TA TALKS BACK: DISSECTING DAVID SLADE, THE DIRECTOR OF ECLIPSE (MOVIE)

TA Staff member MiniJazz breaks down David Slade’s (chosen director for Eclipse movie) life and career for us:

 

Who is David Slade?

David Slade was born September 26th, 1969 in the UK. He started his film career by making music videos. David Slade has made videos for Aphex Twin, Rob Dougan, System of a Down, Stone Temple Pilots, Tori Amos, Muse and AFI.

As for movies, David Slade has directed “30 Days of Night“, “ Hard Candy“, and “Do Geese See God” David won two awards for the movie Hard Candy. The Audience Award and Best Film Award. He has also written and created a movie called “Meat Dog: What’s fer Dinner”

Although other vampire movies have nothing to do with “Twilight“, “30 Days of Night” allots David some experience in vampire movies. I know that many may not think that this does not give him any credit or anything but at least David will know what he is getting into with the CGI and making vampires be vampires.

    The more I think about this the more worried I get. I do believe we should not judge a book by it’s cover, but when you turn the page and peruse the chapters things begin to fall into place.

    This isn’t just a “Vampire movie with cool cgi”, it’s a LOVE story. I’m OH-SO-Worried that this premise/foundation will get lost in the “effects” competition. This is my deepest concern. Will he forgo the adoring look in Edwards eyes – or Bella’s urgent need to be near him – with him? Will the “we will die for each other” tidal wave that hits me each time I watch the movie or read the books disappear? God Forbid!

    I hope he will continue like the last director. The movie followed the book about as closely as a movie can. I would hate to see some guy who doesn’t know anything about the series totally ruin it.

    I did not like 30 days of night, So I really hope he does well! I could not bear it if anything was to go wrong with this storyline!!!

    I don’t know about this either, I hope he doesn’t concentrate on newborns terrorizing Seattle. I am looking forward to the battle at the end, but I want to see Edward, Bella, love triangle, wolves and vampires training. Let’s face it The Twilight Saga is not a 30 Days of Night horror movie. Hopefully he will read the books and understand that. As long as they follow the books as close as possible it should be great.

    I think all the haters need to give Slade a chance. Just because you don’t like 30 days of night, doesn’t mean he is a bad director. Hard Candy is an awesome movie and he did that. Don’t be so quick to judge. Need you forget how hard we wanted to judge Chris Weitz at first? We aren’t supposed to judge people to begin with.

    i don’t want to be a hater but i’m a little scared cuz yea twilight is a vampire movie but its also a LOVE STORY!!!! I mean i am confident that chris weitz will do a good job but im a little worried about eclipse.
    oh and btw 30 days of night is one of the worst movies ive ever seen. im a horror movie fanatic so i judge them harshly though but seriously dont see it-it sucked
