost like history to me. This is what happened! You can’t mess with what happened. But I’ve been surprised at how hard it is to have people in some senses turn on you. That’s weird for me. But it was weird to have people like me too.

Have you moved on?

It just got to the point where it was ruining my life to read these hate-filled, poisonous things about me. It was kind of horrifying. I really did have to learn to distance myself. I’m too negative of a person naturally, so I don’t need any extra negativity. I’m not an optimist. One hundred people can tell you, ‘’Oh, I love this, it’s so great!'’ and one person can say, ‘’I hate this, you’re stupid.'’ And that’s the one I listen to because that’s who I am. [Laughing] So I have to be careful.

Despite the negativity, was there some happiness for you after Breaking Dawn was published?

I didn’t feel the sense of completion when I finished the book. I felt the sense of completion when it was out there and knowing that the end capped the story. It’s real when it’s published. The whole story was there. Finished. Stand alone. And it wasn’t whether anybody liked it besides me — I’d done it. I felt a sense of crossing the finishing line. So that was really positive.

When you returned home after a grueling tour for Breaking Dawn, you discovered that your unfinished manuscript for Midnight Sun had leaked onto the Internet, and you released a statement saying you were permanently shelving the story. Do you still feel the same?

The funny thing about that statement is I didn’t actually write the majority of it. I wrote about three single-spaced Word document pages of just real pain — with sort of a laugh on the end so everything was kind of tongue-in-cheek. And there were lawyerly people who thought it just wasn’t a good way to do it. I didn’t want to feel misrepresented in the letter and other people didn’t want me to be too emotionally vulnerable. So in the end only the one or two sentences written by me seem really jarring, and people didn’t get that there was sort of a joke in there. For example the part that’s me is where I said, ‘’If I wrote it now everybody would end up dying.'’ But that was a joke! And it sounded so serious amidst all the lawyer talk and I think my fans thought, Wow, she’s threatening to kill everyone! [Laughing] I felt kind of bad about that. I never felt any anger, actually. Just a lot of sadness. I mean it was a sucker punch — like someone came up behind you and just hammered you in the kidneys and you had no idea it was coming.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Is Midnight Sun still dead to you, or can you see finishing and publishing it in the future?

STEPHENIE MEYER: It’s really complicated, because everyone now is in the driver’s seat, where they can make judgment calls. ‘’Well, I think this should happen, I think she should do this.'’ I do not feel alone with the manuscript. And I cannot write when I don’t feel alone. So my goal is to go for, like, I don’t know, two years without ever hearing the words Midnight Sun. And once I’m pretty sure that everyone’s forgotten about it, I think I’ll be able to get to the place where I’m alone with it again. Then I’ll be able to sneak in and work on it again.

Do you have the energy to start working on a new book right now?

Actually, I think being able to write would be the best thing for me. I have two projects I want to work on. But the movie has been so time-consuming — all the publicity and the merchandise to approve. But I want to get in and write something totally different, a whole new world, and lose myself in that. I think that will be the most healing thing for me. So that’s my goal.

What stories are kicking around in your head?

I’m a little more hesitant to say what I’m working on, though, because people for some reason seem to take that as some kind of contract: ‘’You said you were working on this so now you have betrayed my trust by not doing it!'’ But I’m thinking I’m actually leaning towards the mermaids’ story right now. Years ago…I tried to write an epic poem. It was supposed to be, like, ‘’The Rime of the Ancient Mariner,'’ right? And I couldn’t make it work, it was horrible. But I loved the story in it. So that has become part of the back story to this one. Some of the characters are mermaids. Though, again, they’re not mermaids like you’ve known mermaids. They’re completely different. And I’m not going to use the word ‘’mermaid'’ in the book — they’re sirens.

After all the incredible highs and lows of the past year, do you feel tougher now?

I would say that I am much more fragile now than I was in the beginning of the year. I am not tougher. Nooooo. [Laughing] In a way, I’m really glad about that. As an author, you have to live in a glass house. If you have walls up, you can’t see the world around you to interpret it into your stories. And when people start throwing bricks at your glass, you can’t fill in the holes with cement. You just have to put more glass in and it’s just more delicate than it was before. Being vulnerable and fragile is kind of essential to being able to translate your emotions into a printed work. On the plus side of not being tougher, I don’t feel jaded. I don’t feel like I’ve lost my wonder at the good things or my horror at the bad. That’s good, right? If I stopped really feeling things I wouldn’t be able to write anymore.

