MTV - New Moon’ Casting News: Michael Copon, Ben Barnes Push For Roles In ‘Twilight’ Sequel
Copon is hoping to replace Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black, while Barnes is angling to play mind-reading vampire Aro.
These days, “Twilight” fans are feeling closer to their heroine than they ever thought possible.Following last week’s dismissal and replacement of Catherine Hardwicke, this weekend began with a press release from Summit Entertainment officially appointing “New Moon” director Chris Weitz to the job. Suspicious in its omission of Taylor Lautner, the release seemed to all but confirm Twilighter whispers that Hardwicke won’t be the last “Twilight” talent replaced before the sequel.
So where does the series go from here?
MTV News can confirm that 26-year-old “Scorpion King 2″ actor Michael Copon [pronounced “COPE-on”] is one of several actors Weitz is considering to play the new, larger Jacob Black. A representative for Copon told us that they’re making a full effort to land the high-profile gig. And in a bit of 21st-century self-publicity, the actor has even recently updated his Facebook status with messages like: “Michael Copon [is] in a Twilight Zone!” and “Michael Copon is the older Jacob Black!”
Copon’s representative confirmed to MTV News that the Facebook page is run by the actor himself and that those are indeed his words.
Approached for comment on Lautner’s omission from the “New Moon” press release, Summit confirmed that it was not a typographical error. “The casting decision in regards to the character Jacob Black has yet to be made,” a representative told MTV News.
But even once Copon (or whoever else) is officially announced as the new Jacob, Weitz still has many other key casting decisions to make and an extremely brief amount of time in which to make them. With barely 12 weeks until cameras are due to begin rolling, the “Golden Compass” filmmaker needs to find faces to portray several key characters — including the peace-keeping, Italian vampires known as the Volturi.
With the buzz building for these roles, MTV News has confirmed that 27-year-old “Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” heartthrob Ben Barnes is throwing his hat into the ring. The actor is already quite popular with the “Twilight” fanbase and shares the same manager as both Copon and “Twilight” star Cam Gigandet. Barnes is believed to be campaigning for the role of Aro, a mind-reading vampire whose “New Moon” encounter with Edward and Bella helps shape their destiny together.
Now it’s confirmed - Taylor is out and other actors are being considered for the role of Jacob Black. What do you think of Copon as Jacob and Ben Barnes as Aro?

Umm i think the Copon is ok for Jacob…he does kinda look like taylor but i completely disagree with Ben Barnes as Aro…I really disliked Barnes in Narnia and thought he gave a very poor performance…He wouldn’t be capable of playing someone as old and experienced as Aro
OME, I think Ben Barnes is soooooooooo cute but I always thought of Aro as an older gentlemen. But it could create an interesting dynamic if Aro is a young man like Edward but far less angry. The casting of a younger guy is fascinating especially if Stephenie is ok with that. I think Taylor has the ability to grow a little bit more into the part. An essential part of Jacob is that he is young and impulsive and babyfaced. Taylor has that aspect down.

On the Taylor thing - isn’t he supposed to look the same through the beginning of the book? And he only changes as the book gets towards the middle?? So what are film makers going to do…put in Taylor for the first part and then replace him with Copon?????
With all the technology out there today (and with the budget you’d think that they’d be approved for) they should be able to keep Taylor in his role as Jacob.
On the Ben Barnes thing - I agree with you too…..he’s just too young to play what I’ve always pictured Aro as looking like. I mean Bella does describe his face as looking papery in texture, so they should get someone a little older (about Peter Facinelli’s age) to play the part of Aro.

