Honestly, alot of you are going to hiss at me like Rosalie but I feel for Jacobs character to grow Summit needs to replace Taylor. Taylor Lautner is the PERFECT Jacob. So he isnt as tall as the character calls…give him lifts or what have you. He deserves the job he’s perfect for the char. of Jacob Black
the only consideration other than taylor, would be steven strait. he is taller than the other considerations named, to justify that aspect. and he is the only one i can imagine in the role other than taylor.
I personally would HATE it if Taylor Lautner got replaced by Michael Copon. Copon is not even NATIVE American! He is a PHILIPINO! He doesn’t look anything like Jacob Black. Yes, he is muscular, yeah okay, he is OLDER looking.. but come on, why can’t they keep Taylor? After all the loyalty that he has displayed towards the role in the Twilight Saga, why oh why in the world is Summit REALLY thinking about replacing him?! If Harry Potter can make Robbie Coltrane look 10 feet tall, Lord of the Rings can make Elijah Wood look 2 feet tall and The Hulk can make Edward Norton look massively ripped, I don’t see a good enough reason. Summit is WEAK!

I agree with Kerri. I think Taylor is a great actor and was a perfect “young” Jacob but I just don’t see him as the older, bigger and cocky Jacob. I’ve watched Michael on One Tree Hill as sweet, nice and charming with a bit of arrogance perfectly which I think is how Jacob is with Bella in New Moon. And I also think Catherine did well with Twilight but I think New Moon will be bigger and better with Chris. We shall see anyway…

I think that by recasting Jacob now just showsa lack of foresight on Summitt’s part. They knew what was to come in the books and therefore should have cast someone who could become jacob intime. As it is now, Taylor should not be punished for thier mistakes. Take the Benjamin Button CG direction and lets keep Taylor.
Micheal Copon is too “hollywood sexy” to be Jacob. Taylor IS Jacob.

I think Michael Copon has a chance at being Jacob..but then again, Taylor is just as suitable. I prefer Taylor, but they both resemble to me..not MUCH of a difference, but a definate loss if he is replaced; many fans will be lost.

Steven Strait should be considered for the part of Jacob. Michael Copon looks too old and not good enough actor on the big screen and this is why a lot of fans are upset of replacing Taylor because Michael is not good enough to replace Taylor, but I think many fans will accept Steven Strait as a better replacement for Taylor. Steven is already taller than Rob and is just as HOT and SEXY as Rob. Taylor is better than Michael. So if you’re going to replace Taylor, replace him with someone better, like Steven Strait.
My daughter and I agree Taylor is best for the roll of Jacob Black. Micheal may have been in the Scriopon king 2. But his first major role was in Bring it on, in it to win. Do we really want someone who played a male cheer leader as Jacob? At least Steven has played a witch.

Ok so about summit replacing Taylor all I have to say is that I am a little disappointed. Taylor was a good Jacob and I’m not gonna get use to not seein him on the movie screen as Jacob the sweet and kind werewolf. But then again the new Jacob is WAY HOTTER!!! But what would be better is if they get Steven Straight to be like the present day Jacob for the rest of the movie and then Taylor could be the Jacob in the first part of the movie.

They should have a new actor play the second part. It is a natural progression. A. Vamps don’t age, so hopefully they get done with these before R pats gets any older. B. Bella will age normally, as with the character. C. Jacob needs to get WAY bigger so it’s unrealistic to think that he can pull off the character after he matures. Hey I know it’s a movie, but come on, he has to become a little more rugged don’t you think? It even states that in the book.

When seeing the movie Twilight, Taylor Laurent was the ONLY actor that I felt that fit the description in the book. Afterall, is Robert Pattinson, the most beautiful and perfect guy on earth? Is Nikki Reed actually 6 feet tall? But they made us believe they were. Taylor is young but so is his character in the book. With the budget that they have for New Moon, I am sure they can do makeup and special effects that will allow “Jacob” to look more the part after his metamorphisis. Do you think that ANY actor out there is going to be 7 feet tall? We need some consistency!
And while we are at it, can we petition to make sure that they DO NOT put Robert Pattinson (Edward) throughout New Moon? Don’t get me wrong…I love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but he needs to leave the movie audience as well as Bella out in the woods. I think we need to experience that emptiness just as she does. If you do “flashbacks” or show him Tracking, then all that will do is satisfy the need for the swooning teenagers rather then be true to the storyline or to allow Robert and Kristen to act out that grand coming back into each others lives scene in Italy. Have Robert do voice overs just like Bella heard in her head…NO VISUALS! (And believe me, the thought of Robert not being in the movie that much kills me but he will be back in full force in Eclipse and hopefully, Breaking Dawn.)