A Twilight Lexicon member has come up with a code name for MS called Dark High Noon or DNH. This code name is to encourage Stephenie to continue working on it without having to hear or see the name. It’s a silly way of encouraging SM.

Love this interview - well thought out questions, responses with depth. There are a couple of things I want to touch on: First, I needed to know Stephenie intervened and toned down the kissing scene. After seeing the TV spots and trailers, I was worried they put too much sexuality into the movie. I appreciate knowing the sexual aspect was lessened.

I was heartbroken when it was announced Stephenie Meyer would not continue writing MS. I was worried that she had been permanently hurt and would not consider it again. I hoped time would help her heal but I wasn’t sure until this interview.

I am so happy to hear that Stephenie doesn’t feel jaded after the backlash over Breaking Dawn and over the Midnight Sun leak.
But now, I must pause….to have a fangirl SQUEE. Excuse me a moment. BRB…….

I should be too old for fangirl squeals but I now have hope the Dark High Noon will eventually get written. I cannot tell you how excited that makes me. I’m willing to wait as long as it takes for Stephenie to feel comfortable enough to start writing DHN again.

How do you feel about what Stephenie shared in this interview? Do you like the questions EW asked? Are you happy to hear about Dark High Noon? Share your thoughts!

  1. Leann responded:

    *SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!*

I’m too old to fangirl too, but here I am. This is SO exciting. I just knew that she couldn’t stay away forever since she loves the characters so much.

  2. Ana responded:

I AM EXSTATIC to hear about DHN!! I don’t know about you guys but I’m holding that “two year” remark to her. THE COUNTDOWN STARTS NOW!! LOL But yea, I’m glad I won’t have to wait 5 years for it. I would literally die in sorrow.

About the kissing scene, I think she meant it in a way that there were a couple of kissing scenes, and she probably wanted it down to just one. From what we’ve seen of that kissing scene, IT’S A GOOD ONE!!!!!!!!!

  3. jazzpurr_hale responded:

I’m glad she’s thinking about finishing Midnight Sun. What a relief! From what I’ve read, I think I’ll enjoy this one even more than the others. So please finish it Stephanie!

  4. Holly responded:

I will call it whatever code names works as long as she does publish it. I did read the bit she allowed on her website and it made me love Edward even more..is that even possible? *Swoon*
    Go DHN!

  5. JoAnna responded:

If she’s working on the mermaids, I guess the sequels to The Host are out of the question?? I read it after reading the Twilight saga twice and now I’m hooked on it! Please, PLEASE continue The Host, Stephenie!

  6. KrisyLynn responded:

I might sound like a total loser to you guys but what is DHN? Is it Midnight Sun? I got all confused.

  7. Muggle1983 responded:

Is anyone else disappointed that there is only one kiss scene in the movie? Cause there were a few in the first book.

  8. aliceg responded:

I think it’s one of the better interviews she’s done. I am also absolutely HOOKED on MS/DHN! I just get crazy being able to see everything from Edward’s point of view. It makes me even more in love with him than I am already. This site is probably the only place I will be able to admit that; I mean, I’ve got kids older than him for cryin’ out loud! But he is just ……..so……….EDWARD. ****SIGH**** ****SWOON****
Wouldn’t it be just awesome and amazing if she did the whole series in his point of view? I know that is a fantasy; but it would be so cool.

  9. Nikki responded:

KrisyLynn, yes they are talking about Midnight Sun.

I am so glad she is planning to publish it. Deep down I always figured she would, because she loves Edward too much to not give him his voice.

JoAnna, where did you hear about sequels to The Host. I would so love to hear more stories with Ian. Now that’s who I picture being played by Steven Strait. Yummy.

I really don’t care what she writes about as long as she DOES write more books. I literally love every one of her books and I know any other books she writes will be wonderful.

I was Team Swiss before I read MS, but now I am totally Team Edward. I love Jacob, but I’m glad he got his happy ending with someone other than Bella.