Well…he does kinda look like Taylor, an older version that is……but hes not Taylor. I swear, i am going to cry if the replace Taylor. I may be 100% Team Edward, but im also 100% Team Taylor….i hope that if they replace him, he at least stays until he becomes a werewolf…that’s the least they can do. I just hope that they handle in better then they hadeled letting Catherine go….
As for Ben Barnes, I could totally see him as Aro, with some white make-up and a black cloak. I haven’t seen Prince Caspian yet (I know, im such a loser, =P) so i dont know about his acting, but from what ive heard he’s very good, and i kinda like the idea of a younger (and hotter) Aro.
OMG, i really disagree with Michael Copon being the new Jacob Black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But i think that Ben Barnes would be a great Aro but Copon does not fit the character of Jacob Black like Taylor Lautner does.Besides what is everyone going to do with all the Taylor Lautner merchandise. Taylor Lautner is already Jacob Black and i think you would lose alot of twilight fans if you cut Taylor Lautner!Dont you have people to make him look older? use some makeup or something, you can do it any other time! alot of fans love Taylor Lautner and wanted to see him play the big role in New Moon. Well, not very happy with this news. I wanted Taylor to stay on. That really sucks! They might as well recast Rosalie and Esme while they’re at it. I didn’t think they fit the character descriptions very well and I was very disappointed in that casting. I’m sure a few fans will be upset!!
I would LOVE Ben Barnes as Aro. The book doesn’t say how old he was when he was turned into a vampire. Now all they have to do is cast Trent Ford in one of the roles and “New Moon” would have my Top 3 favorite actors (Rob, Ben and Trent).

What is Summit trying to do lose a lot of money. What about Chris Weitz being true to the books. I personally think they should give Taylor a chance to bulk up and start working out before they replace with someone else. I don’t think I will being going to see New Moon or any other movies. I have to admit it will make me sad if they replace Taylor. I’m not Team Jacob or do I have any other attached to Taylor. I’d never even seen him in anything before Twilight, didn’t even know he existed until he signed up for this role. But I almost feel like I’m betraying my “Jacob Black.” Not really sure why. I guess it could be because every since I knew he was going to be Jacob I’ve started to picture him as Jacob…so yeah, I’ll be sad when/if they finally announce that Taylor is out.
Ok, I checked out this Michael Copon and I don’t like him. I like Taylor’s look better. His smile is so much better, which is referred to in the book a lot. I don’t think it’s a good choice and I think Taylor really got the a raw deal here.

How can you replace Jacob he is the soul of new moon. Taylor Lautner is perfect for the part he is supposed to be younger than Bella and act like a 16 year old. I totally agree with Ben Barnes as Aro he was amazing in Prince Caspian. I really am worried about who they will cast as Seth, and as Jane because those parts are small but like Emmett’s they are crucial to the story. So please keep Taylor Lautner.

Come on! Ben Barnes as Aro isn’t he the leader, why not cast him as Alec. If Taylor is too young to be Jacob is the character of Seth going to be old enough or not young enough to be convincingly 14 and could be a “younger” jacob because he is crucial to Edward against Victoria and Riley. I’m scared to think what the other characters could look like since majority of the cast appears to be new

Ok, so to be fair, I’ve never seen this Michael Copon guy act in anything, but he looks like such a bad actor flaunting his pretty boy looks. Also, he’s pretty obviously Filipino and not Native American. I’d prefer it if they hired someone with at least some Native American blood. They should honestly keep Taylor though, because he still has some of that boyish innocence, which is key to Jacob. Even after Jacob’s turned into a werewolf, he sometimes shows his softer side, which I think Taylor has. Also, I don’t think any of us expect him to be 7 feet tall; I’d rather have continuity as opposed to an awkward switch in actors.
This is a huge role, and I’d rather they either keep Taylor or at least give it to someone with a more acting experience.
Oh, and did I mention? Kristen has great chemistry with Taylor. Copon? He looks too old for the part! He’s already 26! Yikes!
i think Ben is too young to play Aro, when I read the book Aro seemed older (older than Carlisle and not close to Edward). plus Taylor should be given a chance to play Jake, in the books they say he still has that baby face just a lot taller. and with the fact that werewolves don’t age while they change back and forth. Jake should still look young just not as short
I always thought Aro would be older! More of a Ralph Fiennes kinda look…. I dunno… I am getting scared now… in the end, I hope they hire actors that can act more than just “looking” the part.