Lautner’s really been working hard to fit the role of Jake in New Moon, I think he should be given it. Copon seems really cocky to me. Well, okay, that is a lot like Jake, but no one wants that in real life! He hasn’t even read New Moon. It’s ridiculous.

Steven Strait by far surpasses my expectations of what older Jacob should be. He’s drop dead gorgeous, plus in New Moon we need to feel kind of swayed towards Jacobs character. Taylor Lautner is the only one who can play Jacob. Steven Strait is a wonderful actor but hes way too white. and Taylor even has some native american in him on his mom’s side he has Potawatomi and Ottawa. He can bulk up, and there are tricks to make him taller. and of course due to his martial arts training he is agile and will be able to do all the running that Jacob requires. i repeat Taylor Lautner is the only one who can play Jacob.
Steven Strait would be perfect. Watch The Covenant movie. He fits well as a mature Jacob for New Moon. He’s 6′2″, one inch taller than Robert Pattinson, which is perfect, not too tall but a good rival. This Michael guy would ruin the movie. He doesn’t come close to being Jacob.

Steven Strait is 22yrs old, same age as Robert Pattinson. Taylor L. seems like a nice guy, but nice guys like him can’t carry a major blockbuster movie like New Moon. We need a star, not a character actor. Jacob has to rival Edward. Taylor L. doesn’t even come close to rivaling Robert P. This movie needs to be successful to make sure Robert P. and Kristen S. continue on with the third movie, Eclipse. These two have huge careers ahead of them, if the movie flops then they probably wouldn’t want to have anything to do with the 3rd movie. Steven S. can carry a major movie, Taylor L. can’t at this point. We need to feel conflicted on who to choose for Bella! Taylor doesn’t do it.
By the way, listen to the song, “Breathe” by Angels and Airwaves! This song should be put on the next movie soundtrack!

if you watch the movie or look at clips from the movie “undiscovered” with steven strait you will see he is the PERFECT replacement for jacob. he has same way of speech and mannerisms and same facial features, if they want jacob to get older in new moon go with steven strait PERFECTION!

I love Taylor Lautner, but I really have to say that Steven Strait is more suited to be Jacob. Why do I say this well here you go.
1. He’s taller than Taylor.
2. He’s already got the appropriate amount of muscles for the movie, lets face no matter how much Taylor bulks up his body isn’t ready for the kind of musculture that is needed to be Jacob.
3. Strait has a proven record of being able to adapt to any role.
4. He definately could slid right into the role without disrupting the Twilight continume.
5. He’s way younger looking that Capone which would make a horrible choice. If Steven wasn’t a factor Taylor would be the one I would pick. No way I would ever ever pick Capone. Its Steven or Taylor and right now I defiantely am leaning toward Steven.

I really don’t like Michael C. for the part, but if they want to replace Taylor, then I think it should be Steven Strait.
I absolutely adored Taylor in the film adaptation because he was actually one of my choices and when he got the role, my jaw WOULDN’T get off the floor! I know he’s working REALLY hard to bulk up (he’s already changed!) but since production is a few months away, I think it’s time to move on with a new actor. Please let me explain,
The premise of New Moon is a older looking Jacob that comes in to the picture and gets close with Bella. He becomes a MAJOR player along with Bella and Edward as leads and personally, I don’t think Taylor could do this since he’s still a minor at 16 and even by the time it’s his birthday, he would still be underage and they would have to shoot around him rather than with him.
Yes I absolutely agree Steven Strait should take over the role because to most during the “pre-movie” phase, he was already Jacob Black to a majority of fans. He’s got the looks (he and Taylor look a like), the acting chops, he’s pretty tall, a smile that can light up the room and can definitely be THE Jacob Black.
Then again, who knows if he’s even interested?
Michael Copon SHOULD NOT be Jacob simply because of how childish his antics that he and his publicist (really?) would shamelessly promote himself through the internet (how surprising?). He’s a rude guy that acts like he’s “all that” when his acting credits are utterly laughable compared to Taylor’s and Steven’s. Not to mention, all these “interviews” he did obviously shows him in a bad light when he takes jabs at Taylor calling him 5′6″ (he’s 5′9″), picking on him about his weight and claiming he could’ve had the role from the start! He called the sequel “Twilight 2″ for Pete’s sakes! Shows how well he “knows” the books!
Steven Straight! Blatently! He’s taller than both Lautner and Copon, and cuter, and better for the part! And for older-looking Jacob in the book, he’d be perfect! When he starts to look older I mean! Fans will know what I mean!

