Besides having an eight pack washboard stomach and reprising his role in New Moon, Taylor Lautner, 16 used to be a nobody. He didn’t even know what Twilight was!“When I signed on, I had no idea it was going to be like this,” he said. “I hadn’t even heard of ‘Twilight’ yet. As soon as I was cast, I did some research and found out it was a bit bigger than I expected—and (even) then, I didn’t even know how big it was going to be,” Taylor tells local Michigan paper MLive.com.
Born Taylor Daniel Lautner, his first love wasn’t acting—it was karate. He began winning tournaments by the age of seven, and trained with world karate champions when he was eight. The same year, he was asked to represent his country in the World Karate Association where he proved himself by becoming the Junior World Forms and Weapons champion, winning three gold medals.
The karate kid’s first foray into acting was at the behest a martial arts instructor who pushed him to audition for a Burger King commercial! He didn’t land the part.
His big break came in 2005 at the age of 13. Taylor was the lead in The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D. Within months, he successfully auditioned to play Eliot, the son of the Bakers’ rival, in Cheaper by the Dozen 2.
There had been speculation that he might not be on board for New Moon, due to the character’s radical physical transformation in the book series.
But a few weeks ago Taylor bulked up for the challenge. “I had put on 20 pounds,” Taylor told Access Hollywood.
“I started working out the day after I finished filming Twilight because I knew it was a necessity for the character… I guaranteed 10 more pounds, and I’ve already put on six.”
Let’s not be quick to forget his other project. He was featured in Cassi Thomson’s music video “Caught Up In You.”

Dude, Taylor Lautner is a wonderfully charismatic, sweet, and friendly person! One of the rare actors like that, too. He is deteremined and impressive. For example, about the alleged rumor of dropping him from New Moon due to his size. He didnt even complain, he went right to work to make himself better and prove his capability. Everything is great about him! [even though, as eveyone else, he has his flaws]

whats so great about Taylor?
i have a few reasons.
1) i think he is one of the best/most dedicated actors on the twilight movies.
why?: as Much as i Love Rob. he is is kinda like “w/ever i dont like being famous that much” and kristen..ugh shes just not that great, kinda Bland. and she dosnt seem to be really into her character of Bella.
Taylor. on almost every interview i have seen him in he is always smiling, has a good attitude and loves his character of Jacob. in his latest one he looked gorgeous beyond reason and he said he had been studying the New Moon Script and the BOOK alot. and hes always like ‘Team jacob” “were wolves are so cool’ and he seems like he dosnt have much trouble with giving fans attention. so thats whay i like him best.
sure Robert is LOVELY, funny and talented…but he just so…shy-ish.

Taylor is so great because of one word: charisma. He can captivate a crowd and make girls swoon and he’s only 16! Amazing.

I really love Taylor as Jacob in Twilight, I was urged to go see the film by my Twi-hard friends and fell in love with the story-straight away bought the books and am now an utter-twilight-mad fan! But I saw the film characters…Rob, Kirsten and Taylor before I read the books and they were imprinted in my mind AS I read the books, so…if Taylor was removed it would’ve really messecd up my reading of the books!!