Nope, I can’t see Copon paired up with Kristen. He appears to be missing the innocence of the character of Jacob. It won’t look right.
Taylor has been working hard (I watched an interview of him about this) to build up his physique. As far as height goes, you don’t need CGI to make him taller. Camera tricks were used in Lord of the Rings to make for example, Gandalf look bigger than Frodo when they were side by side. Besides, Kristen is already petite. They can take advantage of that.
Taylor has to stay. He also has great chemistry with Kristen! Copon? I just can’t see him paired up with Bella/Kristen.
Why do I get the feeling that this is like one of those guys that Kristen auditioned with and she said those guys were more interested in looking pretty than interacting with her? I don’t know for sure. It’s just a feeling. They’ve got to keep Taylor. Ben Barnes? I don’t think he should play Aro. Give him one of the younger Volturi characters, but not Aro.
i always pictured Aro, Caius, and Marcus as older. Not old old, but in their 30’s or 40’s when they became vampires. It would be wierd to me if they were younger or the same age as the Cullens. The Volturi would lose some of that aura of power that they have. Maybe that’s just me though..

I’m still firmly in the Keep Taylor camp! Replacing anybody at this point will make many fans angry. This was the main reason I didn’t wnat a new director, though it sounds like Summit wants Taylor out-don’t really know why. Cough up some more money for the special effects necessary, if needed, to make Jacob/Taylor look taller.
Don’t know who Ben Barnes is, so no comment on that til I find out. It’s more important that he can act too as well as be hot!

i know you guys are not up for a casting changes on Jacob but Michael Cope looks just like the Jacob I pictured in my head. I started reading the books again and I still picture Jacob differently after they casted Taylor. But I think if they cast Michael I would definitely get giddity. I’m so excited to see New Moon next year.

I have to disagree with some of you, I think Ben would be a good candidate for Aro. I also pictured someone older when I read the books but an age isn’t really given. I think we picture the Volturi older because of the wisdom and knowledge they have acquired over their 3000 years of life, idk if I’m making any sense its hard to explain.

I’m mad. i love taylor and i totally want him to stay. even though jacob’s supposed to be bigger and stuff-he’s still a little baby. he’s suppossed to be younger and more child like though his appearance decieves that. i think people forget that. in new moon he’s only 16. taylor is 16. i think with a little workout routine and maybe some special effects(who knows) taylor could work. and i totally love ben for aro. i did think of the voultri as older men, but them being younger would be pretty cool. so totally for taylor. and if they do pick copon-he better be able to channel his younger side, cause that’s who jacob really is.
I just googled Michael Copon and he fits Jacobs part better then Lautner in my opinion! Im happy, go for it Summit! Ben Barnes would be perfect….aged with make up and filmy eye contacts and wardrobe…he’d be spookily beautiful. Good choices in my opinion.
Many of you seem to be missing a crucial point. I figured this out when I first saw a picture of Taylor after Twilight was cast: he is too young and too small to play Jacob after Jacob becomes a werewolf. After that happens, Jacob hits a huge growth spurt and ends up looking like he’s older than Bella, over 6′0 tall and muscular. Not innocent anymore, and not babyfaced, either. I have nothing at all against Taylor–I liked him in Twilight and that little stare down at the end of the movie was great–but I knew that with the production schedule Summit was looking at (to keep the vampires looking the same age), he would never make the requirement for a post-change Jacob. And I’m not happy with seriously cocky Copon, either (whatever with his MySpace page…good grief), but they have to find someone who looks at least a little like Taylor.
I don’t know how everyone thinks that Taylor and Kristen have such great chemistry, he wasn’t even in the movie that much. I think casting Michael Copon as Jacob is a smart move. They need to recast some of the other characters as well starting with Rosalie, what were they thinking casting Nikki Reed, she is suppose to be so beautiful, that’s what you get with a director like Catherine who had already worked with her(Nikki) on Thirteen.
As for the Volturi they are suppose to be young, I would love to see:

Any changes would be great I think the Twilight movie could have been a lot better, they should have stuck more to the book and picked a better cast. For the most part I like the cast like Edward, Alice, Charlie, Emmet, Jasper and Carlisle (was OK could have been better). They could have picked a better Bella.

As for Michael Copon, he seems to care more about being in a big movie then the role, Taylor cares about the role. He has always been an enthusiastic fan. It hurts my heart. I looked at Copon’s myspace and winced a little, he is a great looking guy, but I am not sure about him for Taylor. He is the ideal Jacob Black and no one will be able to play him as closely to what we see than him.

