SUMMIT IS OFFICIALLY MAKING NEW MOON MOVIE??
CINEMABLEND.COM and Deadline Hollywood (Nikki Finke) are reporting that Summit is officially going ahead with the making of New Moon, the sequel to Twilight. Read more below:
For those of us who have been following the online frenzy surrounding Twilight, it seems like a no-brainer that the production company, Summit Entertainment, would go ahead and make a sequel based on the next book in Stephenie Meyer’s series. Now the company seems to have the same faith in their franchise that the teen girl fans do, and is officially going ahead with the Twilight sequel, New Moon.Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting the sequel news; she doesn’t cite any sources, but Finke is often the first to know these things regardless. Much of the rest of the article is what many of us already know– Twilight cost virtually nothing ($37 million) to make and is setting all kinds of records for trailers viewed online, soundtrack sales, and all the rest.
When your soundtrack isn’t even completed much less released (not until November 4th), yet it’s already in the Top 5 Best-Selling Albums on Amazon based on pre-sales alone, you know you have a hit. When Borders makes an exclusive calendar and sells out the first printing in a matter of days, you know you have a hit. And when the new trailer to your movie surpasses 3.5 million views less than 48 hours after its online debut, you know you have a hit. Which is why Summit Entertainment’s CEO Rob Friedman is already readying a Twilight sequel even though the vampire tween/tween movie isn’t set for release until November 21st which is the date vacated by Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince. Oh, and did I mention that Twilight has the fastest selling licensed merchandise since — you guessed it — Harry Potter?The trailer was streamed through Twilight’s widget from 8 PM to 9 PM for fans, then debuted for the general audience in HD on MySpace Trailer Park at 9 PM. The result: 2 million views in the first 24 hours on MySpace alone and 3.5 million views in cyberspace within the first 48 hours.

Wow! We knew it was possible that New Moon would be made, depending on the amount of money Twilight brought in. But now it’s official (sort-of) - we should probably consider this a rumor until it comes from the horse’s mouth….but squeal! How do you feel about New Moon being made?

Summit had me thinking we were going to have to wait to find out about New Moon, that’s what they were saying “It all depends on how well “Twilight” does” and I’m thinking “Twilight is going to be HUGELY GINORMOUS!!! How can you NOT make the other movies???” but they were being coy. This is SUCH good news!!! Though, yes, it will be AWFUL when Edward leaves, it will be exciting to see how the do the werewolves, to see Jacob transform and everything- and then, we’ll get to see the Volturi, too- it’ll be interesting to see how they make Aro, Caius and Marcus look…SOOOOO exciting!!!!!
Im sooooooo nervous!!! I dont know how good of an actor Kristen Stewart is yet… and im soooo afraid she’ll butcher one of my fav parts of the books……. the worst moment on my life, the most beautiful and tragic moment, when Edward left…. its such a….. meaningful moment in so many hearts that if they screw it up in the LEAST they will probably be murdured in their sleep, (not kidding actually). (no, that was not a threat, I’D never kill anyone, but i know a bunch of people who would…)

I. Cannot. Deal. AHHHHHH! That’s amazing!!! The good news just keeps on coming!!!! I really thought that we were going to have to wait awhile after Twilight was released to see the results & whether it would be possible to make the sequels…but it looks like Summit knows that we Twilighters are just going to keep on smashing records! I can’t wait to see how they decide to adapt the story to the big screen…I feel like a lot of it is internal for Bella (obviously even more so than Twilight was) and hopefully they’ll be able to portray that right. And obviously, the break up…well, I’m pretty sure the entire theatre will be bawling our eyes out together, but even that I’m looking forward to. Can’t wait to get the New Moon countdown going …

I had a sneaky suspicion that Summit would give the greenlight for New Moon. As much hype as there is, it would be foolish NOT TO CASH IN to the franchise. Besides, much like everyone here (I’m sure) I can remember what I felt when Edward left. So seeing it on the silver screen will be heart-wrenching to say the least.
But, then… we get to see the Volturi! I have a few suggestions about who to play those parts. My mine one would’ve been Vincent Price as Aro. That is if Vincent Price wasn’t already deceased. Anyone else have ideas of who would play the parts?
I’m so psyched that they are making new moon a movie but if they do they better make eclipse and breaking dawn! becasue new moon was the one i HATED i mean edward left and i hate jacob and it was mainly about him and it sucked so much!! Jacob sucks! he was fine in the first book but ugh his character just had to develop anyway i just hope they make them all into movies!!

