ASK ALICE: – ‘TWILIGHT’ IN THE KITCHEN: RED VELVET RAPTURE
Ask Alice’s special “Twilight in the Kitchen†is back and with a fantastic recipe to try this holiday season!

A few months back “Ask Alice†brought you TAers some great ideas for cake decorating with a Twilight theme (Click here to view this article). In addition to the decorations of a cake comes the cake itself, right? What better way to show your fascination for vampires then with gorgeous red cake?
I’m known as the Red Velvet Queen in my family, so I’ve tried quite a few Red Velvet Cake recipes in my time. No cake has tasted better—as of yet—then the following two recipes I present you with: Red Velvet Cake and Red Velvet Bundt Cake.
Red Velvet Cake
(This recipe is actually from a Red Velvet Bread Pudding, I just used the “cake†part.)
-2 Cups of Sugar
-2 sticks of Butter
-2 Eggs
-2 TBSP Cocoa Powder
-2oz. Red Food Coloring
-2 ½ Cups of Cake Flour
-1 tsp of Salt
-1 Cup of Butter Milk
-1 tsp of Vanilla Extract
- ½ tsp of Baking Soda
-1 TBSP Vinegar
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Greased 9 by 13 by 2-inch sheet pan.
In a mixing bowl, cream the sugar and butter, beat until light and fluffy. Add the eggs 1 at a time and mix well after each addition. Mix cocoa and food coloring together and then add to sugar mixture; mix well. Sift together flour and salt. Add flour mixture to the creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk. Blend in vanilla. How great would it be to surprise your friends and loved ones with one of these great cakes? Its guarantee you’ll be the talk and praise at your gathering. Instead of the cakes, you could also turn either of these recipes into cupcakes. Look how neat these look:
