ACCESS HOLLYWOOD: RACHELLE LEFEVRE SPEAKS ABOUT RECAST

i cannot believe that summit would recast for only 10 days overlap, that seems a bit extreme to me. i’m sure that most of the twilight fans are supportive of rachelle as victoria and i am also sure that summit is going to receive many an angry letter, youtube response, etc.

i feel so badly for rachelle, it’s so apparent how much she loved being involved in the twilight world

I am saddened by this news. I watched Sunrise this morning and they just put it down to scheduling conflicts. I didn’t believe this because it’s been quite obvious from the start how passionate Rachelle has been about this role. Now to have read her interview with Access Hollywood, it makes more sense, that she didn’t leave willingly. All she had was one movie left. Poor thing. It won’t be the same.

This news comes as such a disappointment to me. I have been a loyal fan of the Twilight Empire and this type of thing just makes me so angry. No wonder you have actor/actresses who can’t stand the industry and stick with the small unknown films. At this point in the game I can almost see the point of view of our own Kristen Stewart and her reasoning in typically sticking with the unknown projects that are not backed by big name companies ~ for Rachelle to devote her heart and energy to a project like this with every loyalty possible and then turn around and be treated like this… it’s unbelievable and terribly sad. I really hope that Summit and David Slade pull their heads out in time to correct this egregious error in judgment!!!

This only goes to show that Summit is pursuing some personal agenda of its own by recasting the role of Victoria! Shame on Summit! Rachelle has been such a positive force among the fans and brought such dedication and enthusiasm both on and off the screen! I think Summit has made a huge mistake here. I guess they haven’t heard the old saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” Well, it’s definitely broken now, and while we fans will continue to support the Twilight project because of our love for the books, its characters, and the rest of the cast, I think this is a black mark against Summit. I would really like to know what Stephanie and the other cast members think about this move.

Wow, this is upsetting. I knew this was all Summit’s doing. Even just as a fan, I am outraged that they would recast Rachelle in the THIRD MOVIE into the saga, the movie where she really would have gotten her chance to shine. She was THE PERFECT Victoria, and she’s already invested so much in the saga.. as she said, she turned down tons of roles because of her commitment to Twilight. This is completely unacceptable, and I am enraged that Summit had the audacity to do this to not only us, the fans, but to do this to Rachelle! I feel so, so bad for her… she obviously, like all of us, had no idea this was coming. I may be wrong, but I have a very strong feeling David Slade is behind this… Summit’s excuse for recasting her is completely ridiculous and lame. Scheduling conflicts because she would miss ten days out of three months? That is CRAP. I’d like to hear what Stephenie has to say about this.

Obviously the scheduling conflict was a ruse. Was Rachelle given a chance to reschedule her other project? Did it actually conflict? Will we know the truth? I am guessing that is three “no answers” in a row.

This entire event smacks of heavy handed, ego driven film politics. I don’t know, but does anyone besides the director make this sort of decision?

Clearly there is nothing to be done. I think Bryce Dallas Howard is an exceptional actress. Certainly one of the most gifted in Hollywood. I don’t necessarily agree with all of her film choices, but I always am eager to see what she chooses for her next project. The Village is one of my favorite movies. She and Joaquin Phoenix had extraordinary chemistry in that film. I hope they make something together again. I hate that she is brought into Eclipse under this unfortunate cloud. She deserves better.

I hope Summit is finished with screwing around with these films. But, I’m not holding my breath.

Marina, I think you should go on every Youtube/twilight fansite/discussion/etc. about this recasting and give them all the email addresses. I’m sure the execs at Summit will be surprised to open their email accounts tomorrow morning with floods of letters of complaints.

It won’t change anything but at least we can stop this happening again – who will it be next otherwise? We need to let Summit know that we’re not happy about this – they of all people how important it is keep the fans happy. I think it’s gone too far now for Rachelle to be re-recast since they’ve already cast Bryce but we should let Summit and Rachelle know what we think about this. Rachelle should know how we are behind her on this!

In Twilight didn’t they film James’ scenes first b/c Cam had scheduling conflicts? This does not make sense. Keep it true to the books and keep the same cast. How hard is that?

Summit is just screwing everything up. I was disappointed from the begging that they got the rights to the movie and knew that they would find some way to mess it up. Summit is ruining this for all of us by rushing everything and now recasting and i sincerely wish that they would just start over and re do. I think new moon is going to be good but they screwed up twilight and now eclipse will be weird and ruined with a new actor. I know Bryce Dallas Howard can do it, its just she hasn’t been with us from the beginning. Just not the same.

