DOCUBLOGGERS INTERVIEW WITH MELISSA ROSENBERG

Posted October 24th, 2008 By: Team Switzerland 5 Comments »

Docubloggers sat down with Melissa Rosenberg, the screen play writer for the Twilight movie, at the Austin Film festival the other day to talk about everything Twilight. She responds to questions about fan pressure, why it was necessary to flesh out the characters of the “bad vamps”, and what the most difficult scenes were to translate into the movie, among others.

Melissa was asked several other questions by Docubloggers and they are going to release the final portion of the interview later with other pressing questions such as, “do the vampires sparkle in the film?” In the meantime, if you haven’t already read about Melissa’s appearance at the Twilight panel during the Austin Film Festival, click here.

I think this was one of the better interviews done regarding the film thus far. Melissa answered some really good questions and gave me a lot of confidence that while some scenes were needed to be cut, the overall feel of the movie will please even the most diehard Twilighters. I can’t wait for part 2 of the interview so we can hear what else she has to say.

What are your thoughts on this interview? Did it put you more at ease, or are you worried that them cutting out the “rescue” scenes will lessen the emotion of the film?

WOW- this was a REALLY good interview! Can’t wait for the second part! I think she did a wonderful job of explaining exactly WHY some stuff was added and some stuff was deleted. I also like the advice she gives to young writers at the end. It is SO true that you have to be tough and willing to take criticism to make it as a writer. All in all, I’d hafta say I’m even MORE excited to see the movie, and my excit-o-meter was already off the charts!!! Thanks for this, TeamSwitzerland, and TA!!

GREAT interview!!! and I’m really glad I found out the “blood typing” scene won’t be in the movie, b/c now I won’t be disappointed when I actually see the movie, b/c i’ll be expecting it. I mean, to be perfectly honest, I was pretty disappointed when I first heard that, but I know that it doesn’t matter b/c the rest of the movie is gonna be SO awesome it’ll totally make up for it- not to mention, I know they can’t fit EVERY scene from the book into the movie, it’s completely impossible, so they had to cut some stuff- it just hurts a little bit at first to find out what those cuts are, since I love every part of the book so much- but that’s why I’m really glad I found out now, so I can be disappointed and get it over w/b4 I see the actual movie, so I can really concentrate on all the amazing stuff that IS in the movie while I’m watching it rather than dwelling on all the amazing stuff that they left out. And Melissa Rosenburg explained everything so well, you can’t possibly hold the stuff they left out against them- not even remotely. This movie is going to be a whole new level of amazing!!!

No bloodtyping day! That was one of my favorite moments between Bella Edward and Mike Newton! Im not terribly dissapointed, I can understand why they had to, but it was a fun scene. So much happened. It was the first day of their “freindship” the first time he scooped her up and drove her home….clair delune…..uh, one of my favorite scenes in twilight! Very good interview, she gave alot more then I expected, thanks.

I agree with Kerri in the sense that blood typing was one my favorite scene of the book, but I side with Melissa in the sense that it had to be cut. Honestly, people, nothing CRITICAL happens from there. For example if they would have cut the Port Angeles scene then that is a different story and that would’ve mean WAR! LOL Seriously, Melissa has A LOT of good points that she would’ve been rescued to much and I try to picture it and she’s right. That wouldn’t work for a movie. Plus, that she expanded the story of the bad vamps more, because AGAIN, she’s right. If they would’ve come in at the end of the movie, that WOULDN’T work for a movie. Anyhoo, I have COMPLETE confidence in her, I’m excited for the movie.

I really like the questions they asked her… But her answers wow, I could not listen to her talk for 14 minutes, she has horrible public speaking skills. I am really po’ed about there being no blood typing scene wth is with that!? Whatev. all I know is this movie is going to be the bomb diggity: )
