ACCESS HOLLYWOOD: TAYLOR LAUTNER DEBUTS HIS BUFF NEW BOD
Access Hollywood has a great new interview with Taylor Lautner, who was just recently confirmed to reprise his role as Jacob Black in ‘New Moon’. They ask him all the questions we’ve all been wanting to know - including how many pounds he’s gained thus far, what will happen with Jacob’s hair in ‘New Moon’, and much more.
Some actors will go to extremes to get a part, but to reprise his role of Jacob Black in “New Moon,” the sequel to “Twilight,” Taylor Lautner told Access Hollywood he has had to “basically kill myself.”“I get into the gym every single day, seven days a week, two hours a day, eat as much as I possibly can,” he told Access at our 3rd Annual ‘Stuff You Must Lounge’ at the Sofitel LA hotel on Saturday. “[I’m] going crazy.”
The buff actor said he’s put on 26 pounds since starting his training regimen the day after he finished filming “Twilight” — and he’s not done yet.
“I put on 20 pounds and then I guaranteed 10 more pounds,” he said. “I”ve already put on about six, so four more pounds. I’m a man of my word.”
Taylor was confirmed for the role by “Twilight” saga author Stephenie Meyer and “New Moon” director Chris Weitz on Wednesday, but he wasn’t always a lock for the part.
The character of Jacob becomes a towering werewolf in “New Moon,” raising questions over whether the young star would be bulky enough to play the part again — which left Taylor at the gym.
But he said the hard work is paying off.
“It’s motivation for my passion [for] the character,” he said. “I knew it was a necessity for the character. I’m stoked to be a part of this.”
Now that he’s back, Twilighters may wondering what will happen with the long hair he sported in “Twilight” — and he said it’s coming off.
”[Jacob] cuts it off when he transforms into a werewolf. He chops it all off, so we’ll see how it’ll look,” he said.
Filming for “New Moon” begins at the end of March, but for now, Taylor’s still riding high on the $200M success of “Twilight.”
“It’s mind-blowing,” he said. “I don’t think anyone saw it coming.”

I think Taylor seriously surprised the camera man with the biceps and the major 8pack. Taylors already attractive body is transforming into the new and advanced Jacob Black body. I was one of the people that didn’t really care for Taylor as Jacob because his look just seemed to young. The added weight has made him look older which is a great improvement.
Taylor might just be cut out for Jacob after all. I do admire his hard work and persistence for the role. That alone is bringing me over to Team Taylor more than just a little.

I just want Taylor to know how proud of him I am and I knew that he could do it and prove everyone wrong. I know that he reads these blogs. I have been supporting him from day one of his journey through all of the Taylorhaters. i’m so happy taylor got the part, he deserves it, and he’s so adorable with his modesty, i don’t think that “a little” would be my choice of words when describing his six pack, (or eight pack, am i the only one who sees that?) he’s working so hard and i think his personality is perfect for the happy side of jake, i hope he knows how much we adore him and that we’ll be rooting for him even though we know we want bella to be with edward (he makes us forget)
I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one in my early twenties (23, sigh) feeling bad for checking him out. No word of a lie, I squealed like the obsessed little fangirl I’ve become several times throughout that short interview. I was never opposed to Taylor playing Jacob in New Moon, but I was worried at first he wouldn’t be able to pull it off — and he just put every worry I’d ever had about that to rest! He’s perfect! And the verbal spoiler alert was just the cutest thing I’ve seen since some of the more nervous-seeming interviews with Rob. He just might do the impossible turn me Team Jacob after all!
I agree with you shannon. Knowing how much he did when he was doing extreme martial arts, I am sure that he is being watched carefully. I read on another message board that some people think he is on steroids. I do not think that is true. He is a hard worker and he is eating more and turning it into muscle.
From the looks of it he is doing good. I think he is looking a little tired though but he is working hard. He just needs to get some rest. But then again how much rest did Jacob get when he changed. lol
I wasn’t sold on Taylor as Jacob in NM - would of been fine with a replacement but I have to say I’m impressed. He’s raising the bar for Rob. Let’s hope Rob is taking notes. Arm curls with a beer bottle and hot pockets aren’t going to cut it.

I’ve never been one way or the other on the replacement card. But, I must say, Taylor has indeed proven himself. His body definatly looks like the beefed up Jacob. Kudos Taylor. I may be team Edward for the books, but I’m definatly team Taylor outside the movies. Rob really needs to start paying attention, or he’s going to lose all his fans to this sexy young man. Then again, Rob may be glad to lose the attention, if all of the stories are truthful.