I would love to see how SUMMIT plans to convey NEW MOON, I feel they would have to expand on what Edward (and the rest of the Cullen Coven) did all those months away as well as build the Bella/Jacob relationship as the book did…I am SOOOOOO pumped!(there has also been talks that they wanted to do all 3 movies for sure..Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse, but they are not certain if they will attempt Breaking Dawn just yet) but to have a final confirmation on New Moon brings me hope. CAN’T WAIT! CAN’T BREATHE! I JUST CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF THE TWILIGHT SERIES!!!!!

I’ve read the first three books in the series four times and am on the 2nd reading of the fourth book. Can’t wait for Twilight to come out and am so happy you are doing New Moon. I am 63 years old and have seen a friend in her late 70’s reading the books. I sure hope you do all four books into movies!!!! A bunch of us ladies that walk together are going to Twilight as soon as it comes out. We’ll undoubtedly go more than once. Sure hope the movie does the characters in the books justice.

You know I think Edward is amazing, at times Bella is kinda whinny an for heaven sacks pick one of them! But in the end she proves me wrong! I love these books,so powerful with emotion! But I must say I have never ever been into fiction an I love JACOB BLACK- love him love him! I am hoping she writes a serise on him an Renesme. WOW, am i ever excited! I loved New Moon and Jacob in it, I don;t know why so many people hate him!! I think it may do just as well if not better than harry potter in theatres, I know alot of people between the ages of 12 and 40 that read the books…and the ages probably go even higher. Harry Potter does attract the attention of all ages too, but you have to be into that stuff, not one person i have talked to doesnt like the twilight saga. Where is i know people who after reading harry potter, didnt like it and never ended up reading the rest of the books. The only thing is that its mainly girls who are interested in Twilight…Haha the theatre will be PACKED with girls…Im going to the midnight showing and i will have to be at the theatre at like 9:30 lol

Twilight had to be one of the best movies i’ve seen in a LONG time
at first i was kind of nervous for twilight because of the lack of humor in the first book and I was afraid that it would only be about “living the greatest love story”
so I’m SO glad that they added humor to the first one
It will be awful when edward leaves, but It will be so cool to see how they do the Volturi and the pack of wolves and everything, and now we’ll really get to see what jacob is like, all those team jacob fans will be proud, and may I add that he is absolutly GORGEOUS without his hair.
But in other ways it’ll be different from the book because what about where laurent tries to kill bella in the meadow and the wolves save them? It’ll be interesting to see how that comes out.
I really hope that this isn’t just a rumor and they end up doing the rest of the books.
IM SOOOO EXCITED TWIGHLIGHT WAS AMAZING!!! i went to the midnight showing in my town and it was so awesome the pick of the cast was perfect i understand why they picked who they did and they did a fabulous job on the movie although it didnt have as much detail in some parts as the book and it didnt show all the parts but i understand it would have been a five plus hour movie if they showed everything! but all over i totally give it a 10 out Of 10 score it was Fabulous!!! and i cant wait for new moon!

Twilight was awesome! I was not upset with any of the choices made to bring this film to life! New Moon will be even better. Yeah Edward leaves but you know they’ll still have him a lot in the movie expecially when Bella feels like because she is doing something dangerous he talks to her! Hello they know how to sell the movies! And as for Jacob it’s hard to see him as anything as shark boy! LOL! My six year old loves that movie!

I swear when i saw Twilight i was seriously giggling almost the whole movie and what was really weird was that i just moved a year ago here at Mexico but like always they put subs. in spanish leaving it in english and it was freaking halerious because i understood the funny parts of the movie and everyone just turns around to look at me wondering why its so funny…Im acutualy exited to see New Moon…im 100% sure that im going to end up crying the whole movie and i swear these people are going to think im out of my mind. ^_^
I heard that they have already started the filming for new moon and eclipse…my opinion is-is that they’ll release new moon and eclipse soon after cause new moon can somewhat be a downer on some readers. so i think they’ll release new moon in the summer and hopefully release eclipse in the winter of 2010.

