Chaske Spencer to Host ‘Be The Shift’ Event on June 14th

Chaske Spencer, star of Twilight Saga’s New Moon and Eclipse will host the charity launch event of the “Be the Shift†campaign on June 14, 2010.
Los Angeles, CA (June 2, 2010)- On Monday, June 14th, actor Chaske Spencer, star of The Twilight Saga film series: New Moon and Eclipse is set to host the launch event for “Be the Shift,†a campaign created by the non-profit organization United Global Shift. “Be the Shift†is using the Cheyenne River Sioux Water Infrastructure project as a launching pad to empower celebrities to use their influence to make a lasting difference in their own communities, which then creates shifts that they want to see in issues that matter to them personally.
This “Be the Shift†event, hosted by Spencer, fellow cast members from the Twilight Saga film series and other supporting celebrities (such as cast members from True Blood, General Hospital, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Ethan Embry, Virginia Madsen Mario Lopez, James Van Der Beek, Taryn Manning), does just that, and in turn, will help raise awareness and support for the snowstorm disaster victims from South Dakota’s Lakota Sioux tribe. Spencer, who is a Native American from the Lakota Sioux tribe in Idaho and Montana, was compelled to help after hearing of the disaster. In less than a day, Spencer produced a PSA through his production company Urban Dream Productions, enlisting the assistance of his celebrity friends to raise awareness and support to those who have been without power and water for weeks. The PSA urged individuals to “shift the power to the people†and help to empower everyone to create sustainable, lasting change in their communities and countries. In less than a month over 13,000 letters went to Congress as a result of the viral PSA campaign. The event will give attendees the chance to voice the shifts they would like to see in their own communities and will help raise money for the BE THE SHIFT movement.
In addition, Chaske and his partner non-profit UNITED GLOBAL SHIFT are launching a year- long campaign empowering people to BE THE SHIFT that they wish to see in their own communities. Utilizing cutting edge technology, people can text BETHESHIFT to 66937 in order to sign the mobile petition bringing attention to the circumstances in South Dakota as well as the overall BE THE SHIFT movement.