Movies take so long to make that Taylor will have aged enough between and he is already working out which shows dedication. They can hide that he is not that tall. If you recast with an older looking actor he will be too old looking by the end. Already Taylor looks older and buffer. Stay with Taylor or you will have a bunch of thirty-something looking actors playing teens and twenties-somethings.

Steven Strait is a very versatile and intense character. his chameleon-ish abilities would definitely make a really good older jacob, if jacob needs to be changed at all. STeven Strait, if you are up to it, itll b great!
I think Steven Strait is perfect. Plus, he looks attractive in long hair and short hair(and a pony tail). He has the perfect smile. He has a husky voice. Steven can play ‘new moon’, ‘eclipse’, and ‘Breaking Dawn’ Jacob perfect. Plus he is flippin hot! Oh and STEPHENIE MEYER PICTURED HIM AS JACOB. BOOYAH!
i think tayor is just right for jacob. but if they had to change him, they should put in michael because they look alike a little. hopefully, they keep taylor. but otherwise, michael is a good enough replacement. if they replace taylor, they could bring him back as seth? i can totally picture him as seth. sweet and inocent all over again.
I really hope that they keep Taylor in the role. As I read the series, it’s Taylor’s face that’s in my head. I thought he was wonderful. So much of what Bella loves about Jacob is his smile - and Taylor’s got a killer one!
I saw the movie before I read the books and I pictured Taylor as Jacob the whole time. Then I heard the rumors about him getting replaced by Michael Copon and I tried to continue reading and picture him. I couldn’t. I recently watched the Covenant and I think that if they can’t keep Taylor that they should get Steven Strait. Taylor and Steven resemble each other. If anything they should start Taylor out before he turns.. and then bring Steven in. Just my opinion,

Steven Strait all the way. Obviously lots of other twilighters like him since he is in many of the different Twilight youtube videos. To me Michael Copon looks more asian than indian and I don’t think he would fit the look of Jacob.

SUMMIT KEEP TALYOR LAUTNER FOR THE FIRST HALF… once Jacob Black CHANGES… it better bloody be STEVEN STRAIT!!
Why you may ask? Here are the reasons:
One: Acting ability.
Taylor Lautner: I saw him in Shark Boy and Lava Girl… he outshone everybody in that movie… he could even sing! I’m not the one for corny movies but his acting ability made me watch over and over with my little sisters and brothers. He is a good actor for his age. DON’T change him unless you are an complete idiot.
Steven Strait: You couldn’t but help fall for his character in Sky High. At first I didn’t like his character in the movie but then he smiled and won you over! That movie I also, sadly, found myself watching many times over. Same with the covenant! I own it now. Honestly, in 10 000 BC, I didn’t wish to even see that movie, but his and camilla’s acting and portrayal was better than I expected.
Michael Copon: Honestly, I wanted to watch Scorpion King 2… sadly admit it I will, BUT, yes there’s a but. I HAD to walk away. The script terrible, maybe his acting was due to that. I remembered seeing him in another movie… Bring It On series thing… I didn’t even remember his character, I just rememebered the goth chick and the gay guy wannabe. He doesn’t memorable acting. The only way I would accept him as the part, was if Steven Strait turned it down. But then I might not even go see then. P.S. I love Scorpion King the first one and the second movie almost ruined my love for it.
It’s a leading role… get a LEADER!
Facial Comparison and Analysis:
Not only am I critical, I am also an artist and I’ve been drawing portraits since I could pick up a pencil or any other form of medium. So therefore, I’m checking eyes and everything! And I have three pictures so you know that I am not being biased. I am actually measuring to check, since I am a perfecionist.
Taylor Lautner and Steven Straight:
They have the same smile and teeth. Not kidding it’s crazy!!!! They both have longer sharper looking canines. Their smile is uncannily similiar. Same blindingness and charm exude from it on film.
Not only when they smile is it similiar, but their faces crinkle the same. If that isn’t weird enough.
They have the same eye shape… which is heavy lidded almond shaped paired with similiar thick eyebrows. They are even the same size.
Their noses are the same.
Jawline: They’re narrow but yet wide. They are narrowly masculine. Their chins are almost exactly rounded the same.
Thier noses are the same width.
Not only that if you presume to look at pic of them, you will see they also share the same body bone structure. Yep! I checked that too! Hoo Ha!
Not only that, they share the same acting ability and charm on screen. I don’t know them offscreen, if I did, Well, I would state that comparison, too.
Michael Copon and Taylor Lautner:
They don’t have the same smile like Steven Strait and Taylor Lautner do. Though it is a nice smile, it doesn’t charm you completely like theirs. What is similiar, maybe the lips.
Michael’s eyes are too small in comparison to Taylor’s. I mean measure them. Your eyes should be five spaces across your face. And he has tiny eyes, not at ALL shaped like Taylor’s.
Michael’s jawline… I love his jawline. It is a very masculine jawline, but Taylor doesn’t have that kind of jawline.
Taylor has thicker eye brows than Michael does. They’re not even the same shape! Taylor’s eyebrows are rounded at the ends like Steven’s. Michael’s are very straight. They have points. His cheeks dont’ apple out like Steven’s and Taylor’s do. They have very rounded cheeks, slightly plump looking where Michael has less fleshy cheeks. They don’t apple out. Michael has a thicker bone structure, while Taylor’s and Steven’s is more narrow.
Michael just doens’t exude the kind of impression that Steven Strait and Taylor Lautner have in common. It would be a poor choice, if they are given the choice to have steven over michael.
Not only that, but I will conclude that Michael Copon is OLDER than Steven Straight. There still has to be that sixteen year old feel. Jacb may be physical maturing due to his were wolf genes, but maturity wise, he is not twenty five. He is still his age and acts it.
Taylor Lautner and Steven Strait have the same star status, I can see it. They impress me, even when I was thinking that the movies were in were going to suck. I would most definately not only PAY to go see this movie if Steven Strait was in it, but I’d SEE IT TWICE. When the first movie came out, I didn’t pay to see it, someone else did, and I almost didnt’ go, but SERIOUSlY I am huge fan of the Book EDWARD and not the BOOK JACOB, but for screen wise, I went to see Taylor Lautner’s performance of Jacob Black which depressed me because of his lack of lines and he was trying for the chemistry where he was you know crushing on Bella when she was wooing info out of him, but of course Kristin Stuart DID NOTHING, unlike the book Bella. I will see NEW MOON, though it was my least favorite book due to the fact Jacob starred in it, but for THE MOVIE! Hell yes! I love Taylor Lautner for Jacob, and Steven Strait would be most exceedingly excellent for the physical advanced were wolf Jacob. I mean watch Sky High, if that doens’t scream Jacob Black Were Wolf, you didn’t you read the book and are probably illiterate.
If you do need to replace anyone it would be the two leads. I’m an old twilight fan, and wasn’t impressed by the expressionless Bella, who in the book, is SARCASTIC and goofy, humorous, and loving.
Edward is charming, witty, not constipated looking when Bella walks into the room in biology class on the first of meeting. You know…
Not only that, but honestly. Most if not 95% of the readers already, way before the movie came out, did already see Steven Strait as the perfect Jacob. I mean even Stephenie Meyer had quoted to be saying on her site www.stepheniemeyer.com BEFORE the movie was even casted, that Steven Strait was absolutely how she pictured Jacob Black in his were wolf version. LIKE HELLO!!!! Michael Copon is definately NOT Jacob Black. Jacob is sweet in an arrogant love sense. He wants to be better than Edward, well he wants to be chosen over Edward. But when Bella tells Jacob how he she feels about him, he always has that sweet side to him. Just like Warren Peace did in Sky High. He was an sweet bad boy.
You can’t keep Taylor Lautner through out the whole movie unless he has an exceptional physical growth spurt. It’d take too much of the film’s budget to represent him as the Jacob we all loved or disliked in New Moon. I dont’ want it to be horrible like the first one was. The budget wasn’t spent that well in the first one. I’ve seen movies with lower budgets, but they had waaaay better quality. I’ve taken a computer production tech course and could probably get better quality combined with the talents of my fellow classmates. It was terrible. You could see the strings on the tree climbing parts… which by the way was idiotic to add…
You can’t keep Taylor Lautner… I LOVE HIM LOTS as the young Jacob Black but for the older version you NEED STEVEN STRAIT!!!!!!!! They are similiar as i have above proceeded to compare and he is an amazing actor.
Make all of our ORIGINAL dreams come true, AND STEPHENIE MEYERS!!!! Steven Strait was originally perfect.
Hey i think Steven Strait should be the new Jacob…just imagen how cute he will be in the movie and just as irresistable like in the book…she almost loves Jacob and it should be like that in the movie two and Steven Strait is a great actor too..besides the fact that he is sooooo hot!!!!…
Ok, when i heard that they were planning to replace Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black i was on the train…and the whole train heard me scream…They can’t replace Taylor Lautner, he was there from the very start and i think he should stay til the end…who cares if in the middle of “New Moon” he grows and becomes six foot…theres this new thing…its called technology…if in the first Pirates of the Caribbean they airbrushed Keira Knightley breasts then im sure they can do something about Taylors height.
If they replace him im sure that HEAPS of people will be VERY dissapointed.
Even though Twilight made it to the top of the box office, who’se to say that if they replace Taylor “New Moon” will get there like the first?
And why in the world are they recasting ANY roles? They should have thought about that when they first started making the movies, they had three other books to read and get more information from about the characters…Im sure there are a few hundred people around the world that would be dissapointed about any re-casting of any role…these people should think about what these things do, not only to the actors and their families, but also to the fans that follow there every movie movement.

