Ta fan edelacruz wonders if we’re in love with Edward or Rob Pattinson:
We’ve all heard Rob say it in interviews time and time again: “The fans are in love with Edward, not me.” Rob is playing a fictional character – Edward Cullen, who is arguably this generation’s “Romeo”. And what’s not to love about Edward? He’s intelligent, gorgeous, mysterious, chivalrous, caring, and has that dangerous edge that would make any girl’s heart skip a beat. It’s a given: we all love Edward…for many wonderful reasons. But are the screaming and hysterically emotional masses transferring all that passionate wanting towards the mortal man that plays this “perfect guy”? In other words, do many Twilight Fans love Robert Pattinson only because they associate him with Edward Cullen?

I didn’t really care for Rob before I saw the movie, and then it was like, WHAM! I think it’s more because we associate him with Edward and expect him to be Edward that we are so in love with him…. Not complaining though, I still like that he gave Edward a face… A hot sexy face to oogle
I agree with him. I said it since day 1. The ladies love Edward, not Robert.
I think Rob just doesn’t realize why people like him And so he feels that they must like him for the roles he’s playing. I mean He’s good looking and funny and Smart… whats not to like. People even liked him when he had his role in Harry Potter and it was nothing big. But there are plenty of people who like Rob for Rob!
I don’t know how it sits for others, but I see them as actor and chracter. I personally have a high reguard for the actor. He seems honest, completely baffled by this phenomenon, and more than anything NOT full of himself like many other actors can be. He seems genuinely thankful for the support if not surprised. I have respect for Rob as and actor. He played his chracter Edward well.

It seems very plausible. As much as most people would hate to admit it, I’m pretty sure it rings true.
I have to say yes people do love the fictional character Edward but Rob is a very talented actor. People should appreciate him for this amazing character that he can transform himself into with this amazing story..
Rob is gorgeous & a fantastic actor, but at the end of the day it’s Edward who we are completely in love with. Seeing Rob bring him to life is truly an amazing thing.
I’m in love with Edward but Robert is also lovablee too so I choose both. When I first say Robert I thought he wasn’t going to be very good because no man could copy Edward’s swag exactly but when I saw him acting I was like OMG he’s perfect!!!
Hand on heart I love Robert, the actor not Edward Cullen, the fictional character.
I do love the Character Edward because he has the charm that men used to have back in the day, when they had manners and would open doors and be polite, unlike many men now days!
I do also love Rob because he is my type(tall, Dark, handsome and not full of himself.) My biggest turn off would be men that outwardly boast that they are the hottest thing on the block! Watching him in his interviews, he seems to be very humble… LOVE YOU ROB
Okay, prepare for me to preach on this subject. I love Rob for Rob, and I love the character Edward for Edward. Im an intelligent enough woman to differentiate between Rob and his character.
Edward- He’s essentially the perfect man. When I read about him, or watch Rob potray him on screen, Im swept up in Edwards mysterious tortured perfection. Rob plays his character so well that I can understand how younger girls can get him mixed up with Edward. Bottom line, Edward is a fake character that resonates in our female hearts. He’s glittery, romantically inclined, gorgeous, smoldering, and hormonally stimulating. Like I said, perfection!
Rob- To me, Rob is better then Edward. Im 31 and have been around the block when it comes to men and relationships. So I zero in on what attracts me personally, and that is Rob, not Edward. Rob isnt just a visual stimulator for me..ahem…he has so many personality traits that I personally can understand. Im shy, I love to write and read, I grew up in a family of musicians who traveled and played the bars and clubs. I have such a passion for music that it courses through my veins. I get that. Im not saying that I know him personally, but I can understand the part he shares with his fans. So for me to hear that all of you like him because he’s Edward is a sad state of affairs.
Rob is adorable, sweet, honest, beautiful to an painful degree, intelligent, funny and in my opinion, a down to earth human being. To me, thats what makes him so adorable…that he can admit he’s not perfect.
I would say that it depends. Rob probally put some of himself into the character. I heard some of his HOTT accent coming through in Twilight. It depends on how you see him. Some only see him as Edward and some see him as Robert and Edward

Robert Pattinson wasn’t in the book while I was reading it. Edward Cullen was. Rob was lucky enough to be able to … portray Edward for all of us to see kindof what Stephenie Meyer was envisioning what Edward really looked like to her in her dream.

