TA TALKS BACK: DID YOUR VERSION OF THE TWILIGHT DVD LIVE UP TO THE HYPE?
March 24th, 2009
TA fan Brooke wonders what are your fave features from the DVD?:
Now that the dvd has been out for a couple days, I wonder which editions sold the most. Of course, by now we all know that 3 million copies of the dvd were sold in the first 24 hours. Of those, I wonder how many are multiple copies bought by single individuals. I myself only bought one copy of the dvd, a 3-disc special edition from Target, but at least two of the women (not girls, but women my age) that were in line with me Saturday morning said that they’d already ordered at least 2 other copies online because of the special features.

I am in Ireland so I wont get my copy till April 4th. Won’t be leaving the house that weekend
I’m from malaysia and only the dvd movie without the deleted scenes and all is sold here..
really sucks eh?
I live here (U.S.A.) and I got 2 copies of the Twilight DVD. One from Borders and another one from Target.
It is awesome!
I also got the Borders and Target copies. Totally worth it on both accounts. I’m glad I didn’t pick just one.
Well, of course I like to see the special features as much as the next fan. I bought the 2 disc one from Wal-Mart and I was satisfied with just that. I mean, really for me, I will watch the special features ONCE and then forget about them. I think it’s crazy to order multiple copies because when it comes down to it, its the SAME MOVIE! That’s all that matters in the end to me. I’ll watch the movie over and over again but not the special features. Those are ok to watch once, get your fill of unknown info and then onto the movie! But, whatever floats your boat, right? I like my copy just fine!
I only got the Target version…. I think it’s actually the best edition out there….. My niece has the Borders version so maybe I’ll get her to bring it by on Saturday cause I’m thinking of having a screening party and we can see what’s so special about her version….. But Target is sooo much better! I have all the iTunes stuff on my Macbook and the movie is on my iPod Touch…. so excited to get to use it tomorrow…..
The Philippine version does not have subtitles and the audio commentary is not complete (just one out of, is that seven supposedly?). Quality is inferior. So there, I must say it did not live to its hype. It was expensive so we felt cheated.
Question? I am in Australia. I have already bought the Special Edition (2 disc/ region 1) DVD. What is on the 3rd disc sold by target? And does anyone know if there will be a 3 disc version available in Australia?
I agree with you Mandy. I too, got the 2-disc edition from Walmart & though it urks the hell out of me to find out AFTER I got it, that Target has a 3-disc edition, I refuse to buy more than one copy just for the extras, that’s just silly. In the end, it’s the movie itself that I’m thrilled to have. I’ll just go to YouTube and watch the extras there. No offense to those that have bought several copies, to each their own, but I won’t do it.
I admit that I wasn’t planning on it, but got the Borders one and decided to also order the Target one. I keep hearing so much about the additional stuff on Target’s, but I absolutely love the packaging and pictures from the Borders. It’s an addiction, but what else can I do! Plus the target itunes copy is sort of a nice addition…
Well I got the regular 2 disk special edition one that midnight and I woke up super early to get the jewlery box edition from costco. I LOVE IT! The cards are great and so is the jewlery. It was so worth the money! I also bought the movie on itunes for my ipod!
I bought multiple copies, all deluxe editions, due to the different special features of each. Two from HotTopic (one for me and one for my niece for the film cell…the dvd will go to another friend). One from B&N (my niece wants the cellphone skin…and the dvd will go to the local Red Cross Donor Center for apheresis donors to watch). One from Borders for the postcards that were included. And one from Target for the 3rd dvd.
I actually enjoy all of the extras, and will watch them every-so-often. Especially when you dont have the time to enjoy the entire movie…watch some of the deleted scenes and such! Fun!
I got the blu-ray at Target. It looks pretty good — a little grainy here and there, but the things that need to be clear and defined are (like the sparkly skin and the topaz eyes). Although, at some points it’s almost TOO clear that you can see the outer rim of Kristen’s contacts. Of course, it doesn’t help that she disclosed that during the commentary
Nonetheless, I recommend the blu-ray version.
i got the blu ray version everything is there!!! all in one disc! and i love it!
I bought the Target special three disc edition bc my Borders one was not supposed to come until April 14th. I actually love it. Honestly I was able to download everythingfrom itunes as well including the movie. Now twilight is with me wherever I go. but I love all the special features. As for Borders, it is nice but has the same features as the Target. The one difference is the Borders one has a sweet cover and photo cards with it.
