Rome’s Romanians Counter Campaign for New Moon Movie Location
by Sarah Braasch

The remnants of the deposed Romanian vampire coven, Vladimir and Stefan, now of Rome, Italy, released an ad campaign directed at Summit Entertainment to promote Rome as an upcoming New Moon movie location, as a stand in for Volterra, Italy. The campaign, and accompanying PR blitz, is a direct response to last week’s campaign release by the ruling Volturi vampire coven on behalf of Volterra, Italy. New Moon will be the latest film installment of the hugely successful Twilight franchise, based on Stephenie Meyer’s series of young adult vampire novels.

Both locales offer enticing attributes to Summit. Volterra boasts a picturesque medieval setting in the Tuscan hills, as well as the actual sites described by Stephenie Meyer in New Moon, including the Piazza dei Priori, the Palazzo dei Priori, complete with belltower, and the famed alley, in which a pivotal scene occurs. Rome is the Eternal City, with ample beauties of its own, and home to sophisticated production facilities, experienced crew, and a booming hospitality industry.

Rome is absolutely stunning and vibrant, one of the great cities of the world. Bell towers, palazzos, glorious fountains, and vast piazzas abound. When searching for a medieval look and feel, Rome does not immediately spring to mind, save the Trastevere neighborhood, with its mazelike network of narrow, cobblestone alleys and medieval belltowers, if not palazzos.

I think they look amazing! Actually thats how I pictred the clock tower and alley while reading. Cool!

  • http://fhdfgdfgd Amanda

That’s so freaky. I imagined the clock tower and the alley exactly like that. :o

    Whoaz.

  • veronica pomar

i agree with Kerri and Amanda i imagined the tower and alley just like that seriously i can just see bella and edward standing there now lol i hope they use those spots

I hope they film in Volterra. Yeah, I imagined the same look too. I think filming in the actual Volterra would be way cooler than in Rome.

  • lofi

Nah… I don’t know, the feel is off for the period Volterra should have been built. Can’t get more Volterra than Volterra, I suppose.

…with the bars on the windows… Does Rome have any festivals happening in March or April? Volterra has quite a few and that will fit the scene just like in the book. If they were to film in Rome, will they be in or near the Vatican? The Pope did not give the “ok” to let Ron Howard film “Angels & Demons” in and around the Vatican. I think there might be some obstacles before Summit has a “green light” so to speak to film anywhere in Italy.

Good Luck Summit and Chris, I hope you will pick Volterra over Rome.

omg this is EXACTLY how i imagined it in my head, LOVES IT!

  • Inga

I think they should film in Volterra. It’s authentic!

I think it looks great but i think they should take pictures of Volterra and then compare them and see which are more realistic with Stephanie Meyer. She might have like a vision sort of thing and her opinion is pretty important right?
But I think that Rome would be an awesome place, but think bout first ya know?

  • Cassie

Exactly, Exactly the way i imagined it when i was reading it !
    OMG!
    The best possible place!
    Great choice!
