Rob is included on the 2008 Rolling Stone Hot List.
“Twilight is a metaphor for the virtues of chastity, but it’s had the opposite effect,” a chagrined Robert Pattinson told us shortly before the goth blockbuster slayed audiences in late November. “I get letters that say, ‘I’m going to kill myself if you don’t watch High School Musical 2 with me.’ ” It was a little nuts: girls rampaging through malls for a glimpse of a relatively unknown 22-year-old British actor who played a brooding bloodsucker named Edward. But so far, the London-raised Pattinson (whose breakout was a memorable part in the Harry Potter series) has stayed humble. In his next film, Little Ashes, he will play a young Salvador Dali, as his advisers mull a trusted plan for plucking an actor from the tweenscape: Get him a role that puts a gun in his hand. But, Edward-mania will be hard to forget. Says Pattinson, “A mother recently gave me her baby and asked, ‘Can you please bite his head?’ “

Oh, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY AGREE! If you’re gonna ask for a movie date w/Rob, PLEASE…GOOD GRIEF…make it a MUCH better movie than HSM 2!!! *shakes head in disappointment and disgust* Frankly, I LOVE seeing Rob on various covers. I hope his other projects are given attention, too–not just Twilight. Fortunately, Twilight has catapulted him to mainstream recognition; now his smaller indie flicks should have less trouble securing distributors. I think a backlash may happen, but Rob has thick skin…heck, if he can shrug off the 75,000 signature petition against him (among other things), he can handle just about anything.
I would say that his popularity has risen from his role in Twilight. Throughout the many interviews I’ve seen, Rob is a humble and courteous young man who is also very charming. I believe he has a brilliant future ahead of him. Being an attractive man is a plus. He’s worked very hard to achieve his status which is well deserved.
Oh gosh no!!! He deserves every single bit of attention. Damn sexy I tell you. But at the same time I feel so bad for the fact that he isn’t even able to walk down the street now with out being bombarded. Love you Rob!

I really, really, adore Rob, but this picture of him is awful. I can’t even explain on how many levels seeing him with a cigarette is beyond shocking. The picture makes him look really trashy and he isn’t. I know he isn’t Edward, he’s Rob, but this is going too far.
Cigarettes are shocking? LOL, that’s funny! So he smokes, get over it! I do not smoke, but come on! It’s not like it’s a joint or anything!!! Lighten up and give the guy a break!
He deserves the recognition for the great acting in Twilight. He doesn’t deserve to be asked to see some teeny bopper HSM2 movie. I think all the hype and hysteria must be so draining. I watched the Tyra Banks show with he and Taylor Lautner and wanted to puke at the girls who were on the show. Give me a break!!! All the young girls screaming at him for this movie role are in love with Edward Cullen, not Rob. Rob is a really intriguing REAL person if you really get into what he is about. The photo for Rolling Stone does him no justice but yet takes a very realistic vision of him. What we seen on the big screen and tv is only subjective. So is this picture. We can take what we want from it. If I ever met him, I’d take a different approach to it and ask him more about what he’s interested in as far as music and art, etc. Not this BS about who’s he’s dating or what pandemonium is going around him! or go as far as asking him to “bite” me. That just goes beyond psychotic! March on Rob! I look forward to more of your work and music!!

You know, I love Rob waaay back then before Twilight and he is what he is, I think most fans forget that no matter how perfect or role model they want “Edward” to be, the character that Rob plays is always going to be a metaphor..and they forget that whatever character they play in movies, thier personal life is going to be totally different of what they play and the best part of it is they’re just humans like us, they get nervous, they burp, they fart, they’re stupid, they get high, they get drunk, and I still Rob the way he is, slob, cigarettes, personal hygiene or whatever, he is just Robert Thomas Pattinson and he is freakin 22, he’s having the best time of his life, so I’m happy for him!

I nearly licked the page when I got the new issue…I swear can you see yourself waking up to that, reaching over him, grabbing a cigarette out of the pack next to him, having him grab and hold you there for a moment while he kisses you good morning. Yeah, I’m officially crazy.

He is in his prime and he has a long bright and talented future. I love his music and adore his sexy voice. I hope the rolling stones and the cigarette company is paying him alot for that photo shoot. Cigarettes are a real turn off, not too mention bad breath and oh did I mention cancer.

He does not deserve any of the attention he is receiving. For one thing, he was TERRIBLE in Twilight. For another, how can he pose in a photo like that when he knows that millions of teenagers admire him? Really, I am totally sick of all of the attention Robert Pattinson is receiving. I think Summit Entertainment should find a new actor to play Edward.

To “Samantha”, you’re right, that comment I posted before was kind of out of line. In fact, I’d forgotten I’d posted it until I came back here. Though I do believe that perhaps his smoking in the photo was not a great idea, I don’t think Robert Pattinson is that bad of an Edward. I fully apologize if my comment before offended anyone, I did not mean it to.