  10. Nicole responded:

I can’t believe how much of a legend Stephenie Meyer is. Even just in an interview, everything she says is just so…meaningful and honest. Just her life and the ones she has created in her novels are something to be in awe of. I think just an all-round grouse person. I really enjoyed this interview long time!

  11. VanessaC responded:

OME I am SOOOOOOO happy (even that’s not stressing the “so” enough) that she’s still planning on writing Midnight Sun eventually….. OME best news I’ve had since…. well, since I heard they were gonna make a Twilight movie. AWESOME!!! and imo, she can take 5 years if she needs it, as long as she DOES eventually publish it, I will be happy. It’s the possibility that she might NEVER publish it that had me upset, so as long as she actually DOES publish it eventually, I will be happy- SOOOOO happy (fangirl squee). Oh and (in an attempt to calm myself down and bring myself back to reality- kind of, I’m gonna change the subject) I’m SO glad about what Stephenie said about the movie- first, that she wanted to watch it on circulation all night long- if she did, then I’m sure I will and I’ll have to go see the movie like 1,000,000 times- second, that she insisted on toning down the kissing scene to allow room for the relationship to grow in the sequels- SO perfect, it would’ve sucked if they made the relationship too steamy and therefore couldn’t show the way it changed by Eclipse- and especially by BD, of course, if they do make that movie- and third, that she insisted on keeping the “lion fell in love with the lamb” line- she’s totally right, ppl do have that tattooed on them and everyone would’ve been PISSED if that changed… can I just say how much I LOVE Stephenie Meyer right now? I mean, I always love her, but right now that love has been brought to a whole new level. GO Stephenie for standing up for our book!!!! I know it must’ve been really hard for you to put your foot down like you did, seeing as how you’re not, in general, the type of person to do that, and we all appreciate it, I’m sure (I know I do), and we are all in your debt for standing up for and protecting the book we all know and love so well. Thanks a million times! (I know she’ll never read this, but I felt the need to say it anyway). so anyway, great article, and can I just say I LOVE Stephenie Meyer and cannot WAIT for this movie!! Nov 21, 12:01 am is gonna be like the biggest moment of my life!!! (sad I know, but true nonetheless) I CANNOT WAIT!!!

  12. amber responded:

I know stpeh will publish it because one she wouldn’t start something and not finish it knowing her and two she loves edward to much to not tell his untold story and plus if she did make midnight sun i am sure more people would biy just cause its in edwards and like guys would buy it!

  13. crystal cullen responded:

I’m trying to understand Stephenie’s comment about not wanting Rob Pattinson for a boyfriend. What does she mean by that? What is wrong with having a compelling personality. I would love her to clarify that comment, as I really want to understand it. As far as I’m concerned, I would love to have him for a boyfriend.

  14. azntwilihgt responded:

im so happy stephenie will continue to write DHN
    can’t wait till the movie

  15. Katie responded:

OMG i am so happy now that she will go back to it,….omg thank u stephenie meyer,….u r amazing n dont let anyone get u down….

  16. ms.cullen (extreme) responded:

i love ms but i dont like their made up code name i personally have been callinf it my sun because like jacob is to bella (n.m.) edward is my sun. my light in a dark world. he is the reson for my being at this moment because before him by life was dull and boring. it stuck. so now m.s. is my sun. plain and simple. anyone can use this title for it i dont care but its better then Dark High Noon.and with a much more meaningful itea behind it.

  17. Jessica responded:

i am confussed on if there is going to be a 5th book or not.

  18. Barbie responded:

I think it’s totally stupid to keep talking about Midnt Sun if you ever want to read it, don’t give it different names, Stephanie Meyer is NOT an idiot!

  19. Cullenist responded:

I think that Stephenie Meyer should carry on writing the book, in a while. But, I want her too come up with some new stuff too, don’t get me wrong I would love to hear Edward’s perspective on things.Anyways, if your a real Twilight saga an then you would stand by Steph whatever her choice, after all there would be no Twilight whithout her.