Ben Barnes as Aro - I like it (although I thought of him first for Demetri, but I’d buy him as Aro IF he gets cast)
Copon as Jacob - well he could compete a bit better with Pattinson. But personally, I don’t like it when franchise players get replaced in sequel movies. Ruins the flow, you know? I’d like to know the reasons behind Lautner’s replacment.

i’m really sad to see taylor go, but realistically i couldn’t see him sprouting a bunch (although i don’t expect anyone to be 7 feet!) and bulking up that much in the time allotted till filming begins again. don’t get me wrong, love taylor, he was THE perfect jacob for TWILIGHT, but i can’t see him for NEW MOON.
however….STEVEN STRAIT is the one man i can see as the PERFECT grown up jacob for new moon. new director needs to get on that one! GO STEVEN STRAIT!

I can’t say as I have much of an opinion about recasting Jacob. I thought they probably would but. . . I could also see a few minor omissions from the book clearing up the whole thing so he(Taylor) could stay. Either way could work if done right.
As for Aro. . . I admit that I had always envisioned the 3 volturi leaders as older, parental type characters, BUT. . . when I first read this and thought of Ben Barnes in that role, I was immediately intrigued. It never really says how physically old any of them are, and the idea of them being in their twenties is facinating. The more I think about it the more I like it. I’m not entirely sold on Ben Barnes for that part though I would love to see him in more stuff, Twilight series included.
Any other recasting should, in my opinion be done with great hesitation. I didn’t feel that anyone was BAD, and that recasting any of the parts would only serve to put a glich in the flow of the series. I would like to see everyone, especially Bella’s family and Edward’s family, come back for all of the movies. I hate seeing actors changed mid-stride for no REAL reason.

I’m so on board with that. Taylor is too young, and Jake is supposed to be big…I mean, Bella came out of her shell with Jake bugging her how he’s older than her cuz of her size. And he’s supposed to rescue her from the water…Taylor’s too small to do that. If they had enough time so that Taylor could bulk up, that’s one thing, but they don’t. I’m all for it. Wow. I’m definitely not happy about them replacing Taylor Lautner. He’s a good actor with a lot of potential, and if they’d give him the chance (and a little movie magic!) he could pull it off. They need to think this decision over very carefully.
CHEMISTRY. Someone disagreed that Kristen has good chemistry with Taylor. They have a short screen time in the Twilight movie sure, but I’ve also seen them in an interview together. You should have seen Kristen. She was sitting between Robert and Taylor, but she was cozy with Taylor. They looked very comfortable with each other, which is consistent with the book characters. By the way, Taylor has shown to handle promotions and interviews really well. He’s articulate and mature for his age! He’ll be older next year when they start filming!
I still can’t believe that anyone is seriously considering replacing Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. I will be so disappointed if that actually happens. I will lose all faith in Summit and wash my hands of the future movies. I will stick to the books and not go see any of the other movies. I’m so tired of all the uncertainty surrounding New Moon. It’s bad enough not knowing how the movie will turn out with Chris Weitz directing, having a replacement for Taylor is going too far. There has been enough controversy surrounding Twilight and now New Moon that if Taylor is replaced I will withdraw myself from the whole drama, and I will not spend my money on the future movies.
No offence to Michael Copon BUT Taylor is so good for the part and why change a good thing he never even really got the chance to be Jacob and besides being taller MUCH taller It’s not like Jacob is supposed to be big… AND It’s not like Michael Copon is much bigger or more built than Taylor!!! IF Taylor must be replaced, PLEASE let it be Steven Strait. I agree that Michael Copon seems very arrogant - I mean, he hasn’t even got the job (God, at least I hope not!), and he’s already acting like it’s his?!?! Extremely insensitive and immature on Michael’s part. Also, Michael just seems fake and without much substance. Steven Strait seems more soulfull in his work I’ve seen. JMHO…
I’ve never heard of Michael Copon but he look okay for the part but i feel a bit iffy about it. ( it might ruin the movie if he doesn’t like portray Jacob right). There are a lot of people dedicated to Taylor Lautner to play the role of Jacob Black and New Moon could have a much smaller fan base than the first movie. Ben Barnes might not be a good enough actor to play Aro, Aro’s character is very complex and Ben might diminish that complexity. I loved Ben in Narina and it could be a good experience for him but i have always pictured JOHNNY DEPP as Aro, i think he would play the part perfectly and would make the movie so much better!
Ok, if they gonna replace Taylor, my vote has always been for Steven Strait…(the whole time I read New Moon, he was whom I pictured Jacob to look like). Also, Copon is 26!!??? ya right, and he’s suppose to be 16??!!! At least S. Strait is about the same age as Rob Pattinson.

