TA fan Rose went to a really lame Twilight DVD release party and she tells us about it:

My Twilight Dvd release â€œpartyâ€ experience at Walmart in PA by Rose

For over a month, Iâ€™ve been hearing about the Walmart Twilight DVD release parties – about how awesome they were going to be. So, instead of going to Borders or Hottopic at the last minute I decided to go to Walmart.

I was kind of excited. I figured it wouldnâ€™t be all that bad hanging with Twilight fans and playing trivia games and what not. We get there at 10:30pm. There were about 15 girls in line in front of us. We were all lined up next to the Twilight merchandise near the electronics. Nothing was going on, at all….

So by now we have all heard that twilight is making history for Wal-Mart. I mean they even started to sell shirt and other merchandise there. Which is great for us super fans that didnâ€™t have any of the merchandise because Hot Topic can tend to be a little expensive. But I guess Wal-Mart doesnâ€™t care to have anymore twilight stuff at their store. I decided to call them and ask when they where restocking. And the worker I was talking to had some very unsettling news, Wal-Mart will not be restocking, all of there Twilight merchandise was a one time promotional thing…..

well I certainly hope that it isn’t true that will not be re-stocking the items there. I mean the prices were so reasonable, I was able to get stuff for me as well as gifts for others out of the USA that don’t have access to stores like Hot topic or Walmart or even Borders,so I was so excited, I mean the Tee’s were 10.00 and everything else was 5.00 like keychains and pins and necklaces and bracelets,only the backpacks were 15.00 but still, Woow…Why wouldn’t they want to make more money? maybe they were losing money,that is the only reason Walmart won’t sell something!!!So sad,too bad!

I went to wal-mart too and it wasn’t much of a party.
They said they were gonna have games,giveaways and a message from the cast,Nope! They did have cake ,which I believe had Edward on it.

The Walmart party I attended was awesome. They asked trivia questions, gave away a big screen TV to the dress up contest winner, had TONS of free food (even had a cake with a picture of Twilight on it), free T-shirts to a select few, free stickers, etc. Not to mention they had Rachelle Lefevre come =) Overall I think all 2500-3000 fans had a wonderful time.

The Hot Topic party was pretty lame. I jetted over there after meeting Rachelle. You basically stood in line, entered a raffle, and bought the DVD.

All in all, I’d much rather go back to Walmart.

what really? you think they’d be all it since I am tiwlight fantaic. I have the seen move tqwice in threats and twice on dvd thus ar and the special fetuarrea nare ar looking to wath them again. anwyays, the twilight series in moveis and books are extrmelyp opular right and wil be for th new few years and praolby beyodn that. they’ll rpaboly sell it agian once newm oon comes out. but what the hiell si with wlamart anays, aren’t trying to sell mroe thigns so moure people coem to their store and amke mor money. idiots

Thats so dumb, they made it sound like the DVD release was also going to be like the release for their Twilight section forever, or for a little while at least, not just a promotional thing. >:|

I finally got a look at WalMart’s merchandise yesterday. WIth the exception of the pins and keychains, I was really disappointed. I thought the bags and t-shirts were awful looking. I was disappointed.

As far as parties are concerned, I’m not surprised. It seems like unless a staff member takes a vested interest in making their events cool and fun then good luck! I don’t know what the hype was about WalMart or any of the other DVD versions. In my opinion, the Target DVD 3-disc is far superior to other offerings in content and comparable in price at $17.99.

I think the best way to go is to get friends together and host private parties. One can make those so much more fun!