I don’t think they’re murdering the saga, the casting is just perfect. Taylor Lautner is a perfect Jacob. Sure Steven Strait and Michael Copon are tall, but they don’t have Jacob’s smile and that’s one thing that’s described a lot in the books about Jacob. Plus Taylor and Kristen alread did a chemistry screen test and it was perfect for Jacob and Bella.
Taylor Lautner has done such a great job, he’ll play a perfect Jacob. After all it’s not only about looks and such, if that were the case then let’s go find us a 4′10″ girl to play Alice, and we’ll probably have a ton of different actors to play Jacob since he’s going to end up at like 7 foot. It’s about playing the character, and he has it.
Well, he’s a cutie-pie for sure, and he’s gotten impressively embossed… but he’s still much shorter and smaller than Jacob. Apparently they have decided to do the best they can with Hollywood “magic” and let the rest go. I guess I am glad that he was chosen over some of the others considered… They might have, frankly, overshadowed Rob. We shouldn’t have to wonder why the heck Bella would choose Edward…

Not only for obvious reasons but now that he bulked up at least muscle-wise, how will he pull off the beginning of the book? Or is that what the re-write is about? They have to explain why Jake is suddenly so big compared to prom?
Why couldn’t they just let Taylor be Jake for the first half and go with Copon or someone else for the remainder? It was a no-brainer!
If they aren’t careful with the casting they will, for sure, murder the saga!

I am SOOO proud of you!! I knew– KNEW– that they needed a guy who was emotionally in the same place as Jake, not some buff look alike who is more physically mature. They needed a smitten 16 year old with all of the emotions that go with him. So glad Chris and Stephanie saw it, too. No one else could have ever been right. I was on pins and needles for the last month waiting for this confirmation; I checked Google every day for an update.
You look AMAZING: exactly as I had envisioned Jacob to look when I first read New Moon. Can’t wait to see the new movie!

Don’t know why everyone is saying Robert better get with it and bulk up. Jacob is supposed to morph into this huge wolf and be really big, thats the chracter. Edward even in the books does not have a 6 pack or huge bulky muscles, nor would I want him to, Robert would look weird like that. Edward was described as “lanky and muscular”. That’s what Rob looked like in the first movie although he himself said he lost too much weight. He looked really hot in Twilight and will in NM.I just wonder if Taylor is taking steroids, hope not but it is kind of suspiciuos, and for a teenager, its not good to stress your body with working out like this.
I am 100% Team Edward, and always will be, but after seeing Taylor’s new body, I must say I wouldnt mind spending a night or two with him. hes only what 15-16 yrs old, same age as my brother, which at first I thought was a little weird having “thought” about Taylor cause hes so young, but with the new body I dont feel as weird having “thoughts” about him. He looks way older now, i just hope that hes being careful putting that much weight on so fast. but hey more power to him! I used to think that Mike Phelps had the best body, but I stand corrected,Taylor has the best body (next to Rob of course) Cant wait to see Taylor take if off!! haha now we just gotta work on getting Rob shirtless asap!!! then I could truly die happy!
Eh-hmm, the triangle and competition is part of the story line. No need to get all Rob defensive. He is a gorgeous MAN. Which why I didn’t think Taylor would be convincing as a romantic lead opposite Rob. I’m just giving Taylor props. Taylor isn’t right for the role of Jacob no matter how many pounds he gains. He’s buff but even with 30 extra pounds he is still small and short…so NOT Jacob in the next three movies.
Also, I hope someone (family, manager, studio) tells Taylor to stop saying stupid things in interviews like “Edward is out”. I was fully prepared prior to the opening of Twilight to be both an Edward and Jacob fan throughout the series but Taylor’s arrogance has definitely made me Team Edward all the way.
I was so disappointed last year when he was rude to Rob during some of their joint public appearances. The rest of the cast is always very supportive of Taylor and each other but he never seems to return the compliments…especially anything related to Rob. I can understand he is young and probably wants to be as popular as Rob but his cockiness is over the top. Rob is hot and sexy because he’s down to earth and doesn’t take himself seriously…Taylor should take note.
AND if I have to hear his story one more time about the 40-year old woman who wanted him to sign her panties, I swear I’m going to hurl.

Oh wow…i just read over the comments and i have to agree with the masses. Taylor is beautiful! I am team switzerland but man, i would totally agree that taylor is the right person to play Jake. I even imagined Jake to look somewhat like Taylor before i even knew that he was playing him…love love love this guy. 15 on a scale of one to five…haha. and please dont diss on the moms…im 16 but come on they can have obsessions too you know. =D
