ANYA MARINA GETS ‘SATELLITE HEART’ INCLUDED WITH HER FAVORITE ‘NEW MOON’ SCENE

Posted September 29th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 6 Comments »

Just yesterday we were able to hear Anya Marina’s “Satellite Heart”, which is featured on the New Moon soundtrack (listen to it here), and today we get a little more background information on how Anya landed herself a spot on the soundtrack and just how things generally came out. Read Anya’s note below, directly from the awesome people at ChopShop Music:

A few months ago, I was asked by Chris Weitz (the director of the new Twilight movie (New Moon) to come in to his office to screen the latest Twilight movie, New Moon. I guess he’d heard my cover of T.I.’s “Whatever You Like” and really liked it. Naturally, I was thrilled. I heard all sorts of my favorite bands were being considered for the soundtrack (Thom Yorke, Death Cab, Grizzly Bear, etc). In fact, on the day of my own private screening, as I walked in, The Killers were making their way out.

oh.

em.

gee.

Suffice it to say, the movie was great and I got really inspired to adapt a new song I’d been working on to suit Bella and Edward and their whole drama. I got together with my friend, producer [and mixer on Slow & Steady...] Ken Andrews, and we recorded a pretty mean version of a new song called “Satellite Heart.”

When I heard that Chris decided not only to include Satellite Heart in my favorite scene in New Moon, but also in the soundtrack, I was–pardon the pun–over the moon. I can’t wait to see it in the movie or for you to hear some of the straight-up sick remixes that’ll be coming out soon, too. For now, stream the song (and check out the lyrics) on MySpace, and then pre-order the soundtrack through iTunes to be able to download ‘Satellite Heart’ instantly.

Enjoy. See you in November!

x

Anya

My first thought when I heard this song was the ‘blank pages’ in New Moon and just generally post-break up. The song is so beautiful, however, that I think it could really fit anywhere. I’m really interested to hear what you all think about this song and where you think it fits into the movie. So, what are your thoughts on “Satellite Heart”? Which scene in New Moon do you think the song is included in?

I completely agree. I think that it will be sometime soon after Edward leaves. What a great song. I’m so excited for the soundtrack. From what we’ve heard so far, it should be pretty good!

I think this song will play when Bella is testing out the motorcycle with Jacob and she crashes after she sees Edward in a vision. The words seem to fit “I’m spun out so far – you stop I start” It reflects Bella’s frame of mind as she becomes more reckless in order to hear/see Edward.

    I Love this song!
I think it’s going to play when Bella is at school sitting on her truck and she “sees” Edward walks towards her from his car but it’s just her imagination. The scene is from one of the trailers. I just think that, when she says these lyrics. Personally, I think the song is beautiful.

“They say I haven’t slept in weeks, you’re the only thing I see”

I think the song fits when she see’s Edward in her vision’s.

    btw:
Is Anya sitting in Bella’s Truck with her feet on the dashboard??
I HOPE not!!!!! Show a little respect Anya, Bella loves her Truck!!!!

I really enjoyed this song when I listened to it just now…I am super excited for the soundtrack!!!!

I believe this is going to play during a montage of how miserable Bella is after Edward leaves. Maybe it’ll play during “the blank pages” part of the movie when she is crying in bed, miserable and quiet around the house, and in school when she is feeling “the absence of him is everywhere”