Well, this makes me even MORE UPSET now that we know for sure it was Summit and not Rachelle. They certainly did not take the fans into consideration. Remember in Twilight,they shot the fight scene at the Ballet Studio FIRST because Cam had another project. There truly is something FISHY about the reason she was replaced. They also know almost all fans are “bound” to the Twilight Saga. I pray they do not get GET RID of anyone else already cast in the Twi Saga that we have been following. She embodied Victoria on the screen.

On one hand I want to boycott the remaining films. Victoria is a major part of this saga and it’s just unfair, but all of the other actors should be recognized for their hard works. We should remember to treat Dallas with love, because I’m sure right now she’s feeling pretty down since NO ONE wants her cast as Victoria.

I love Rachelle Lefevre and think it’s a shame and a big mistake on Summit’s part to recast her. If they’re trying to send a message to the other actors for some reason it could backfire. A bunch of young actors together could riot. Let’s hope not, but it could happen.

i don’t see any reason why we can’t take a ten day delay for something critical that summit is doing. i’d say a ten day delay before seeing new moon…that would get the message across, and you know how studios love those opening weekend statistics…but that would be too late. hrm, surely we can think of something.

What is Summit thinking???!! If it is not broke, don’t fix it. Rachelle was awsome and believable as victoria. For a 10 day scheduling conflict, they re-cast her?? In twilight, they filmed, all of Cam’s (James) scenes in the first 3 weeks, because he had other projects. so why can’t they do the same for her. Don’t get me wrong, I like Bryce Dallas Howards’ work very much, she is very talented, but give her another part, if she must be in this movie. Or, make a movie where she is the lead. She was exceptional in ‘The Village’. She could carry a movie on her own. Not only that, she looks to sweet to be Victoria. This is the first time I have been so upset, by a re-cast. Why not just replace any of the Cullens? I have a feeling that Eclipse is going to have a mutiany, as it should. where can I sign petition? Well, less than 24 hours later, this is no surprise. Most of us, if not all, suspected that this news stunk of a belch bellowed by a bloated belly of the new bastard son of Hollywood, Summit Entertainment.

There is no legitimate basis for recasting Rachelle Lefevre. It has to do with numbers but they are not on a calendar. This is needless, wrong and serves another purpose.

We love to support our Twilight by purchasing all the lovely Twilight merchandise. Well people, buying all this material is feeding the fat cat, it is not going to get us the film we want. I don’t have to see the movie 4 times, I don’t have to buy 2 DVDs to be sure I get all the special features, they are out there for free, I can design my own t-shirts, buttons, bags, jewelry etc. They think we are a mindless crowd following a pied piper, I don’t think we are, I’m not.

It’s really coincidental that at the same time Taylor, Rob, and Kristen were in Japan promoting Twilight, so was Bryce promoting her movie there too. I am very curious who were the ones to ACTUALLY come up with this brainstorm to replace Rachelle. Makes you wonder.

I tried to send my email a couple times, once as a group email, and the second time I tried to send it to each of them individually and it says they don’t exist. I’m frustrated.

I can’t believe that Summit would recast Rachelle. At first I was ok with it since they said that Rachelle had other commitments. But to recast, only because she wouldn’t be able to work 10 days out of the 3 months of filming, is freaking ridiculous. It’s not like they can’t film some parts of the movie while she is working on her other project. And to be honest, Victoria doesn’t really make an appearance till the end of the book. I seriously question Summit’s decision. It seems that all they care about is how much money they will make. I loved Rachelle as Victoria. That’s just someone you can’t replace. I do hope they reconsider and get her back on. It’s nothing against Bryce, but like all of you say Rachelle is Victoria! Bring her back Summit.

I agree with many when we say this is really shitty, sorry if I can’t say that. I mean TEN DAYS isn’t something to fire someone over. I’ve become increasingly dissapointed with Summit. They seem to get rid of people if things aren’t going their way. You never replace a cast in a series and it’s like they DON’T GET THAT. I’m sure that someone will correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t it up to the Director as to what sequences get filmed when? Perhaps the real problem is that the locate that David Slade has chosen is unavailable outside of the 10 days that Rachelle would be filming the other project.

Ofcourse this could all be someone’s idea of shifting the focus of the media’s attention away from the “Are they aren’t they in an off screen relationship” of Rob and Kristen.

The recasting of the character of Victoria in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is UNACCEPTABLE. Your blatant disregard for the Twilight fan base and for the actors who so brilliantly bring our beloved characters to life is an insult to all of us. Your underhanded tactics in regards to releasing this information are telling as to your soulless nature on this subject, choosing to wait until just a few short weeks before shooting begins and releasing the news byte in the late hours of the night.

You may see the Twilight Nation as a cash cow, but we are also intelligent, loyal, and resourceful people. Removing Rachelle Lefevre without cause and without class is something that we will not stand for as a fanbase.