Ok what everyone needs to remember that in New Moon Jacob was rounding a good 6′7″. And also he was very built and beefy. So it would be extremely hard to make Taylor that tall and built in 12 weeks. As much as I loved Taylor if they want to be true to the books they need to do a recasting.
I never really had a mental picture of Aro or any of the Volturi.

I vaguely remember Copon in Scorpion King 2. If they must replace Lautner, which I think is a bad idea, Steven Strait is a better actor to do it with and not Copon. I’ve read a lot of these posts and I understand where some of you are coming from with the casting of Aro. I think Ben Barnes should be cast in this movie and to me it doesn’t matter which vampire he gets. He’s very good looking and would be a fantastic vampire. I don’t neccessarily see Aro as old like some of you do. Most vampires are supposed to be young looking anyways. We must put our faith in Summit and Weitz now because it’s a done deal. So, I say “Deal with it.”

What baffles me is that people older are complaining about the teens are naive, they are going to go see it anyway when they threaten to boycott the movie for the changing of a main character in a book saga, but the justify it by saying Taylor is too young and that can drool over a sixteen year old portraying a sixteen year old so they want to fantasize about a sixteen year old being plyed by a twenty seven year old, is that not pervy in the inverse from trying to have it both ways. Even if they fire taylor and hire someone else they are not going to gain any new fans to the franchise. From all the coutning of the movie numbers the teens carried twilight, so it may be just a movie, but this young people are dedicated to these tours, hot topic, and twicons and other events so that they can sense that the people vying for these roles get and live the character rather than use it for some flaunt, but hey they can always go see Sherlock Holmes on Nov. 20 that seems like it might be very interesting movie.
I really like Taylor as Jacob, even though I am 100% Team Edward! I will be sad to see Taylor go, to me he is the only Jacob, that being said though…being a Twilight Mom I would feel a little weird ogling over such a young guy even if he is Jacob….he is going to be taking a much more mature role in New Moon. Thats just from an older TwiFan perspective.

I was kind of wondering what they were going to with the whole Jacob getting older looking thing…not sure if I like Copon (having refused to watch the Scorpion King prequel, cause the first never made an impression). Also the kid is already putting it on facebook that he is the new Jacob…cocky is not pretty. Jacob’s my favorite character and if his cockiness is big now then what’s it going to be like in the future, he would turn me off to Jacob altogether. I pretty much agree with everyone else that Barnes is not a good choice for Aro, who I always pictured as more mature. Though someone young would add a new dynamic I simply can not picture Barnes in the role, he doesn’t have enough dimension to pull it off. If there is actually someone reading this that has any say so in casting, please reconsider the actors for Jacob.

Jacob - I think that changing Jacob’s actor is no big deal - it’s not like he (Taylor) had a major part of Twilight anyway. Do you remember this? When Bella goes to Jacob’s house with the motorcycles in New Moon for the first time; she gets out of the truck and Jacob comes outside and she says ” Wow Jacob you’ve grown”. It’s perfect and already set up to be filmed.
Aro - Well like everyone else I also imagined him as older, but, the vamps are supposed to be all good looking, right? Maybe it will work out as long as Ben can play the part of someone who’s been around for “awhile” as Edward would say.
11/20/09 Release - Scary. This film like Eclipse is going to need a lot of attention. They don’t want to skimpy on the special effects or rush it. This is my favorite book out of all of them and I hope they do it justice.

I think Michael does look like an older brother for Taylor, however as someone mentioned up there Michael doesn’t have that innocent look.
Besides neither Michael Copon or Steven Strait have that smile that completely lights up the room like Taylor Lautner does. Taylor was perfect for Jacob, and he can play grouchy and annoying like Jacob is at times, he did so as Sharkboy.
I really hope they don’t replace Taylor, it’s so sad.

