ASK ALICE: ZIP IT UP… OR DOWN!
For today’s feature, a re-visit to the popular zipper trend from Fall, and why you should keep those zippers down for Spring 2010.
Many of you may have noticed the ever growing trend of zippers during the Fall on practically all articles of clothing aside from your pants. So why am I writing about it now… in the end of the year… during the Winter season of all times? That’s because the second most fun season is coming and I’m gearing you all up for it: Spring.
Spring trends have long since evolved from the florals and ruffles. They’re still very much present, but designers a few years back got a little bored with all the girly patterns and they wanted to kick it up a bit and do something far from girly and frilly. So that’s when we started to see a lot of platinum hues on accessories and sharp, futuristic lines on outerwear. Designers wanted to give us clients options, both for those of us who wanted to still wear the hard, rock and roll inspired clothes from Fall, and for those who wanted a change.
This is where the infamous zipper trend comes in. As you may have seen, the zipper can be shaped into practically anything, including ruffles and flowers. Or it can be left in its natural state and give a rough look to classic pair of black pumps. Don’t limit yourself to just accessories, either. There are some great blouses and dresses out there that look great on practically everyone.
So you see? There’s still time to enjoy the new trends that emerged during the Fall. And the best part, they’re probably all on sale now! So hurry—Spring is coming!