    -Twilightmania

  20. Anonymous responded:

i love you edward/rob i don’t get the point of “not a good boyfriend”… That’s quite impossible. Apparently I’m a Carlisle and a Bella, according to the quizes…quizzes? Anyways… i have a shrine devoted to Twlight AND Edward. Don’t tell me to admit I’m obsessed, ‘cuz I know I am. My friend tried to make me say it, but I told her it’s pretty ob. I don’t know why, but I can’t get the line Rosalie says in the baseball scene ‘My monkey man

  21. Cynthia responded:

I really hope that Ms. Meyer does not just stop with the first book, I would love all four through his eyes. I understand her need for time to heal and I do respect this. I just wanted to say, I haven’t been so enthralled with an author in quite a while. She just has a knack for making me want to read to no end. Her decision to continue with Edward’s perspective has me thrilled for her and us. Because not only has she won out over the betrayal, her fans have as well! The greatest power she holds in her hands now is the ability to move forward with her book in the face of the pain this has caused her and all of her fans. I admire her more than she could possibly imagine! Until she decides to quench my thirst for more, I will wait patiently… not really patiently, but wait I must!
Hopefully, it will not be too long!

  22. kara responded:

omg i totally love Edward/Robert he is so hot! and I’m so happy that Stephanie is continuing to write DHN. ialso loved twilight the movie it was so awsomeeeee!

  23. EDWARD LOVER responded:

omg I LOVE Edward cullen and i can only say one thing about twilight I own and know alot of stuff about twilight and i LOVE it. especaily EDWARd. I hope she continuies writing the seriers and movies….

  24. Catalina responded:

what the— what is she thinking!!! well not insulting but this is the best saga ive ever read!! and I think that it should continue not with DHN!! just continue with it with the new character in Breaking Dawn! well im talking for myself and for my friends that we are so obssesed that we should get help… but please continue with other books about the saga…. like for example what happened to Leahs and Jacobs friendship after the end in Breaking Dawn? what happened with the Volturis at the end? what happened with Renesmee and Jacob? please im dyng to read another book of Twilight thanks to Twilight im passing enclish… please!! :( o and great news of DHN!!!

  25. lydia responded:

i cant wait till midnight sun comes out i cant wait for the twilight film comes out!!!!!!!!

  26. emily responded:

    i love theese books!!!!! [O;

  27. Luna responded:

I would like to be honest and say that I had never once looked at a picture of Ms. Meyer until today; she is exactly how I pictured Bella. So much so that it took me by surprise for a minute. Even her cameo in the movie, I didn’t really notice her face.

I am glad that she will continue MS DHN after some time has lapsed. After reading the partial draft she had placed on her website, I was slightly depressed that it was put on hold indefinitely. I found myself yelling at the computer monitor when I had reached the end of the draft, “WHY MUST HER WRITING BE SO FULL OF AWESOME?!” LOL.

I’m too old for fan-girl squeals, too, but I must admit, this interview deserves all the *squee*s gets. :D

  28. brittney responded:

great books n movie! cant wait till…if…

  29. nikki responded:

oh stephenie, dont listen to the haters. we love you and want you to finish MS/DHN on your own terms! :D great interview!

  30. nandha responded:

when the midnight sun will be realease????

in indonesia ,twilight, new moon, and eclips are sold in all bookstore

    im waitting . .

  31. Lisa responded:

Stephanie is awesome! I don’t usually read books and have hard time finishing them if I can’t get caught up in them. The Twilight Saga and her other book The Host gave me everything I needed. I have read all 5 books and plan to re read them all again. I think she left a place to continue on with both stories in the end and I hope she will consider doing so. As far as MS goes I read the draft that she posted and fell in love with it. I hope she can find a way to write it sooner than two years. I am bummed that I finally found an Author that gives me what I need to stay focused with a book and I have read everything she has out. If she writes a book about Sirens I am sure that it will be awesome and will look forward to reading it too. On another note I don’t think anyone could have pulled off Edward as well as Robert Pattison did. He put a face on the character since I didn’t read the books until after I saw the awesome movie. I hope they do movie with her other book The Host.

  32. Tay responded:

so i am a big, big, BIG! Twilight fan! i’v read them about 5 times:) i am so excited about then news about DHN!!! Stephinie Meyer is the best aouther EVER! i love all of her books so so SO much! and EVERY THING about them!

