TA TALKS BACK: A FAN’S RESPONSE TO KSTEW’S DECISION TO SKIP THE OSCARS

The Access Hollywood article on Kristen Stewart yesterday brings up not only the issue of “Should Kristen and/or her father have said that†but also, a broader issue.Why do Twilight fans feel the need to apologize for Twilight the Movie?
While everyone is entitled to opinion and taste – and admittedly, there are some people who did not like the adaptation – I have noticed that as a fan base, we have become accustomed to apologizing for the film. We sometimes say, “I know that the movie was not really good, but….†After reading John Stewart’s comments, I can see that this sentiment has been taken to another level. Have we gotten to the point where the father of one of the film’s stars (and perhaps the star herself), feels that it’s acceptable to trash the film at the Oscars? I think it’s time for Twilight fans to hold their heads up proudly and defend the adaptation that brought Bella and Edward’s story to life on the screen.
