BOXWISH.COM: Get the gear from Twilight. Fit in with the Forks High School crowd with these techie toys and gorgeous household items:

And there are quite a variety of techie toys and household items paraded in Twilight, many providing interesting insights into the characters that use them. So if you’ve read all the books, ditched all your old clothes in preference for some like Bella’s and are a veritable encyclopedia of information about Portland, complete your Twilight makeover by tooling up just like the Forks High School crowd.

For keeping in touch with her mother Renee who lives in Phoenix, Arizona Bella uses a white Nokia 7360 mobile phone. This model is part of Nokia’s “L’Amour Collection” (a brilliant echo of the movie’s romantic theme) and with its feminine design of etched metal and transparent surfaces it manages to look young and fashionable. Key features include the integrated VGA camera, FM stereo radio and triband coverage on up to five continents.

While Bella owns the customary must-have gadgets of modern life, Edward’s world of sleek luxury is a complete contrast. There’s nothing ordinary or commonplace about some of the stylish household items cluttering the youngest Cullen’s bedroom.

Being a vampire he doesn’t need to sleep, so trades a normal bed for a swanky Barcelona day bed made from real leather – great for lounging on at all hours. He also decorates his corner of the breathtaking Cullen house with an unusual side table that complements the white and minimilistic décor. Designed by famed American architect and designer Warren Platner, this side table is part of a collection originating from the 60s that transforms steel wire into scupltural furniture. Metallic rods are welded to circular frames and then polished and lacquered for protection. Like the day bed, the side table is far from cheap, yet that’s the glory of being an immortal – deep pockets.

There are some items in Edward’s room on a less grand scale, one being his stacks of music CDs. Currently playing on his sound system is “Clair de Lune” by French impressionist composer Claude Debussy which earns the thumbs up from Bella. ””Clair de Lune” is great,” she enthuses. This, the third movement of Debussy’s piano “Suite bergamasque” is heard during a car journey between the pair in the book, rather than in Edward’s room as per the movie and when translated from its Gallic roots neatly ties in with the film’s themes meaning “moonlight”.

We’ve spotted a lookalike of James’s, the Panasonic NV-GS320EB-S Mini DV digital camcorder which boosts a 3.1 megapixel Tri CCD sensor and other helpful features such as a Mega Optical Image Stabiliser (OIS) helping minimise blur and distortion for the best footage. Distance isn’t a problem with the impressive 10x optical zoom and 700x digital zoom, neither is low light with a sensitivity of 1 lux. It’s easy to use, comfortable to hold and has been the subject of praise by many online critics and users making it ideal for entry-level users and more seasoned pros.

James isn’t the only fan of Panasonic in Forks as high school student Angela (Christian Serratos) introduces herself to Bella by taking her picture on her camera – a Panasonic Lumix FZ50. This digital camera is the successor to Lumix’s celebrated FZ30 and continues the good work by maintaining past popular features and introducing some new ones including the longer battery life, the reduced use of power and an AF assist lamp for low light photo opportunities.

Like James’s video camera and the whole Panasonic range it benefits from the mega Optical Image Stabilisation system and supplements this with a 12x ultra-zoom lens, 10 megapixel sensor and Venus III processing engine. The LEICA DC Vario-Elmarit lens provides a wide focal range and the entire package promises fantastic quality to help you get as snap happy as Twilight’s Angela.

It’s a unique idea to search the movie for tech toys and tell fans where they can obtain them. I must admit I didn’t pay that much attention to most of these items, but I loved how the Cullen house was furnished and decorated. What do you think about all the tech toys mentioned above? Do you own any of them? or intend to purchase them now that you know their exact make and model?

I love trying to find background props for movies (ie. furniture, wall decor and fabrics). The visual designers go to such lengths to make a set so realistic and fabulous at the same time. They are really under appreciated. Thumbs up on this article for doing the research for people like me!

    What about Bella’s black MacBook?

  • Shannon

Wow. I never really thought about the props… But now that I think about it, I have `been asking for a new cell phone and that Nokia was a cool phone… :D

I saw the movie more than once so I started noticing stuff in the background on the 2nd visit. I really loved the house even though the cross was in the wrong spot…. sorry, got off subject…. You can find Edwards WAY COOL bookshelves at Bed, Bath and Beyond – the books look like they’re just floating or stuck on the wall, I got an advertisement for Bed Bath & Beyond and saw them in there. I noticed the table in his room too, I liked it but it doesn’t resemble something that would cost more than something you would find in Haverty’s or Rooms to Go.
Can we go further with this type article? I’d love to know where I could find the rings or bracelet that Kristin wore in the movie and I really loved her hiking boots for the baseball scene…. People write to this guy in EW to find out where to get this and that from movies, why not us?

haha how bizzare – as you were filming your child’s first steps or something, you could just sneakily drop into the conversation: “Did you know, that this is the exact Panasonic video camera that James used when he was about to kill Bella in Twilight?”

  • Brandi

I want to know where I could find all the clothes!! Expecially Alice’s does anyone know where I could find that info? (email me, twilighter85@hotmail.com). :)

  • Trisha

Anyone know where the white wall decor of the trees and birds is from (from the Cullen House kitchen scene)?

    Thanks!!