With saying that, those who are true Twilight fans know how Stephenie feels about CGI effects. Aside from the upcoming werewolves effects and SOME of the vampire “tricks” she wants as little as much CGI in the movies to keep the realm of her novels.
And with saying that, we the fans, have to come to turn that there was no way, shape, or form that Taylor was going to grow to 6′7 and look 26 from 16 in the course of a year. Let’s be real people, I love Taylor too, but come on! There is no amount of REALISTIC effects that would make Taylor Lauther a believable werewolf Jacob Black.
As far as Ben Barnes as Aro…I get it if they want to make the elders young a cute looking, but I just thought that Aro, Marcus, and Caius were older: not old like 50s-60s-70s old but like 30s-40s sexy, beautiful old; but whatever. Just as long as as they give them the black and white hair respectively and the milky white-red eyes.

So I don’t get the Michael Copon thing, I’ve never seen him in anything but just looking at him I don’t think he could pull off the Jacob persona. Look at a photo still of Steven Strait from the movie The Covenant next to a picture of Taylor Lautner he could be his older brother, I think he would be perfect for an older Jacob Black.
How on earth are they going to star someone as young as Ben Barnes as Aro, go back and read Bella’s description of Aro and his skin, I don’t think Ben Barnes is going to work. Catherine said when she cast Twilight it was incredibly hard because of how descriptive Stephenie was in the books. Also for all the people that keep suggesting Johnny Depp get over it the budget for this movie is only 50 million, unless you want the whole thing to be filmed Blair witch style or infront of a green screen there’s no way they can afford him!!
People need to calm down. Some of the expectations of the “FANS” are a bit ridiculous. I understand being passionate about the books but you had to know that once they decided to make it into a movie that it wasn’t going to be the same and that it wasn’t going to please everyone. When they first cast Twilight nobody wanted Rob as Edward, you have to think that the people who make movies have to know what they are doing, even if you don’t agree with it.
I will go see the movie and can’t wait to see it. I love the books but don’t expect them to even compare. For all of you that say if they change Taylor you won’t see the movie know that you will. You will be angry but you will still go see it. You can’t stay away from all the wonderful characters that Stephanie created and you want to see them come to life on the screen and will be there with all the rest of us.

When I first heard they were casting Taylor as Jacob I was thrilled. I saw Sharkboy and Cheaper by the dozen 2 and loved him in it. He is Jacob. You have no problem believing that he would be Bella’s “sun” through New Moon. And he can do bitter. I would personally not mind them ditching the growth spurt part of the story. Let him bulk up instead. There were also two other NA actors used in Twilight, one of which they actively cast as Sam. So if they replace Taylor, the same reasoning means they replace the other two. Considering the time crunch, major casting for roles already cast is a waste of resources. And considering how much Taylor was pimped out to all the Hot Topic tours and such, to not use him after we’ve all become attached to him is really underhanded.