I love Robert. I am actually Team Jacob so yeah. I really love Robert really because of his acting and most of all his music. I love the piano and i think he is very talented. I love his voice and he writes beautiful music. I think lots of people love him because he is Edward which happens to most celebrities anyway.
I first saw Robert as Cedric in Harry Potter and he just kind of stood out. I researched him and found his music. When I heard he was playing Edward, I was happy because I think he would really do a great job.

i’m in love with rob. yes, the fictional character he plays is unbelievably perfect, but that’s one of the reasons that i really can’t be in love with edward. he’s TOO perfect. rob has this whole persona of being shy, modest, and he looks adorable when he’s all scruffy and his hair is all mess.
I first saw Rob in Harry P. and thought hmmmm cute. Then in Twilight, I thought hmmmm HOT! This is a purely superficial lusting as I have never met him and don’t know him personally. We only see the glitz and glamour with just a peek at the real person behind the projection. I can only wish I knew him!!!
I love him in the movies, in fact, I adore the character of Edward which Rob brought to life for me so for me it’s clear, i choose both.
The character is superb and a tribute to Stephanie Meyers incredible writing skills and Rob’s acting skills. I cannot imagine any other actor living up to this role.
As for Rob…. hmmmmmm, a girl can dream!

Yeeaahhhh… I don’t ‘love’ him. I call it a Mom Crush, but it is allll Robert Pattinson. Edward is cute and so is Robert but Edward is a fictional character. Robert is, in the flesh: clever, attractive, obviously smart, and dang if I don’t have a weakness for an English accent.
Also, IMO, Robert Pattinson really doesn’t look all that much like Edward. :/

Yeah… what Kerri said… just replace my name with hers and I’d say the same thing. I think all of us fell in love with Edward first. Thank you SM for giving young girls a glimpse at what a ‘good man’ looks like. And thank you CH for choosing the perfect actor to bring Edward to life. But, to quote Bella, “…. he’s even more unbelievable _behind_ the face.” Yeah, 31-year-old mom of one swooning? Right here…. Rob is more than drop-dead-then-undead gorgeous with ruggedly good looks .. he’s a talented musician, excrutiatingly shy, almost _too_ modest, and goofy as all hell. What can I say? Edward and Rob are both tall, dark, and handsome … You GOTTA love ‘em both!
I’m going to be honest, I think Rob is way sexier than the character of Edward. Don’t hate me. I think it’s because Rob has so many flaws and he gets nervous and you can just tell he is. Edward is always collected and put together. I mean, once you read in depth of the saga you can tell hes conflicted but he doesn’t wear it on his sleeve. Rob does. Plus, I just think Rob is hilarious and I’m attracted to funny guys. It also may be because Rob is a real person. Haha.

what is not to like about the guy? he is a sweet, caring, gentleman, Edward or no Edward. Twilight was our chance to see that side of him we were so unaware of.

I think it is true. We love rob but it is most likely because he brings a dream man to life. Because of rob we now have a face to put with all the moments of the book that make us “crazy”. I do however have to give rob credit because he seems very ginuen and down to earth even with all this fame that has been rushed on him.
Yes, of course I love Rob. For one, his acting ability - He brought Edward to life and did a wonderful job. And Rob added his own touch to the movie, including his music. I love Rob’s music. He seems like a nice down to earth type of guy, and I think we all know he is not Edward. But Rob did wonderful portrayal of Edward, and for that we should be grateful. Now Edward, that is another story entirely. oh, Edward…..(sigh)
K i only like rob because he associated with edward. i’ve seen in lots og magazines and on the internet that he doesn’t where deodarant and had lots of b.o. never the less he is amazingly handsome.
I’m in love with the character, Rob is fine in the rol, but will never fill up the shoes of the character in real life, but he is quite talented and sexy in his own way, so why compare? they are two different “persons” just that Rob is playing to be Edward…sounds wierd but is true he is hot but it is not easy to compare fictional charcter with real life one, I certainly would keep Rob in real life but in fiction Edward is my true love.

I personally do NOT love edward. I mean he’s great and all, he’s just not my type. A bit too stalker-esque for my taste. However, Rob is just lovely!!! He’s so much more funnier and laid back than Edward is. More game for a laugh, if you will. Edwards just too serious for me. GREAT GUY AND ALL, don’t get me wrong, he’s romantic and all but…. eh just not in love with him. I pick Rob over Edward.

