NEW INTERVIEW WITH TAYLOR LAUTNER AND EDI GATHEGI
MediaBlvd.com sat down with Taylor Lautner (Jacob) and Edi Gathegi (Laurent) at the San Diego ComiCon a few months ago to talk Twilight.
Here are some bits and pieces of the interview:

MediaBlvd> Did you do any research into the Native American culture?Taylor> I did actually, yeah. When I first went up to Portland to film, I met with some real Quileute Native Americans. We went out to dinner with them and got a chance to talk to them. The funny thing I learned is that they’re just like me. They showed up in basketball uniforms. Somehow, we got on the topic of what they like to do for fun, and they go to the beach and check out girls. It was really interesting to learn that they’re just like me.
MediaBlvd> Taylor, how do you get into character, in order to play a werewolf?
Taylor> Jacob is actually not even a werewolf yet. Eventually, he will be.
MediaBlvd> Are you looking forward to playing that, down the road?
Taylor> Definitely! Nothing’s for sure yet, so we’ll see. That’d definitely be cool.
MediaBlvd> Does any of the 2nd book work into the 1st movie?
Taylor> No.

MediaBlvd> Did they beef up your part at all, since Laurent has a relatively small role in the book?Edi> I wouldn’t say they beefed it up. We serve as the dramatic tension. You can’t have a movie without dramatic tension.
MediaBlvd> How was it to do the stunts in the film? Did you have any wire work?
Edi> We did wire work. We do all our own stunts. They’re live stunts. There’s no CGI stuff, like in other movies. I got to do the magic carpet, which is pretty much like a people-mover. It was moving 15 mph and I was walking on top of it, so the illusion is that I’m walking 30 mph through the forest. That was cool. There’s some really cool action stuff that I think guys will get a kick out of. There’s not just the romance for the girls, but action for the guys as well.

A lot of this information was really helpful. I know many Twilighters were worried that they brought some aspects of New Moon (like the werewolf bit) into Twilight, but it’s a relief (for me) to hear that Taylor said that none of New Moon was brought into the movie. And I also love that Edi confirmed that no CGI was used for the film.
Are you relieved to hear these things too? Or were you hoping that they’d transition into New Moon by adding some werewolf stuff into Twilight?

he looks totally different now than he did this past summer.
what gives?
This was a great interview. I am relieved to hear that they didn’t bring any of the “New Moon” content into it. It’s exciting to hear most of the actors say that they are fans of the books.
I love that Edi said this in response to the question about what fans are saying online: “But, I am a Twilight fan, so I am one of them. I’m online, checking out what people are talking about and what’s going on. I couldn’t wait for Breaking Dawn to come out. I’m a Twi-hard –a die-hard Twilight fan. I’m a dork.” That cracked me up!
I love Edi- its SO cool, b/c in all his interviews he talks about being a Twilight fan like all of us- that’s AWESOME that he loves it like that. And of course Taylor’s always great- such a perfect Jacob w/his friendliness. And I know some ppl were worried b/c things got misinterpreted and ppl thought they were gonna put the werewolves in Twilight- but I wasn’t b/c I knew they weren’t going to b/c Melissa Rosenburg, the screenwriter, only read the first book, so how could they? She didn’t even KNOW there were werewolves! So I’m not relieved at the news, only reassured… that would have totally screwed things up if they put the werewolves in Twilight. Wait for New Moon and (hopefully) a bigger budget, so they can do the werewolves right.
.
Anyway, great interview
omg i love reading the interviews with the cast !!! its so cool especially cuz its with taylor i love him he is an awsome guy, the perfect jacob, and a great actor . i also think its cool that most of the cast read the book so they can b sure and know a little bit more of what theyre doing …. i think its hott that ede is a twilight FAN just like all of uss … thats really cool . i would have never expected it from himm though ..
great interview enjoyed reading it :]
I agree with everyone that this was a great interview and they are great actors. It good that Nothing from the 2nd book was included, why would it? Wouldn’t make sense. I do have a question though… So how would seeing their skin sparkle work? It happens later on, but I think in the meadow scene it does also right? And their voices are to be musical? I asked my cousin and she said that I should be so analytical!! Oh alright =P