I am so glad they are turning New Moon into a movie. Twilight was really good maybe not as good as the book,but still good. I so hope they turn all the books into movies!! Guys on November 21 guess what I did!A mystery I know right. I went to see Twilight at 12:01 on November 21 I was one of the first people to see it me and the 500 other Team Edward fans!!!lolOne thing I am so not going to like about New Moon the movie is that Edward/Robert leaves.I am going to bawl my eyes out when he leaves and when he comes back.As you know I wont be the only one doing it me and my fellow Edward lovers!!!!!But a good thing about the movie is that we finally get to see some werewolf action or as the Volturri would call them in Breaking Dawn (shapeshifters).

I’ve been reading and all the actors signed on for the first 3 movies but were waiting for the green light from Summit… and now they have it! They believe shooting will begin Spring ‘09 and the movie will be released in 2010. I don’t know if I can wait that long!!! But figure they will have to shoot movies back to back to keep the actors from aging! I also heard that the script was done! With a pay raise to the actors and an increase in budget they are only going to get better! But the are wondering about “Team Edward” fans and New Moon since he isn’t really around in the book they are thinking they may have to find some ways to sneak him in to give us girls what we want to see!!! Can’t wait to hear more!!!!

I can not wait for New Moon. This Is literally the best news I’ve heard in weeks. I cried so hard when edward left Bella in the book I’m going to absolutly bawll my eyes out when I watch it on screen. its going to be sooooooooooo sad but its also going to be soooo great (the movie not edward leaving LOL). Cant wait to see the cast again they are such great actors. Twilight was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m from the Philippines and even here boys and girls alike are way too crazy over Edward and Bella.. I hate New Moon because Edward would leave and I would like to fast forward it to Eclipse! I hope they would at least release one series each year.. Or maybe six months apart? hahaha! its great news that they wana make new moon now. but for those that have REALLY read the twilight saga. twilight the movie was a dissappointment ! yeah it was good. but it didnt show the way they fell in love with each other. not even the REAL lullaby. but now for new moon edward not in it. but i thing they should show when he gets the phone call from rosalie telling him that bella died. and also a flashback of sams frist transformation. and i should feel the pain that i felt while reading the book!! but other then that good luck with that. and now ill act like the crazz fan that i am ! the only problem is that summit is talking about having more scenes of Edward in new moon to please the Edward fans which is bad because it won’t end with a dramatic reunion ending. and they are shooting new moon and eclipse back to back which means they are going to shoot them both around the same time and edit into 2 movies. I’m so scared… i hope it turns out alright…

Pretty sure that the Twilight movie sucked so why would they even consider making a New Moon movie? Oh I think I know why, probably because they want to make us all bleed out of our ears since the next movie will surely be a disaster as well.

I am sooooo looking forward to NEW MOON —- only if the keep TAYLOR as JACOB!!!! If they try to replace him, it will be an injustice to him and all his fans. He has made this character and isn’t that the point of movie making to make things “appear” the way you want them to. Is that not what make up artists and CGI people are for! Come on spend the extra little $$$ to make all of us TWILIGHTERS happy. I will have to boycott this movie if they re-cast JACOB! All my friends are on board also.
When I re-read the books (and I have many times), Taylor is who I picture in my head as JACOB - noone else-! If we can’t have Catherine, than at least trust her opinion on the cast and leave TAYLOR as JACOB!!!!!!

Ummmm..wow i was never really “into” the whole Twlight series, but after watching the movie and touching up on the books, their really awsome and im litterally “hooked”. I cant put down the books and i find myself staying up really late, just to read a cupple extra pages! But im really excited to know that there is another movie comming out soon!
I will not cry when Edward leaves but I will be mad considering that without him there is no story. But then an exciting thing is that JACOB TURNS INTO A WARE WOLF. After that since Alice and Bella are best friends Alice comes back to tell Bella that she saw a vision about Edward so they go and get him! : ) !!!!!!!