steven strait would be a great replacement for taylor lautner. i don’t think michael copon will fit for the role of jacob… The new jacob in eclipse is so hot,.,. and i think michael copon is not that hot,., STEVEN STRAIT IS THE PERFECT CHOICE,.,. please let him be the one,.,.but don’t recast the others, their so perfect for it,.,i’ll be so disappointed too if it it’ll happen.,.
OMG!I totally agree! From the beginning I said Steven Strait should be Jacob. I mean to say that Taylor Lautner is great but, Steven would fit in much better. Yes it would be dissapointing if anyone got recasted but it would totally fit in because Jacob has to grow, and Taylor does not look like Jacob is described, he still looks like a little kid. I think Michael Copon would also be a good choice for a replacement but, Steven all the way! ☺
Hey, I LOVE TAYLOR! But, Steven Strait is awesome. He is bigger and they look about the same, so no one wwould notice. Steven is also older and a hunk monkey! He is SOO HAWT. He is just like Jacob. He can pull off being aggressive but a sweet,caring, then tough,yet,loving guy! He is a PERFECT Jacob.
STEVEN STRAIT!
He WOULD work! duh.. Before the movie, all my friends keep telling me that Steven Strait should play Jacob. He is tall, looks DAMN SEXY with long hair *and his shirt off*, has that boyish smile, and his looks and aura can put up a pretty good rivalry against Jacob and Edward.
IMAGINE. The poster of New Moon with Rob and Steven staring at each other, for their love for Bella. There’s this awesome tension [In Twilight, I didn’t even see a tiny spark between that ’staring’ moment’ between Jacob and Edward].. Plus he fits the bill, he is tall enough, buff enough, sexy enough *duh*.. He could pull off a better Jacob. He could even surpass Rob’s sexiness, which is good, to heighten the rivalry.
If Summit really wants to STAY TRUE TO THE BOOKS, then they better stick to how the readers imagined Jacob in New Moon.

OMG!!! STEVEN STRAIT should soooo replace Jacob!! Taylor is too Kid-ish looking for jacob he was fine to play him in Twilight but in new moon he is supossed to look older & STEVEN STRAIT would be perfect!!!! I mean hey if STEVEN STRAIT is Jacob I’ll be TEAM JACOB!!! I hope sooo much that STEVEN is the new Jacob Black & I will be VERY dissapointed if he isn’t!!! I’ve always pitured Jacob to look like STEVEN STRAIT!! STEVEN is a better acter & A LOT better looking!!!! I REALLY, hope they replace Taylor with STEVEN. Steven Straight shud take JACOB BLACK’s place hes more grown up looking compared to taylor. I just watched the Covenant and think that he is perfect for the role. He just an older version of Taylor. If taylor plays the role I personally think it might destroy the movie. He looks like a lil kid to me, i just won’t get a good vibe off him trying to be romantic.
u see when i started reading the twilight books steven strait was who i pictured in my head as edward i dont think he would work as jacob. but robert pattinson plays a gd enward even tho even now when i read the books i still dont see him as my edward in my head haha madness xx
I always pictured Eddie Spears. Hot, tall, NATIVE AMERICAN. Hot. Taylor just looks goofy. Eddie has the whole bad boy vibe too, besides being smoking hot.
For one, I wish people would stop spelling Stephen Strait’s name wrong. Two, I think he would be the best Jacob Black. Taylor was great but as was in the book, he wasn’t in the movie much either. Jacobs character doesn’t even start to really come out unti New Moon anyway So if Summit wants to stay true to the book they should find someone more suitable for the roll. And not worry so much on the popular opinion.
I think Steven Straight should play one of the guys in the wolf pack. however I think Taylor should keep his role as Jacob. Wouldn’t that make a hot mix.
I also think the role of Heidi should of went to Amy Lee the lead singer of evanescence.
