DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE – SEQUEL REPORTS ARE FALSE

Posted November 14th, 2008 By: Team Switzerland 9 Comments »

Don’t believe the hype that the rights to the next three books have been secured. Any reports you’ve been hearing about confirmation for future Twilight sequels are still false at this point.

We apologize for jumping the gun and reporting that Summit had gained the rights to the other 3 books in the Twilight series. Several entertainment sites are reporting it, although it originally came from THR (The Hollywood Reporter). We’ve contacted Summit directly and they have confirmed that these reports are false and that THR had published that information without their cooperation.

So until it comes directly from Summit, don’t believe the hype!

Glad you checked with the source! Bummer, though. Of course, it doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t still happen in the future!

  • Ana

AAAawwwww, oh well, I still have hope.

“…I felt hope.” – Jasper Hale

Bummer! I was so exicted to hear that more movies would be made, but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the rumors are confirmed. With a number one soundrack and ticket pre-sales going through the roof, Summit would be crazy not to secure more movies! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed until then!

I went to the twilight tour at king of prussia mall and rob said he was signed on for new moon and eclipse.
if that means anything at all….

  • kerri

I didnt believe it anyway. Catherine has made it quite clear that we fans are now the ones in control. Everyone, I know it’s a tough economic time, but please, see Twilight atleast three times and they will have their money!

  • AliceCullen

OH PLEASE! They shouldn’t have released that article. Twilight is going to do the same thing batman did in theaters. Some theaters(most)are already sold out of tickets for the 21-26. I’ve checked i know. I am serious. Twilight is going to be such a hit that Summit will have everything they NEED to do the sequels! Harry Potter had the same situation. They weren’t going to do a sequel, but look at it now!!! Harry Potter is on its SIXTH installment and there are TWO parts to the seventh!!! Twilight will be the next batman!!! I am psychic i know(Get it people call me Alice)

Not only have I seen interviews where Rob himself has said he is signed on for the next two books but also Kristen has said it more then once that is just Summit trying to keep people guessing but if the stars themselves have said it I don’t think they would have it wrong.

  • Nikki

The stars often get signed on in advance for all the movies if there is a trilogy or a saga. That is just insurance for the studios that the actors are committed to go all the way with all the movies. They signed on when they signed their contracts.

  • Tia

Glad that the source was checked out, however if it means anything Catherine has already seen a work in progress script from Melissa(the screenwriter) and the actors have all signed on to do three movies. They are just waiting for the greenlight to go ahead and shoot. That my friends will depend on us Twilighters and Twi-hards! Catherine said she needs at least $150 million for all the werewolves CGI effects and for the go-ahead from Summitt to start filming. So I know we will all pull through and see the movie more than once if we the fans want to see the sequels get made! =)
