E! DAILY 10: NIKKI REED TRIES TO STOP SMOKING
E!’s Daily 10 had a number one story last week with Nikki Reed. It seems Nikki Reed and some of her New Moon cast mates are all trying to quit smoking so they can be better role models to their young fans.

I think it’s cool that we are seeing the cast notice this topic. We’ve heard so much from the Twilight fans about this topic, and many fans were disappointed to see so many from the cast smoking. I think it’s actually pretty impressive that Nikki would decide to do this. And if even more of the cast does quit, more the better. I know I for one would like to see all of them in movies for many years to come. Go Nikki!

Really, really impresive!!! I was actualy quite a bit dissapointed when I saw photos of almost all of main cast smoking… I never even tried smoking, and I find it disgusting, so I would be really happy if they would quit. They would be sending out a very positive message, and that’s very important since they have such a big influence on young people.

aw i don’t really mind anyone smoking, what people do in their free time is really up to them… as long as they make a good movie who cares? and why did this video stop at the most intersting part?!

a couple monthes ago when i saw the pictures of most of the cast smoking i was very dissapointed. im so happy that nikki chose to step up and try to stop. that makes me have more respect for them!
i was a bit disapointed when i found out that most of them smoke. its such a bad habit. its nice 2 know,tho that some of them r going 2 try and stop. best of luck 2 them…
Wow. Thats very responsible. I didnt see one photo of them smoking while filming Twilight, but New Moon! It was like a Joe Camel advertisment. LOL!

Of course it is always good when a smoker quits, or tries to, but, really, Ho Hum, is this truly news?
How about Nikki quiting, staying off cigs for a verifiable while, and then drawing attention to that fact.
Patting yourself on the back at this stage seems a bit self-serving. Sort of like, hey nothing else going on for me, hey media, look my way.
Awh yay that makes me happy that they are all trying to quit smoking to be better role models for their fans, i think that it shows that they really care and they want to make a good impression for all of their really devoted fans :]
I quit smoking 4 years ago and I quit cold turkey….I feel for them and support them! Kudos to them and for recognizing what a positive influence this will have on young fans *and older*….and it will also prolong their health as well
Good for her. Hopefully they all realize that this will benefit them throughout their entire lifetimes, and hopefully they can have the strength to quit. For some reason it seems like the thing to do again, and with all we know about smoking, it just seems like such a silly way to live your life and potentially die, not to mention ruin your skin, hair, etc.
I was also surprised when the first photos came out on the New Moon set and most of the cast were smoking. It’s great that Nikki has come out to say she will stop smoking and if some or all of the cast members give up smoking as well, good on them… But to give up a habit like that is pretty hard and they have to want to give up for themselves and not because they feel the pressure from the media and public to be “good role models”, they are already under enough pressure. Look some Teenagers, Young Adults, Adults… will always be smoking and I don’t see them giving up just because , Nikki or Kristen or Rob or Kellan or Peter etc.. do. Some might, but some might not say “Oh I am going to give up smoking they did. I don’t think it works like that. People who give up smoking because they want to give up themselves have a far better chance sticking to not smoking, then the ones that are told or pressured into it. I used to smoke one day I decided for myself I am giving up and that was that, I have not smoked now for over 15 years, good on me…..
Everyone knows smoking is bad . People do it anyway….
I think that they all might TRY but I’d really like to congrat those who actually DO QUIT!!! It IS a little early for the congrats. I do applaud them all for at least ’saying’ they’ll try! It is hard to do, I know. However, I agree w/ you TwiMomAustralia. They shouldn’t quit just b/c they feel pressure from the public. They do already have enough pressure trying to satisfy us rabid fans! lol
She should stop smoking for her health, not role model issues. It’s her life and her body.

That’s fantastic!! I’m so impressed! So many times actors say they have no responsibility for influencing a young audience, when it’s just a fact of life that they do, fair or unfair.
THAT makes me sooo happy and I am so proud of Nikki and the others that are trying to quit! I’m really glad that they are taking the role model issue seriously but am happier that it will be good for their health!!!
I think that it’s great that she is quiting. I hope that other people in the cast will try to stop smoking too. It’s really bad for there health and more inportantly they willl be good role models for there teen fans .And I am one of those fans.
