E! NEWS: ROB PATTINSON AND A BEVY OF BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRES
E! News has a new article about the upcoming casting for ‘New Moon’, and they’ve gotten some insider information as to what Chris Weitz and his crew are looking for, as well as where they’ll be filming. Details below:
Robert Pattinson will be back, and so will Kristen Stewart.And we’re happy to report that it was just announced this afternoon that Taylor Lautner will be coming back, too.
We’re talking, of course, about New Moon, the OMG-cannot-wait-for-it sequel to Twilight. And we just got some fresh info on the new blood that director Chris Weitz is on the prowl for…
We got our hands on a casting breakdown for the movie. According to the document, Weitz & Co. are looking for at least six people to play Quileute Indians, all of whom eventually morph into wolves.
As well, while shooting is set to begin in March in Vancouver, they’ll also be filming in Italy.
Yup, Weitz & Co. are looking for Italian vampires: five men and two women. No surprise really, but all of them are described as being, among other things, “beautiful,” “handsome” and/or “elegant.”
Latest rumors to hit the Internet buzz that Disney stars Vanessa Hudgens and Brenda Song are being considered for roles.
We’ve got no confirmation on that (reps for both say they’ve heard nothing of the sort), but it’s got us thinking about who might be next in the rumor mill—Selena Gomez, maybe?

I can’t wait for them to cast and announce who will play the wolves, and Volturi. I am also happy to hear another source saying that they will be filming in Italy - I think that is a necessity .

It is a truth universally known that all Twilighters DO NOT WANT ANY DISNEY KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL, like the way I threw in a little Jane Austen? :] Seriously, that has to be a joke. They can’t really be considering Disney kids?? Can they? Well, it would be hard, but if they chose Disney kids I would have to NOT see New Moon. It would look like Summit Ent. were cashing in on their popularity, which is NOT what Twilight is about!!! But on a lighter note, I LOVE that they chose to keep TL!!!! He will be great!! He has done soo much to fit the bulkier part of Jacob, he already has the personality part down. I don’t care if his face still looks a little younger!!! That is soo much better then someone completely new!!! YEAH TL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Umm i do believe that Taylor did do a FEW Disney Movies though.. so on tech. Taylor is a Disney Kid… (direct to tv movies but they are disney) Either way.. Glad he is staying!
I think total unknowns is the way to go- someone we have never seen before-and totally unearthly -looking. Casting Jane will be a neat trick. Of course I would be amused to see one of the Volturi be Stephen Moyer- ! Italy is essential for a locale shoot.
I am so excited that they are keeping Taylor to play Jacob, it would not be the same without him. I hope they do not put any HSM people in the movie, I think I can do a better job than they can. Where do I audition?…LOL!

I have just finished the second novel and am in the third. I cannot wait for the movie. I had never heard of this series before the movie and I was automatically addicted. Does anyone know if the other books will be turned into movies? If so they really need to keep the same actors and actresses!

Okay I understand the casting of a movie to be important. What I would like to see in the Twilight movies is Hollywood make an effort at casting us Native people for the Native parts. The fact that Miss Hudgens or Miss Song are even being mentioned for the role of Leah Clearwater, feels like a slap in the face to me as a Native actress. There are so many of us Native actresses who would love the opportunity to read for that part. Leah Clearwater is a strong Native character, who needs a strong Native woman to play her.
This is how I feel as a Native actress.
Personally I don’t think Disney channel kids are “real” actors they have no depth in their roles. I mean common these are kids TV actors! come on, and they don’t even look anywhere near native American. No Disney stars please!

I’m excited to see Robert and Kristen again. Could care less about Jacob or any of that werewolf crap. It was boring as hell in the book, so why would I want to sit through a movie version? Ugh. But I am excited to see who they choose for the Volturi vamps. No DISNEY KIDS! They’ll ruin it! Italy is the best part! Mostly because of Edward, but those Volturi vamps are pretty cool! So no Disney kids. PLEASE.
I agree with TlingitGirl206. I’m not native american but if the part of Leah Clearwater is for a native american girl, then cast a native american actress in the role! It won’t be hard to find a talented native american actress.
If strong defiant Leah Clearwater ends up being played by a HSM star with an itty bitty voice it would ruin the movie! Could you imagine pretty little Vanessa Hudgens and her baby voice trying to be Leah? That’s just incredibly wrong on many different levels.
BTW hurray for Taylor! I’m Team Switzerland, I swap back and forth between Jacob and Edward when reading the books.

This is going to be an exciting two months! I can already feel the Twilight lull wearing off and the electricity of New Moon begin. It’s been a great few days for news and Im psyched for casting to begin! Please, as big a fan as I am to Disney, PLEASE PLEASE, NO DISNEY KIDS! How the hell would we feel terrified when we all expect Venessa Hudgens to break out into song…nope, not feeling it!

The choices for the Volturi will be great, I’m sure, as long as they stay away from the Disney folks. I think more un-knowns would be best, for the budget, and just for this film, in general.

