TA TALKS BACK: BANNING TWILIGHT? - A CHRISTIAN MOTHER’S PERSPECTIVE
TA member ifellhard read yesterday’s TA talks back about Banning Twilight and wanted to share her opinion:
As I was working on a reply to yesterday’s TA Talks Back “Banning Twilight” thread by Shaelana, I found that I had more to say than I first thought. I got a little fired up and I want to comment on schools banning the books as well as attempts by any others who wish to do the same.I can understand school administrators not wanting kids bringing the books to school as outside reading material, as they are quite a distraction. If I had these books with me “back in the day”, I know that Trig, French, Physics, or Biology would have been the last thing on my mind and I’d be working hard to sneak a peek at the Cullens during class instead of listening to the teacher.

I think that is so stupid. They should allow them i mean for silent reading.
PLEASE!!! Im a christian mother and I read the books to my daughter as bedtime stories. She loves it as much as I do. IT’S FICTION FOLKS!!! Get over it!
What ever there amazing books! Im sure that students can do much worse than READ!!!! What are peoples problems, they complain when we go on the computer, they complain when we play video games and now they are complaining that we are not aloud to READ!! WHAT EVER!
Thank you, “ifellhard” for your beautiful thoughts. I agree with others who have mentioned that your article should be published so that many more people can read it. You speak highly of the beautiful love story that is the Twilight Saga, and you speak truthfully about Christianity. God bless you as you help others understand that Christianity is not about rules and regulations, but about a relationship with a loving, caring God who is more concerned with our heart and our truthful actions, than the restrictions we put on His Truth.
Tippy, I also enjoyed your comments on how The Twilight Saga has changed your life. I especially enjoyed your conversation with God about how He answered your prayers. God has a great sense of humor and He comes to us in a way He knows we will understand. Thank you for sharing and I’m so glad you feel great about yourself now. Keep on Twilighting and keep on praying! Woo Hoo!
GEEZ. why ban books?! at my school, it’s basically impossible to get most of the kids to even pick up a book, let alone read it. i saw tons of twilight books this year being read like in the halls even, and i was pretty happy about that. lots of them were kids who just wanted to know what it was about, that hardly ever read. maybe they’ll start reading other books now! it’s stupid to ban a freaking BOOK!!! isnt the point of school to learn?! gah. stupid.