  33. roz responded:

OMG i love these books sooooo much its insane!!!! i loved the movie too! and i always liked rob as edward…i think its mean that ppl. didnt like him. hey has ne one else found themselves listening 2 songs and thinking about how they would relate 2 twilight books? ik im a geek lol….anyway im soooooo happy that she will continue writing MS i read the partial draft and thought it was amaizing!!!!!!!!! i love edward even more now (didnt think that was possible but apperantly it is) its gonna be really hard to wait 2 years or longer for it to be published

  34. susan responded:

I totally agree with Cynthia….I would LOVE to see all four books from edwards perspective. While I related to Bella’s story (after all I am a mom) Edwards story to me is just so fascinating and it NEEDS to be told! I want to know more about his time he spend during New Moon when he chose to leave Bella…with 12 chapters already completed in the book one of edwards story, I don’t see how she can give his story the same merrit and fit it all into one book. That would not be fair to his character. There is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much that can be explored further by telling his side of the story. So, SM, if you read these books, PLEASE consider telling Edwards whole story…do all four books from his perspective. We’ll wait as long as it takes :)

  35. rebecca responded:

I am soo happy to no when Dark High Noon will be completed. I was qutie disapointed that it would be a 2 year wait but i no it will be worth it :)
I read the draft and thought it was amazing!
I was sad afterwards, i wanted to no

  36. rebecca responded:

I am soo happy to finally hear when Dark High Noon will be completed.
I am disapointed tho that it would take 2 years, but it will be worth the wait :)
I read the partial draft and thought it was amazing!
After i read it i was straight on the internet trying to find out when stephenie will complete it!
It would be such a shame if she never completed it.
Theres so much to discover about edward.
We will wait as long as it takes though.
    Good Luck steph :)
    We have faith in you

  37. Deirdre responded:

Oh please please please let her finish it……. it’s such an amazing plot … i think after the movie most of the aimed audience pretty much fell in love with it and are desperate to read the series ….. and even if it does take her over 2 years it will be worth it

    keep the faith

  38. just love it responded:

wow… Two years?? I mean… really?? How could I survive?, well I’ll wait as long as it takes, just please publish it. By the way B I LOVE Edward Cullen

  39. Paula responded:

    Lisbon, Portugal

I enjoyed the interview. I feel that the 5th volume may never come to exist despite what she said. In coming years the saga will be talk a lot (films, re-editions, dvd’s, etc.)and it seems difficult that the author ignore it and became interested to rewrite Edward’s history. I hope I’m wrong and that within two years the 5th book appears… The vision of Edward seems to me very important to understand some of the behaviors that happen along the history. I could say it is more interesting than the vision of Bella …

Excuse my English … itยดs very bad I know ;-P

  40. CloudClimber responded:

Yay! The new book is still coming out! I’m really looking forward to that and also the new book Stephinie was talking about ( the one with the sirens/mermaids) That would be a great book. Twilight Saga is such a mesmerising and magical series, I love them to bits! ( I love Edward Cullen lol!) :)

  41. Vada Laylene responded:

Go “Dark High Noon”! Now lets stop talking about it so Steph can get it all in order!

  42. Dawn responded:

Yay! ;D. Thanks for reconsidering Stephanie! I’d love to see Edwards Perspective & The Book right next to the Saga.

  43. MIMI responded:

i think it is kind of depressing that she said rob would be a bad boyfriend.i would date hom even if he was a self rightous pig

  44. Elphaba Cullen responded:

I think coming up w/ a code name for MS is a great way to “stop talk” about it. This way, it won’t exactly leave our minds, but it will almost absolutly asure that Stephenie will start work on it ASAP.

  45. Mrs.Cullen responded:

OMG I AM SOOOOOOOO HAPPY THAT SHE IS GOING TO WRITE MIDNIGHT SUN!SQUEEL!I HOPE THAT SHE IS GOING TO WRITE AS MANNY AS POSSIBLE. I REALLY HOPE SO. THIS WRITER IS THE BEST WRITER OF ALL IN THE WHOLE WORLD!THE WRITER IS OFF THE HOOK SHE HAS ENTERTAINED ME AND MY FAMILY WITH ALL THE ROMANCE AND THE ACTION. LIKE I SEAD BEFORE SHE IS THE BEST WRITER OF ALL AND I HOPE THAT SHE WILL WRITE AS MANNY AS POSSIBLE!

    FROM THE REAL MRS.CULLEN

  46. kaitlin barton responded:

I also think that she should write the rest of the books from edwards point of view. This may sound weird or normal to some people but once i got one of her books i couldnt stop reading it. The books really inspired me to read and probley to others. For me and others please write the rest of the books because i respect what that person did to you and you need time but for my sake write the rest of the books.
    Thanks….

  47. Gabriella responded:

I love Robert Pattinson but I thought Ashley Greene (Alice Cullen) would of made a way better Bella because shes way prettier than everyone else and Robert Pattinson is way Hotter than all the others!!!

  48. sway responded:

I’ve read the whole Twilight Saga at least 10 times. I had actually read the whole Saga twice before I was ever aware that there was an incomplete verion of Edwards point of view. So for the last 8+ times I’ve read the entire saga (sometimes in a 3 day time span) I’ve read Dark High Noon as well. I found it even more entrancing than Twilight. I love the fact that we get a chance to see the other perspective, to really understand the reason behind the little changes in expression and moods in Edward that Bella doesn’t always seem able to explain in Twilight. When I read the statement on Stephanie Meyers website about the leak my heart actually ached for her. I can’t imagine such an intrusion of privacy. I also can’t imagine not getting a chance to some day read the completed version of DHN. I’m not really a patient person but I want so badly to read it that I would willingly wait for 10 years as long as I eventaually have the chance. I also want to compliment Rob Pattinson on his performance. He mentioned that he got DHN to read after the movie was already halfway done being shot and I am sincerely in awe that he was able to capture so much of the angst and warring emotions/desires in DHN before he read it. It made for a better overall movie. I also can’t imagine the cast being played by anyone different. I am completely thrilled and look forward to seeing the entire Twilight Saga in the movie theatres.

ah omg i love twilight. i juss love the books. so DHN is it a squel to Breaking Dawn. well if it is YEAH!! i was hopeing she would juss so we could see what all happens to the cullen family. exspecially Rennesme and Jacob. haha and i really hope she was joking about the whole killing everyone. but i don’t no how i would react if one of the cullens or jacob were to die. i’d prob. cry for days and days

so i went to see twilight…i didnt know what to expect at first, i was like oh you want to go see a movie about vampires?…really? but when i saw this movie i was in ahhh. i loved it so much. im not the type of person who get so caught up in a movie that she cant see straight. here something that i know i am, i hate reading with a passion but once i saw this movie i had to read the book. it started out with the first book (obviously) i loved it then the second then the third i havnt read the fourth…yet. im getting it tomarrow. these books are amazing and people that are hating on you just need to do soemthing better with there lives. please dont let the stress of others stop you from writing this book. trust me there are more people out there who love these books then there are people who dont. they all want to see edward and bellas love grow. to see there child grow. to see them live there life together to never grow old to get throw all the obsticals that they need to over come. there love is like nothing i have ever seen before or read and i want to see more of it. so please put all the bad things behind you stop caring what all the haters think. if you read one line of negitivity X out of that page right away because your an amaging author and you deserve to get the praise not the opisite. my parents and the rest of my family are telling me how proud they are of me for reading these books but its just i found the right book so please continue being the great author that you are so i can continue reading these great books and to have the drive to read instead of dreading it.
thank you so much for writing these books and i understand if you choose not to continue with the books. but i hope you do. SARAH!! =)

  51. Penelope responded:

OMG I’M SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY THAT STEPHENIE MEYER IS GOING TO FINISH DHN!!!!! i don’t care how long it takes her, i’m just sooo happy that she’s going to actually finish it. i feel sooooo bad for her that it got leaked out on the internet. whatever loser decided to do that to her, god forbid if they’re anywhere near me. stephenie is such an extraordinary author. i don’t know how she does it, but there’s just so much passion in everything that she writes. you can tell she loves her writing soooo much, because she doesn’t want to continue DHN thinking that it won’t turn out right with all of this negativity aimed at her.

i think that stephenie meyer just needs to let go of everything hateful people are saying to her, and just listen to all the other great stuff. because only like, .1 out of every 1000000000000 person hates twilight. there are soooooo many more people out there that absolutely loveeee stephenie (myself included)

and i think that how she actually went to the set of the movie and put her foot down when something didn’t seem right, well i think that’s great!! she kept the book that everyone loved soooo much and made sure that it was kept to our liking. thank you stephenie!!!