I went to a walmart to and was VERY disapointed. We got there at 9 and nothing happened, all the workers there acted like they were being put out, and they got “stuck” with dealing with all this. I know now for next time NOT TO GO TO Wal-mart, you guys sucked

Well I went to Walmart too, and beside the trivia game which was fun but not what I thought it would be, it was horrible. I arrived at 8:45 and there was already a line, So after waiting in line for a couple hours they started trivia and everyone was so loud you couldnt hear the ques, I just wasnt impressed and glad I went to get the movie 2 disk but should have gone to Target to get the 3 disk.

i have a friend who works in wal-mart and her manager told her he didnt think twilight was going to be a big sucess 9that was before the movie was made) so they really screwed themselves

Okay, i went to blockbuster for the twilight release party and i was SO MAD! we got there around 10:30 expecting to have games and prizes, and merchandise, and all there was were a few posters on sale and a few people in line in front of us. I was very disappointed, because we were going to go to Borders down in St. Paul. But it was too far away. It’s just like I got my movie and a little poster they gave me, then went home.. definitely not what I was expecting.. I watch twilight like everyday though!

The same thing happened to me. I have my two tween girls and we went to Borders and there was a sign on the door that there where not having the party. So we went to Blockbuster. Nothing. They were giving away one poster at midnight. I asked if they were going to ask trivia question and they employee said ” The movie is not out how , how could we ask questions about it?” So we left and went to Wal-mart. They had absolutely nothing going on. I sent angry emails to all the storesbut none have responded. They were all listed on the twilight movie site as being party places. My girls were so mad!!!! They have been counting down the days for 2 months for these parties. We even made Jasper & Alice t-shirts. We finally went to Hastings and they had a huge party going on. I definatley will never go to a walmart “party” again.

The borders party was amazing. They didnt have as much stock as hot topic, but they still had a good amount. We played trivia, gave away exclusive cards, got drinks and food, talked to friends, met new people, watched a clip from the stars on the New Moon set, thanking us for coming to borders, and did the Twilight Movie Awards. i had a lot of fun, and i got my DVD and sped home and watched it….OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN! I suggest Borders for every other release party.

and i went to the walmart release party here in Brigham utah, it wasn’t all that great. but i have been told that the borders parties were awesome!

The Wal-Mart release I went to was so stupid…they didn’t do anything but give away 3 cardboard standup posters and had cake. That’s because I’m in recovery and I left the house against Dr’s orders to brave the crowds. All I can say is it was a HUGE disappointment!

We started asking about the Twilight Party details about 3 days before the event. Our Walmart didn’t have a clue what we were talking about. They didn’t know that Twilight was coming out. So there was no party that I know of. It’s a 24 hour Walmart so they did start selling at 12:01am. They played the movie. The merchandise they have was very limited and they had it set up in the woman’s purse section. They dont seem to be restocking it either. I would love to have Walmart continue to carry items. They are close and the prices are very reasonable. Most items are 5 bucks and tshirts are 10. We didn’t go when I found out there was no release party I just preordered the movie from walmart and got the double disk set for the single dvd price and it was in my mailbox at 9 am on the 21st. We had our own Twilight party at home with dip and vampire movies and pepsi love potion drinks.

I attended the Twilight party at Borders in Torrance and it was awesome! They gave away prizes, showed clips, had tons of merchandise plus Tyler from the movie showed up and was signing autographs! I thought it was great.

I’d been counting down that release date for MONTHS!
The day of I call wal-mart and nothing was going on!
I talked to several people who laughed at me when I asked and said they weren’t doing anything special.
It was too late to go to hot topic and there’s no borders anywhere around me.
I was heartbroken.

I know what you mean I went to the walmart release party and I thought that it would be really good to. My walmart at least had cake and it had the twilight poster on it and all I did was stand in line waiting for the movie to be released so I could get it. Oh and I gues they only had a limited supply of 2 disc edition of the movie because they sold out a little bit after I got mine. But I really didn’t think that it was taht big of a thing at all. I did get my movie before anyone else did except for the people that went to the party as well but still they could of had twilight games for us to play or trivia and maybe even door prizes that were twilght related but nope nothing.

Man the one i wnet to was LAME… there was nothing there… all they did was have a cake with a pic of the bella n edward movie poster (which i still have frozen in my frezzer) they had no igve aways. all they did was have 100 cops and NO reason to have them there… it was stupid. i am very disappointed.
