CELEBUZZ.COM: America Ferrera in ‘New Moon’?

Add America Ferrera to the long list of actresses who are supposedly up for a role in the Twilight sequel New Moon.

Following in the footsteps of Vanessa Hudgens and Dakota Fanning, the 24-year-old Ugly Betty actress has reportedly auditioned for the movie. Ferrera tried out for the part of Emily Young, fiancÃ©e to Sam Uley and second cousin to Leah Clearwater.

“I got to audition for New Moon today! For the role of Emily,” Crazy Days and Nights quotes the outspoken actress and snappy dresser as saying. “The casting director, you fans of the book will be glad to know, has read the books and loves them. And you can tell. His direction was spot on for the character. I loved the books. I would so love to be in the movie!!!”

Seems like a perfectly reasonable match. After all, Ferrera has had experience interacting with monstrous characters before.

As always, it’s a rumor until Summit confirms. I must say, I really like America Ferrera but I don’t know yet if I like her for Emily. (oops I put Leah)

I like her, I think she’s an amazing actress and can strive at no matter what part she plays. If for some retarded reason they don’t cast her as Emily, I would at least like to see her as Carmen from Tanya’s coven (If they make breaking dawn into a movie!) She’s an amazing actress, we all just need to give her a chance… She’s passionate about the part, she doesn’t just want the fame (She already has fame). I’m sure she’ll do great!!

i think america young would be awesome as emily! shes looks like the emily i imagined in my head whilst reading the book, so i think she’d be good. even with scars on her face.

Twilight has truly become a hot mess. They seem hell-bent on casting destruction. Whether its America Young or America Ferrara, neither one of them is right for Leah and certainly not Emily. Q’Orianka Kilcher would make a great Emily and Keisha Castle-Huges could do nicely as Leah. Twilighter, I truly wish you well with your audition. It would be nice to have an actual Native American play one verusu just supposedly looking like one.

I’m really angry about them wanting to use America Ferrara as a Native American character.Shes mexican .I’m a 15 year old Native American and I think that I could play that character perfectly.I find it very racist ,it’s basically saying that they can’t find a real native person thats good enough to act the part ,its very embarassing to our culture and we need as many natives as we can for these parts.I dream to become a great native american actress when I grow up.

to Chantelle ^^^ America Ferrera is NOT mexican she IS from Honduras and those are simply Nationalities stay in school there’s people down south that are of predominantly amerindian blood and full blooded than Canada & U.S.A put together.

If shes really going to be emily she doesnt have a long part its only in a couple of lines and she is only mentioned in the last three books. its not a big deal i also tryed out for an native american part but i have not gotten a call back