I pre-ordered a Boarders copy, still have not received it yet, for the extras and because it looked more like a collectible. I cannot wait to get it. But on Saturday morning I ran to my local Target with about 50 other women of different ages (I am 24) and purchased the 3 disc special edition with the iTunes download (well worth the price only $17.99 and you get not only and extra disc but also the iTunes download with all the extras, so great). The Target copy is great and the best priced for all the extras I have seen. I watched the movie and all the special features this past weekend and have since re-watched the movie twice on DVD and once on my iPod. I only wish I had a Blue Ray DVD Player those copies look great also. : ) I feel the DVD was well worth the wait, I seem to love the movie more each time I watch it I keep finding things I missed or overlooked the first few times of watching it.
I actually have bought 2 copies and I have one more on the way. I bought the Target edition for myself and a regular 2-disc from FYE (they were giving away a really cool bag) and I gave that to my neice. I also have the Blu-Ray Set coming from Amazon in May. Do the different versions have different deleted scenes? I thought the director said that they filmed a scene straight out of Midnight Sun and it would be in the deleted scenes but I don’t recall anything that would have been only in Midnight Sun, anyone else?
hi, i live in the UK and the DVD’s wont be released here until April the 6th, I was planning on getting the 3 disk version as it apparently has more on it, if nessecary i will buy both the 2 disk and the 3 disk but i was just wondering if someone could tell me what different features do both have and what is the same on both? I know the movie is obviously the same but i mean extras
Thanks
In england it hasn’t come out yet :’( and i have i have been waiting for what seems like ages. it isn’t spose to come out until the 6th or something but i want to get it as a birthday present so i am hoping as it is pre-ordered off of the internet it will come early. =)
Amy, I remember hearing about a scene strait out of Midnight Sun also. I am not sure where that was unless it was not in the deleted scenes part but in the Vampire Kiss Montage where the last scene is Edward jumping up (in Biology) and biting Bella, the part where he is imaging attacking Bella in the first Biology class in Midnight Sun. But other than that I cannot remember any deleted scene that would have been from Midnight Sun. Does anyone else know?
i think the part in biology where he bites bella is the scene from midnight sun .. nothing else really seems to stand out as an MS moment quite like that one. i bought the borders dvd but man i wish i got the target one.. i had fun at the borders midnight release party but i had to watch the “becoming bella” and “becoming edward” on youtube and i just melted .. plus i would like to be able to put it on my ipod .. so i guess i’ll be heading to target to get that one, too. it’s silly because the one at target is $10 cheaper than my borders one???
I got 3! the borders, the hot topic with the film cell ( i got edward in the restaurant! an actually piece of film so far it is my favorite) and I got the twilight ultimate DVD collectors edition from costco with the watch, charm bracelet, pictures, jewelery box, and cd! I love that one too. it is a limited edition only 50,000 made.
I got 4 copies ,the borders special edition, the taget blu-ray, barnes and noble’s (it comes with a cellp phone skin!!!),and I ordered the amazon ulimate collrctors blu-ray that has the watch, bracelet cd and more.
ps my borders copie came in the mail 2 days before the release date!!!!!!!!
I got a film cell too. It is of edward and Bella in Port Angeles right outside the restaurant.
I loved it the movie! :]]
me and my mom noticed some thing though-
1. just like when you can listen to rob and kristen and catherine talk during the movie, rob asks why james didnt just go in and kill her since he had the chance, because edward left her room when she was packing. [during when shes packing/ living forks.] catherine said he went to the truck, waiting for her so james wouldnt be able to get to her. but later on he runs beside the truck and gets in and drives.
so hmmm he could have gotten her. but if they followed how it was in the book, the cullens were patroling the place, and james wanted a challenge.
2. when bella was bleeding, jasper went right beside her xD [when going to kill james with emmett] he would have freaked out in the book like he did in New Moon.
3. Victoria was right near edward in the prom room, he would have heard her.
But hey, the movie cant be perfect i know :p. those are just some things that stood out to us.
I live in Australia and the Twilight DVD isn’t set to be released until the 22nd of April.
It sucks.
I think that DVD and
I live in the U.S and I’ve ordered a lot of them, i preordered from F.y.e, Target, Hot topic, Borders, And I just ordered it again from Barnes & Nobles. but the ones i have right now r amazing. But i got a question: Where/what is the midnight sun scene?
I got the Borders Exclusive edition, but now I’m regretting it because there were some other ones that sounded so much better…oh well, too late now. :-]
would be great to have an article comparing what is in each version, and all that are available, and prices.
I pre-ordered copies from Amazon (2 discs), Borders (2 discs), and Target (3 discs). Though the Borders packaging was the awesome, the bonus DVD in Target’s was the best - it had one scene that scared me to death and had never heard about this scene.
I have the 3 disc deluxe edition from target! I like alot of the stuff on the third disc. I hadn’t seen most of it. On the other hand most of the stuff on the 2nd disc I had already seen on youtube! I kinda wanted more behind the scene stuff….like maybe some bloppers and the accident scene too….