Steven Strait, if anybody to replace Taylor. Jacob was supposed to have not only shot up, but looked older. The 3 key Volturi need to be older actors than what they are talking about. The young, cute/gorgeous Volturi minions were the ones out luring people in to feed the older ones who I don’t think were passing for gorgeous humans anymore. Read the book for gosh sakes. They were not supposed to be Carlisle’s contemporaries. They had been vamps much longer than him.
Ok, I like Ben Barnes. I looked at some photos from his latest movie and her CAN look older and quite serious. Aro has this air about him I think he can pull off.
NOW, as far as Jacob goes…he is suppose to be younger and Bella always talks about still seeing him in his larger self even after he first goes off with Sam and she doesn’t know why. Jacob always has a sweetness to him that I don’t think Capon can do. They should’ve thought of all this BEFORE casting Taylor…changing now will throw everything off!
As an avid twilight fanatic I think all the characters that appeared in Twilight should remain the same. I dont think they should change anyone. Let Copon be one of the other wolves seeing as how there is ten of them. I think Taylor should remain as Jacob. As for the role of Aro I think Barnes would be good. Just cast the characters that haven’t appeared yet. And please keep to the story line of the book. I realize there is a challenge with stuff in Twilight that sets us up for New Moon that was ommitted from the Twilight movie but there are many book fans out there who you din’t want to disappoint.
This is what we CAN do. I don’t know if it will make a difference, but if we all send the message, maybe we can change casting. I have mailed a letter ro Summit and a copy to Stephenie Meyer to keep Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. I was very nice (please don’t be mean), but I stated the my feelings about the recasting. So its funny because I’ve been talking to friends who are into Twilight as well and it the premiere of Twight i said to everyone Michael Copon would be perfect to play Jacob in the rest of the movies, and my dream came true! yay!
I am not really a big fan of changing people in the middle of a series. Next they are going to be changing other people too. Why not let Taylor try it out? He is supposed to be young at first. The director should take a few hours out of his life and read the book. He needs to get to know the story. Oh well. And I think that ben barnes is super gorgeous and that he would be an excellent addition to the yummy cast that is in place. I don’t think he should be Aro, but another vampire, sure. Aro is old and he is not, but what ever would work. I am quite sure that they will do a good job. Hopefully they won’t let tons of people down.

for the role of Jacob, there needs to be an actor that can fulfill the part dramatically and appearance wise. Taylor Lautner was perfect for the first one because he had that young teenage look. In New Moon Jacobs character matures and changes in appearance and he appears as “rough” and it is necessary to change Taylor into the pretty boy small boy, to Michael who i think can fulfill that role PERFECTLY! i love taylor, but he cant play this new character. AND BEN IS PERFECT TO!

Hum… I do not think they should replace Taylor! I mean he is already Jake to every one… I seriously think that if they replace him that there will be a riot of lost fans and that it will disappoint every one when the movie is not the success the fist one was. Unless the new Director of the Twilight movies wants a lot of fans coming to his door with those Torches and Pitchforks I think he should keep Taylor for now. And then do something when it comes time for him to change to Werewolf boy. Not everything is going to be perfect for the werewolves so why not just keep Taylor… I mean this is not suppose to be a big effect movie but couldnt they use some effects to make Taylor work out fine as Jake…

The casting for Aro is pretty cool, good news. But, what was that thing about Copon being Jacob? C’mon! Taylor Launter was the one person they casted that was actual my minds image of Jacob Black. Plus, he’s the teenage hearthrob for the next movie because Rob won’t be in it as much. Heck, he was on of the hearthrobs in this movie! Nothing against Copon, I mean, I bet he’s a great actor. But he’s not the right actor for this particular part, at least for me.
Honestly, switching Taylor Launter out at this point is like switching out one of the other characters that didn’t have the largest part in the movie. Like Jackson or Kellan. No one wants them replaced. No one wants Taylor replaced. If the fans don’t have a problem with it then neither should the casting director. I mean, the movie is for us and we all love Taylor.

Ok if Summit changes Taylor to Copon do you think all the Twilight fans will go and see New Moon? I’m a huge fan of Twilight and Jacob, and I want someone who has the same personality as Jacob to play him, and Taylor is perfect for the role. He has that smile that can make Bella’s day and Kristen and Taylor have chemistry. Make Copon try a scene with Kristen and see if they have chemistry. Copon seems too cocky and smug to be Jacob. My opinion is kick Copon out, let Taylor play the whole movie. And if that can’t be done…then use Steven Strait for the after-werewolf part of the movie. Copon is out of question. He’s way too cocky.
As for Ben Barnes…I always pictured Aro like Alan Rickman in Harry Potter…he always felt like Snape to me, I don’t know why. Ben Barnes is a bit too young for this. Alan has that powerdery look, but he would probably make a good Caius. Anyways, I always think they should pick someone middle-aged for the Volturi. BEn Barnes can be a guard, like Felix or Demetri.
I am not familar with Copon but to change from Lautner to Copon should not be done. Many fans have fallen in love with Launter and personally feel that he fit the part of Jacob perfectly! He looked just like how i imagined him to be, and it would be a huge let down to see someone else.In an interview he mentioned something about playing the role in New Moon, so the director could be letting the actor down as well.