I totally agree with everybody, NO DISNEY STARS!!! if they put them in, I’m pretty sure lots of of twilight fans will either get very mad, and complain on every website possible, or one of them is going to need more bodyguards. PLEASE, PLEASE, NO DISNEY ACTORS! Had to sit through HSM 3 with my niece & nephew and I wish I could rather be killed!!!! Definately no for Hudgens! If she is cast in New Moon it will feel like if she is going to break out in a song any moment!! YES, YES, YES for Kristen & Robert! Found the werewolf parts within the novel a bit boring (too long)! Must rather focus on Bella and Edward again!!!

The rumors about the Disney people joining Twilight is utterly insane, and just that, a rumor,fan started of course,because there is no newspaper or even rag magazine that is publishing that story. They are under contract at Disney,(the girls in question) and cannot work for anyone else while under that contract. Unless Disney bought out Summits Sequel rights,which I highly doubt will ever happen, Summit has a winner on its hands and is not going to hand over their money pit to Disney.So, lets not get our fangs out just yet, and are we really that hungry for any news about the movie or cast to just believe the first thing that gets thrown out there? The person who started this rumor is just sitting back laughing at all of us fools, yep, me included since I am also writing about the subject!!!

Well I for one am happy to hear that they will be filming in Italy. That is one of my concerns for the movie that I don’t have to worry about. And the casting of the Volturi…please…no Disney stars. That has been on my concern list ever since I heard the initial rumor. And it’s still there.
Other than that..I’m very excited for the movie. Sad for Rob for having to drop out of “Parts Per Billion”, though.
This is an important part of the saga and I really hope that Summitt and Christ Weitz do it justice. Keeping fingers crossed.

Disney stars - just say NO! In fact, I think it would all be far more effective to have lesser known actors in all the roles - it’s easier to get into the fantasy that way. I mean, if Johnny Depp/Brad Pitt etc. had played a role in Twilight it would never have worked and felt real. I hope they get real Native Americans(preferably from the Pacific Northwest) for the Quiliutes and real Italian actors for the Italians. Authenticity is always best, and frankly it would cost too much to hire any of the Disney crew anyway. Also, the Disney crew make sit seem like a teeny-bopper flick, and I think many of us would agree that the Twilight saga is just as attractive and meaningful to those of us over 20(and 30 and 40 etc) as the teens.
Vanessa Hudgens? Really…..C’mon. Do you really think she can be a vampire? No. I think the lack of going to the tanning salon would kill her *rolls eyes*

I really don’t understand why everyone is freaking out over Disney actors. I can imagine if Vanessa Hudgens is cast, people will make a petition, just like they did for Rob, to get her kicked off the cast, which will just be a waste of time for everyone, because it won’t work. Chances are that neither Vanessa Hudgens nor Brenda Song will be in the movie, but it they are, so what? If one of them is cast, then Weitz saw something good in them, and hopes that we, the viewers will too.
BTW Vanessa Hudgens isn’t under contract with Disney anymore. She was under a different contract for each HSM contract, and since she hasn’t signed on for the 4th or any other Disney movie or tv show, she isn’t under contract, and therefore can do Twilight.

okay if they want to talk about casting the native american girls, they really should be focusing on Emily. Leah is in only one scene and she’s talking on the phone while everyone else eats spaghetti, and isn’t important until Eclipse where she turns into a werewolf.

Ya know, I just heard about the hissy fit Robby boy threw on a plane when a flight attendant asked for his autograph. Ya know, if he doesn’t like the limelight or having his picture taken or signing autographs, then he should have become an accountant or something. This movie fan is happy to help him move into obscurity by not paying my money to see his films. What a jerk. He chose this profession. It comes with the territory. Everyone who has a job has to deal with the stuff that goes along with it, no matter what the profession. I used to be a fan; who can admire such a jerk? This Twilight fan won’t be bothering with him anymore. There is such a thing a human courtesy. It was one autograph from a flight attendant who has to take crap from people all day long, every day. i am not a native american myself, my ancestors are italian (woo go italy shoot), but i have a deep respect for first nations people and think the only option would be to first pursue native talent for those roles. i would love to see first nations people playing the quieleutes, or at least some of them. a huge cool part of the books is that there is a native tribe and characters that take a huge role- why lose that? we need to pay respect to people that were here first as they have done the same and we need to look for opportunities to do so, this is a great way to do that- why not?
and ps, can i just do a little vent here about jacob’s hair. where is the long, silky, gorgeous black hair? in twilight it looked like unkempt wavy middle-aged woman hair. people keep saying oh well he is native american it supposed to look like that- are you crazy????!! i think that’s insulting. no it’s not supposed to look like that, that is not what most native hair looks like at all! it looked like a girl who got up and never brushed it, and i am a HUGE FAN of long hair on guys, his just looked a mess. anyways i like him even tho he is small, honestly if these people could just get the relationship right who cares, and so far i am NOT IMPRESSED with kristen stewart-i really dont think she and rob pulled off the whole love you forever thing altho a lot of the rest of the movie was perfect- so maybe we should stop focusing on the rest (the details) and start hoping these actors don’t wreck the chemistry, character, and relationship of twilight