I think at first when your first getting to know the actors behind the character its like that. because you are taking your love from a fictional character to something living and breathing,
but once you get to know the actor you like him for him, and the role hes playing!! :]]

I was already so fascinated with Edward from reading the books. Before I saw the Twilight movie I couldn’t imagine that there was any actor in the world that could live up to the part of Edward and was so afraid I’d be disappointed. But the casting crew found Rob and low and behold he is dead on right for the part. I love Edward and daydream that he were a significant part my life, but I have the greatest respect for Rob and his ability to pull it off.
i am NOT in love with robert pattinson. nor am i in love with edward cullen. robert pattinson is an airhead. and i hate to say this, but he isn’t the grreatest actor either. edward is an amazing character. to be in love with someone, you would have to be willing to give anything to have them be safe, or to be with them. unfortunatley, edward massen cullen is a fictional character, so i am not willign to give anything and everything to be with him. i would have to meet the guy first!

The only reason to see the movies is because Rob is in them and he could be playing bella for all that it matters to me.
Rob is not only incredibly gorgeous, and all the other accolades already mentioned, he is a REAL man who isn’t afraid to show honest emotions. Love his music. I think it’s fantastic that he is still best friends with guys he went to school with and is helping them in their careers. Edward is ok as a fictional character, but Rob is the real HOT deal.

Well first I fell in luv with Edward and then Rob. I mean I was a Harry Potter fan and all but Rob had such a small role in it that I (sad to admit it) didn’t pay much attention to him. And wen I heard that he was going to play my beloved Edward I was just a little disappointed. But I suppose that was because I had only seen so little of his brilliant acting. After a while I started to welcome the fact that Rob was playing Edward and was really excited about the movie coming out. When the movie finally did come out (in Australia-we had to wait longer. It sucked) in December and I finally went to see it I was completely blown away! From then I luved Rob for Rob and knew thaat he played a really good Edward. Thankyou CH for choosing Rob over the other actors and also thankyou SM for creating a god. lol.

First of all we fell in love with “Edward Cullen” when we read the books, yes, no doubt, but then the character that we fell in love with stepped out of the book and onto the screen and “wow” we were hooked. Rob is totally gorgeous obviously, but he did such a wonderful, amazing, fantastic job bringing Edward to life, that “of course” we could be forgiven to love him just as Edward, but I know better than that. We love Rob for Rob and the person he is..that’s for sure. Since Twilight I have been finding out everything I can about Rob like, apart from Harry Potter, what other movies had he been in etc .. For example I did not know he is brilliant musician and fantastic piano player, now I know , I have also seen Trailers for Little Ashes, The Summer House, How to be, The Haunted Airman, I am blown away by what a great actor Rob is , by god, he really gets into the characters he is playing, I cannot wait to see them all and everything else he will be doing in the future , I honestly don’t think he will just be loved and only accosiated with” Edward Cullen” . I really don’t. Leonardo Di Caprio is not only loved and remembered for Jack Dawson on Titanic, remember that hype around Leo back then all the girls, women (including me) fell in love, and Leo has done great Movie’s since then. Now back to Rob, when you see him in all the interviews (and please watch them again) Rob is very humble about being ( now )so famous that he gets screamed at everywhere he goes, he is actually, very shy,( watch the body language) he also has a great sense of humour, he is down to earth. Rob is new to Hollywood and that alone would be scary, to be scrutinised with everything he does or says. I know he said” The Fans love Edward not him, but I say, no Rob, “We love you…”

as much as i love edward cullen, i ABSOLUTELY LOVE robert pattinson
the fact that he’s incredibly sexy is undeniable but that’s not the only reason i’m head over feet for him. he’s such a good actor (i can’t wait for little ashes to come out!!) and an unbelieveably amazing musician. he plays, in my opinion, the sexiest instrument a man can play: the piano. i love the tortured artist playing the guitar in the smokey pub scene (and believe me, his being british doesn’t hurt). i love his sense of style, jeans and a tshirt is so masculine and classic to me (the boy looks damn good in an all black tux too). I love how modest and shy he appears to be and how he seems to love his career.
the point is, although i love edward cullen as much as the next twilight fan, i’d give him up in a second for rob
I agree with twilight mom.In reading the books I truly fell in love with Edwards character, he is perfect.Rob really brought Edward to life for us and we can’t help but love him for that.However I do also love Rob as an actor and the kind of person he is.Although I can’t understand why he would want to date Kristen Stewart.I totally dont like her, she acts like a druggie and She totally sucks as Bella.
