ASK ALICE: HALLOWEEN SPECIAL PART 3 – ‘NEW MOON’ PUMPKINS
For this week’s final Halloween Special segment, I’m bringing you a reason to finally visit your local pumpkin patch: Time to get carving with your favorite New Moon promo picture!
Want to put the finishing touch on your outdoor Halloween décor? Well nothing seals the deal like a carved pumpkin. They light up the night so beautifully and they smell great once the candle is put in. But what will really make heads turn is a New Moon carved pumpkin. Here are some tips and ideas for your pumpkin:
Tips:
1.) Buy a pumpkin carving kit and a monster scoop (Pumpkin Masters kits are the best. Visit the Pumpkin Carving List below.)
2.) Obtain a sharp knife and carve a circle around the top of the pumpkin (Around where the branch was cut off) and make sure it’s big enough to put your forearm through. Pull out the carved piece (Store aside) and clean the pumpkin completely out.
3.) Obtain your preferred stencil (Visit the recommended website below for some free New Moon stencils) and tape onto the pumpkin-the flattest surface possible.
4.) Using a poker from your kit, poke an outline of any shaded area on your stencil. (The kit should come with instructions or you could also visit The Pumkin Wizard site from below for detailed instructions)
5.) After tracing your shaded areas, un-tape the stencil and get a saw from your kit and cut out said traced areas.
6.) Place a candle or a pumpkin tea light inside the pumpkin, light up, and place the top circle carved out from earlier in it’s place again.
7.) Place outside and enjoy the view!
