TA TALKS BACK: BANNING TWILIGHT
TA fan Shaelana talks about what she thinks about some schools banning Twilight:
I recently read this article, and I thought I needed to speak out about this. I have heard complaints about sexism and now religion towards the Twilight saga. I am also a Harry Potter fan and have been hearing similar complaints for years about that series. They have even had huge public banning of the books. There are many school districts that have the books banned. If the twilight saga did not have such a HUGE success this would not be happening. I have read over 100 books this year that are about vampires, faeries, or wizards and since they are not big hits they’re not being banned, or pulled off book store shelves.

In a world of video games, cell phones and other technologies, people should be happy that these teenagers are reading. I, for one, am proud of all the “lil’ readers”. I persanlly love to read but alot people dont. I don’t think I have ever heard of some many people reading one book, in my life. kids, teens and adults Nation Wide are reading…how can that ever be a bad thing?
redia: I agree that people should be happy teens are reading actual books. So many people of all ages are attracked to this story, when traveling there is always some one other than my self with their nose in a twilght book. We always exchange a nod and a smile, like saying, I know what your thinking, I know your addicted too. I’m glad young girl’s have this love story to read.
That’s just CRAZY!!!!
My parents and I moved to Dubai when I was 10. It’s a Muslim country and I’ve seen them ban quite a lot of things, but Twilight and Harry Potter never were! On the other hand, they’re everywhere.
I under stand Harry Potter, considering all the witch craft in it. How ever, Twilight some people feel, has a christian message in and and I see no reason for schools or any other places to ban it.
Banning books is a ridiculous practice. When will schools figure out that banning books just makes people want to read them more? You know, forbidden fruit and all that….
thats ridiculous. twilight should not be banned because there is nothing wrong with it.