and also, one last thing. how a lot of people were like “well i don’t think that they should have cut down on the kissing scene, because there’s a lot of them in the book” well the reason that they did, probably, is because in the book, with stephenie writing all of bella’s thoughts, every little touch, look and kiss can be escaladed more, but with only your eyes seeing it, and not being able to really get an in depth perspective of it, then that’s why they had to make only one, slightly downplayed kissing scene, because they want to make us want more in all the rest of the movies. and to show us how bellas and edwards love grows over the books.

oneee last thing, then i’m done (sorry i’ve written so much. haha) WE ALL LOVE YOU SOOO MUCH STEPHENIE!! CONTINUE WRITING ALL YOUR FREAKING AMMAAAZING BOOKS!!!!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST AUTHOR EVERRRR!!!!!(: (:

With the whole DHN thing, I kind of have some REAL mixed emotions. On one hand, I love Twilight, and wish Stephenie would come out with DHN sooner. On another hand, I am fully aware and fully support that this is HER saga, and she can do what she wants, when she wants, if she wants to. The only thing is that it would be superb if she did finish it. At first I was very, very, VERY hyped about the fact that I would only have to wait two years, (heck, I could be pushing age 100 if she came out with it one way or the other!)but then all these douches make a TON of petitions saying things like, “PLZ PLZ PLZ STEPHENIE! I LUVE TWILIGHT FINISH IT PLEASE!” It bothers me that they don’t understand, or haven’t done their research before starting something as serious as this. This is a book, a book that can become a real bestseller, hit the shelves, excetra. That’s serious. On a different hand (I’ running out on hands!) I would wait forever(I could be dead and then come back to life with reincarnation, and if the book was out then, I would still be pleased :) ) if DHN came out one day. I am perfectly happy with the saga, but an addition would be super. What ticks me off is when people say things like, “If i were her I would change this,” and, “If this and this doesn’t happen, then this book will suck!” It’s HER BOOK! I bet that even if someone remade it it wouldn’t be even NEARLY as great as it is. But, hey, that’s just my opinion. I believe strongly in peoples’ own opinion. :)

  57. anonymous responded:

I am not sure… I think she is throwing a fit, just to atract publicity or somethin’… I loved DHN/MS, what is posted in her site anyway… I really hope she continues to write it… It is the best book in the series for me…

  58. sarah responded:

i would love to read the 5th book but as *****addicted***** as i am i would like stethenie to right it in her own time, great books like these cant be rushed. I only came across the books when twilight was relesed in the cinma. My sister told me to shut up and stop going on about the books and i told her she should give them a read because they are SO great. She did and how she’s addicted to. But i can handle to read these a few more times and make do with the films new moon to be relese nov 20, 2009 and iv heard the relese of eclise is due out 7mounth’s after but will wait and see what happens. these’s are the only books iv ever read. The story just keeps me addicted its a love story we all dream we could have in some ways but also the loves so strong for a family such as the cullens.

so stephenie dont let people push you u take the time u need to get the story done and people are that excited to read it, then we will just have to wait like me……..so good luck stepenie xx

  59. Milica responded:

I think that she shouldn’t listen to the idiots that said anything bad about the “Breaking down”!!! The book is fantastic and no one has the right to tell her how to write it because that’s her book and SHE wrote the first three parts and ONLY she could have writen the forth part so good!!! And about the DHN, I agree that she should take a pause because then she won’t have the presure and I belive that it will be another fantastis book tha I will probably read in one breath like all the others!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

  60. Susan responded:

I didn’t realize that there was a problem with Breaking Dawn. I loved it!!! Those that didn’t…oh well. The thing is, the book is on the Best Sellers list so clearly there were a LOT of people who loved it. And another thing…all those that love to hate or be anti Twilight..funny thing about that…they all have read the books and seen the movie. LOL So they are supporters as well in sick way. LOL
But I have a question. I don’t know if this is right or not but wasn’t there a controversy before with an Author who wrote a book and then everyone wanted him to write another one and since he wasn’t then someone else wrote it and when the original author became aware of someone completing his books he then wrote the other books? I want to say it was the Silence of the Lambs series? So if Stephenie puts her draft up, that doesn’t mean that someone can get a hold of it and finish it for her does it? I don’t want that happening. I want HER to finish it.
It also makes me wonder if Someone might then write Edward’s POV for the other books too. Something that almost everyone wants. The thing is, I’d probably buy it cause I’m human and curious by nature but we all know that would totally suck if Stephenie didn’t write it so I hope that she covers her bases so that others can’t hurt her further by completely her work.

