TA TALKS BACK: WORRIES FOR NEW MOON – THE MOVIE

Posted June 8th, 2009 By: flick 7 Comments »

For this edition of TA Talks Back, two TA fans write about their worries for New Moon the Movie:

Why do we love Edward Cullen? – by Shannon.

By 4twilight4ever:

I’m obsessed, I’ll admit it. I will be eternally grateful for Stepehenie Meyer bringing such wonderful books to the world. I have read them so many times, I have lost count. When I heard Twilight was coming to the big screen, I was ecstatic.

By Rose:

Alright so lately I’ve been hearing fans talking about how the director of New Moon “better stick to the book!”

Do you all remember what happened in New Moon? Because I do. Edward leaves Bella. He leaves her.

Though he is mentioned in the book he isn’t really there.

It doesn’t matter that Edward leaves Bella in the book. I am totally head over heels for Edward – as well as Rob Pattinson – however, I would MUCH rather see the movie play out just the way that Stephenie Meyer told the story. It wouldn’t be “New Moon” if Edward didn’t leave. It wouldn’t be the Twilight series if “New Moon” was different.

The period during which Edward is gone, that is Edward and Bella’s trial… the real test if they belonged together or not, and when they finally ARE together again, their relationship is much stronger!

If you don’t see Rob, SO WHAT – you will get your fill of him in Eclipse and Breaking Dawn…

PLUS, the director is writing Edward in as a physical hallucination, not just a voice, so we’ll see him more than we are supposed to anyway.

Get over it and just enjoy the movie for what it will be, complaining isn’t going to change it, anyway.

my biggest concern is about the scene where Edward leaves. In the trailer he says “this will be the last time you ever see me” (I beileve those are the correct words) but I’ve been hearing talk and I too worry that they might not inlcude “it will be as if I never existed”. They absolutely CANNOT leave that out, it runs throughout the whole book (almost). But other than that, I think it will be okay. As long as they keep the major parts intact.

If the movie is too different from the book then I am going to be really disappointed. Edward is supposed to leave. He comes back. lol

I agree with people who wants Weitz to stick to the book because deviating from it ruins what we fans fell in love with in the first place. A lot of people were disappointed with Twilight because it was not what Stephanie wrote. They left out significant points from the book, like the first time Bella and Edward say “I love you” to each other. They added new scenes, though it worked. Also, some scenes in the movie that were important key moments in the book, they went through quickly, like when Jasper, Alice and Bella were in the hotel and Jasper tells Bella that she was worth it. They changed the whole meadow scene.

I don’t really have to go through the whole movie because I know all of you watched it. Sticking to the book gives it the power to give us chills everytime we see the movie. The moment Edward leaves Bella should be so powerful that we are driven to tears (like I was driven to tears when I read the book), and the moment they hug each other underneath that clock tower should be powerful as well. Do you see where I’m going with this? I think that’s why they should really stick to the book this time.

i cannot believe they are taking out the marriage deal to keep it tween. that will throw off the whole series. its insane!!! if they do that then they dont get married and then they dont go on a honeymoon and renesmee is never born which means no breaking dawn. if they do that i dont think that i even want to see it anymore
