E! NEWS: BILLY BURKE TALKS CAST RUMORS AND ‘NEW MOON’

Posted July 13th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 13 Comments »

In a very interesting (for lack of a better term) new interview with E!’s Ted Casablanca, Billy Burke, who plays Charlie Swan, talks about all of the rumors going around about the cast of Twilight, a bit about New Moon, how Robert Pattinson is dealing with fame, and more.

So Kristen was reportedly pregnant, which we cleared up and showed to be totally false.

Rob is probably pregnant with my child. It’s funny no one picked up on me and Rob’s affair.

Do you wish you were more involved in rumors like your younger costars?

I don’t feel left out at all. They can keep me out of those rumors as much as they want.

How do you think Rob’s handling all this attention? He seems stressed out on the set of his new movie, Remember Me… Think R.Pattz would ever get totally fed up with it and quit acting altogether?

You mean pulling a Joaquin Phoenix? I doubt he would go that route. He’s got a lot of talent. He’s got his art, as opposed to being bogged down by all this bulls–t. I think he’s handling it well. I feel a little bit for [Rob and Kristen]. I think [the attention] was unexpected by both of them.

Do you sometimes feel like a spokesperson for Rob, Kristen and the other castmembers’ personal lives?

Some people do ask, but they know the answer they’re gonna get: I don’t know anything.

OK then, how will the next few Twilight films be different?

Haven’t seen a script yet, have no idea what’s going on. Nobody’s seen a script yet.

Twi fans want more sex and violence with their beloved vamps. Blame True Blood. Think any of the upcoming movies will ever be R-rated?

I doubt it. I doubt they’ll go that far. Stephanie [Meyer]‘s books are what they are, and to go beyond that is gonna be a misconception of what the actual text is.

We know Robsten & Co. are hotter than the Harry Potter kids, but will the boy wizard beat out New Moon at the box office?

We took their release spot the last couple years, and we’re taking their summer release spot next year. I don’t get into competition. I just want the movies to be good.

What if there’s a Harry Potter/Twilight crossover? How much would that make?

What do you mean, that they meet? Harry battles Edward? I doubt it. That would be a complete bastardization of what’s going on!

Okay well the interview itself wasn’t the greatest, but I love all of Billy’s responses. He is so witty and down to the point all of the time so it’s always fun to read what he has to say. I especially liked his answer to the “Sex/violence” question. Stephenie wrote the books beautifully, and I don’t think anything should be added above what’s on the text, so I’m not sure where Ted got that question from.

What did you think of this interview? Do you wish Twilight had a bit more of the sex/violence that is more prevalent in Trueblood?

It was a fair interview in my opinion however Ted really tried to put Billy in the hotseat and Billy handled it quite graciously. I applaud him for that as for hp/twi meet no competition Twilight wins more sex/violence/blood not needed Stephanie covered it all.

  • Chelle

So how lame is it that Billy is asked if he feels like a spokesperson for RP and KS when Ted is asking himself about RP and KS for practically half the interview?

Love his short, blunt answers though, and yes, there is no competition between Twilight and HP, people need to accept that.

I LOVED Billy’s response of his and Rob’s affair to Kristen’s rumor of being pregnant. That cracked up! Seriously, where does the paparazzi come up with these rumors?

  • Betty

I thought Billy gave excellent responses. I really liked his no nonsense candor and sense of humor about Rob.

Great responses, to some silly questions, answered almost like a Dad. HA.
About more sex/violence,…. just film the book… more is not needed. There is enough there they don’t need to get gross and gory. Love, conflict, tension, fighting, isn’t that enough. Not sure we need, blood and guts and porn, do we?

There was that Potter vs. again, why can’t they just give it up.

I love how Billy showed what a class act he is, and the complete lack TC has. This guy is an embarrassment to EOnline.

the more i read or see e interviews the more unimpressed i get.
    seriously.
and this ted guy is super annoying
but the most disapointing thing is, what they do on their shows is for the audience that they draw in, so they ask questions/word things to how those people like and find it interesting.. and it just makes me mad lol
and robsten??..are you effing kidding me!!..thats so lame
and has anyone noticed when you go to a grocery store that the tabloids pretty much have completely fabricated an entire relationship between robert and kristen.
its just sad, that people honestly feed into and believe that kinda stuff.
i really feel bad for those who get followed by the paparazzi and have there names and pictures plastered across every magazine. :(
sorry, i’m babbling lol i’ll stop now

    Good Job Billy,

This Ted Casablanca, honestly, sometimes I wonder about these so called Interviewers, no wonder celebrities are fed up,

as the saying goes – asks a stupid question, get a stupid answer.

I love how witty Billy is in this interview!

I COMPLETELY agree that Twilight needs to stick to the purity of Stephenie Meyer’s text…Is parts of HBO’s True Blood hot? Some…but there’s definitely something to be said about a story that has fans so enamored and entranced that doesn’t show one raunchy NC-17 scene…I personally think it’s a harder to show something romantic and sexy WITHOUT being lude and inappropriate. Because boy – do I know a lot of women who have read the Twilight series that were fanning themselves and blushing while reading it! =)

True Blood is fine, but there’s no way I could fall in love with Bill Compton over Edward Cullen.

  • Darlene

Hmmm…I’m obviously behind the curve here. I didnt know there were any rumors about Kristen being pregnant. Seriously!!

As for Billy, I adore him. I love his acting style. I could even be crushing on him a bit…

  • Erenn

I second what Creamy said. And if you’ve ever gone to Ted Casablanca’s gossip website, you’d just ignore him altogether. He spins things the way he wants to and spews complete BS. I love the way Billy handled the questions and am disappointed that he didn’t get more legitimate questions to his role and the movie itself…. However, I didn’t expect anything less from TC. He’s (for the lack of a better term) a gossip drama queen just like Perez Hilton. LOL

  • creamy

edelacruz: If you are basing your Bill vs Edward comment on the TV show, I couldn’t agree with you more. No contest.

However, the book Bill is without question one of the sexiest, most tremor-inducing, most likely to cause you to throw-yourself-at-his-feet, do-what-you-want-with-me men (vampire or not) that I have even had the pleasure to allow into my head.

Edward Cullen is magic. Bill Compton is…..more.

I don’t understand!! Kristen was reportedly pregnant? why don’t these guys get any rest at all? why is that their personal lives are on display like that.. how is it our business to know such details, we wouldn’t want people poking and prodding with our personal business now do we? so why should we allow this invasion to continue.

we do not want these guys to dislike us, at some point for not knowing where to stop when it comes to them.

hate tabloid and how they eat at people.