  61. Superman_97 responded:

Ok well, look at this comment cause some people will hate me for this but first, I LOVE THE TWILIGHT SERIES!!! But sadly, i very much dislike Robert Pattinson. To Stephenie Meyer, I give her all my support and I tried to go along with her decision of Rob, but im sorry…. I JUST CANT!!! But the decision of Emmett (Kellan Lutz) omg hes hot!!!!! i love him with all my heart!!! but to rob…. good luck….i guess with your career… But plz plz plz plz plz plz STOP your singing!!! this isnt nice, i know, but….you kind of well …. suck… other than that plz continue your great work with all of your books!!! luv u all…except rob…. =)*(=

  63. Maria Jansson responded:

I am devastated about the MS-leak, that has hurt not only SM, but will affect all of us fans negatively too!
The problem is that I am not sure she will have that “silence” that she says she will need to finish the book. The only thing to do is to try to help her the best we can. By being silent, obviously….

  64. angel figgins responded:

    ur books r soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
    GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I fell in love with it the first time I read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  65. Victoria responded:

I think stephenie meyer should write the midnight sun/dark high noon book! in two years most peple will probably forget about twilight and they will have to read the whole series over again just to remember what all happened! I can’t wait that long just to read a book, she really needs to go ahead and get it published so other people can enjoy it.

  66. Alejandra responded:

    OOOMMMMGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  71. Sarah Keister (Twilightd Biggest Fan) responded:

OMG i am soooooooooooooo happy that she is writeing Midnight Sun. I loved the other books. And i love EDWARD he is so HOT. I was a littel disipointed with the move though i think they should of put more of the medow part in it because they had like two chapters of it in the book and thats when they talked the most and when thy first kissed. But anyway thank you so much for writeing Midnight Sun i cant wait till it comes out.

Love, You biggest fan Sarah Keister

  72. Danielle responded:

I have hear that Midnight Sun was suppose to be out this month…

  73. Rachel responded:

I wish she would write it sooner, but i’m happy to hear that she’s still thinking of writing it. When i heard about the rough draft being leaked, i was shocked, and i refuse to read it. I am staying faithful to Stephenie and holding on to the hope that she will finish it someday, even if i have to wait a decade or two. Stephenie, if you’re reading this, just know that some of us out here would rather not read what you never intended us to see, but will wait.

  74. mrs.emmet cullen responded:

OMG Thanks so much steph for coming out of your fog I hope things with the new book get better n better keep it commin I cant get enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

  75. Cinderella responded:

I honestly don’t think SM would make us wait 2 years for MS…these characters are just as much part of her life as there apart of our life now. I understand her being upset as i would be too… but i think its kind of unfair that she would allow one person, one horrible rotten person ruin it for her millions of fans, and when i say fans im speaking of her true fans…the ones who have stood by and wanted to break necks when they hear bad reviews about the books we love so much.

  76. Dannielle responded:

soo does this mean there wont be and seqeals to the host like the soul and the body aww that sucks i really loved those books people shouldnt tell me theres gonna be when theres not damb (tears) oh well cant wait for Dark High Noon

  77. Missy responded:

I didn’t realize that Breaking dawn got so much bad publicity…it’s actually my fav of the whole series!

  78. miss lil responded:

i can’t watie till Drak high Noon (DHN) and (MS)

  79. Nisie responded:

i loveeeeeeee the twilight saga and i think you should make i book at least with renesmee in it more then she is in breaking dawn.

  80. Piaraquel responded:

Actually I was kind of sad as I read that someone posted DHN illegaly in the internet so now I hope that I can read it someday couse I liked the thought to know what Edward is thinking of Bella and the wohle situation.Well I can not wait for Dark High Noon!