Ok guys! I just sent an email to Erik Feig that demanded *ahem* REQUESTED that another statment be released as to why exactly rachelle couldn’t keep her part. i also put in a good word for Rachelle and asked them to give back her role

Look…I think this sucks just as much as the rest of you do. The people at Summit are a bunch of jerks. It is all about money folks. WOW…only ONE day has passed that I didn’t check on this site..and BAM!!!!Rachel got replaced!!!How in the freaking Twilight-Summit-Universe did that happen????I don’t have anything with Bryce..to be honest I think that I haven’t watched any movie of hers to judge her as an actress..so I’ll pass on that.

I just think that bringing a NEW actress for a role that has been there since the first book and movie, a character that is so important and engrossed in the story..that when we think about Victoria..Rachel would always pop out of our mind. And Summit doing this is WRONG!!!!!It’s like them saying that they can replace people in the cast whenever they want even if that actress/actor has been there already from the very beggining. This is very scary..

I’m really sad for Rachelle right now…she is very dedicated to her role as Victoria..and not seeing her in Eclipse..is just…BS!!!!To BRYCE…I honestly wish her luck..this is just the beggining of a very very long ride with the cast and the fans.

At this point, it wouldnt matter who was recast or replaced in any of the movies. The first Twilight movie set the precedence for the rest of the series. Replace or recast any of them and it just throws things out of sync. I would feel the same for anyone in the current cast. Doesnt matter if it the top 3 (Kristen, Rob or Taylor)or someone from the school. It should all remain the same just like Harry Potter. I’ve always appreciated seeing their cast grow up. None of them have been replaced except for when someone dies. They’re all very important at this point. These people are the voice and faces that have been given to the books. Okay, I liked Bryce in Spider-Man 3 but I absolutely hate it when they change the actors in movies. It ruins it. And Rachelle was amazing as Victoria. Plus she’s Canadian like me.

Summit – wake up and grow up! Rachelle had every single right to respond to their ridiculous claims. Summit wanted a BIG NAME person in, and so they hired that BIG NAMED persons DAUGHTER – Bryce. They didn’t give Rachelle a chance. They wanted her out and found a way. Summit – give us a break – ten days??? Really??? Don’t insult us as fans. I’m 45 years old and a huge fan of the books and movies and am simply insulted by your callous re-casting because of your own selfishness.

I have worked in the film industry for 15 years at major studios, and this is possibly the stupidest move since Jack Warner recast Julie Andrews for MY FAIR LADY. Here is an actress who embodies the part, who has worked her a$$ off, is well liked by everyone, and has done major publicity.

Would Warners recast Alan Rickman as Snape because he does Broadway? Summit is having a childish fit because Rachelle is doing another movie. What they don’t understand is the power of fandom: flood them with emails, call, and sign the petition. This has worked to bring back TV shows from the dead and it may very well work here. The only reason Taylor survived is because of the fans. WE CAN DO IT!!!!

i’m responding to “jess” i dont think that taylor, rob, or kristen had anything to do with this choice made by summit. i think its stupid you would even think that. rachelle and taylor are very close the entire cast is.

Well,Isn’t this a kick in the balls~ As I said yesterday,I really didn’t think Rachelle was the one to quit.And,for her to do this press release she is just as f-ed in the head about the whole thing as we are,although I would love to see her continue,I think a petition is just going to make her feel worse and more degraded,let her move on.Obviously Summit is using big names in the name of Capital gain. I hate it when they replace an origninal actor from a movie. Have you ever seen Speed 1 and then Speed 2? (my pt.– without the orginal Keanu Reaves the 2nd movie sucked. Victoria’s role would have been a big one in Eclipse. Wish Summit would reconsider, but the other actor has already probrably signed a contract. I would be hurt too if I was Rachelle.

My fellow Twilight fans! So, I”m sitting here having an epipany…. boycotting New Moon will NOT affect a change…I mean…they start shooting the film this month! What else can we do? Have we heard anything new? Have we affected a change yet? I have composed a letter as many of you have imploring them to rethink this dastard decision which makes no sense! Forcing an ultimatum never works…flexibility and open mindedness…tenants of the Cullens does. On that note, I have to go walk my dog…and think of more pro-active Twilight thoughts!

I’m stunned! What’s with Summit? What on earth did Rachelle do to deserve this? She’s always been accommodating with promo schedules as far as I can see…she’s very popular with all fans…also with the cast and crew…and she’s passed up opportunities to keep to the Twilight schedule.

I have been away travelling and upon returning I have waiting with bated breath for the release of Twilight – Eclipse only to discover Rachelle has been replaced. WHAT A TRAVESTY!!! I wonder how Bryce managed to obtain the role? I have to be honest…the film is a real disappoinment…Summit are obviously doing a dreadful job in more ways than one!!
