E! ONLINE: MELISSA ROSENBERG ON ‘ECLIPSE’ AND DAVID SLADE
E! Online has a brief interview with Melissa Rosenberg where she talks about Eclipse and David Slade’s influence.
To find out how dark Eclipse will be, we’ll have to wait until the movie actually comes out.But Twi-screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg says there’s absolutely no doubt the third flick in the vampire franchise is taking a darker turn.
And she credits the storyline and director David Slade for that…
“David has a darker sensibility, so it clicks,” Rosenberg said. “The story has a slightly darker tone. I mean, it goes into a full-out battle, so it is darker in the nature of what it is. David was the perfect director for it.”
Rosenberg’s comments came just a day after Justin Chon, who plays Eric Yorkie in the Twi-movies, told me Eclipse is “gravitating toward more of a dark kind of moody film.”
But not to worry, Rosenberg said, Eclipse won’t be unrecognizable. “They have the continuity of having the same writers and same actors, but the directors put their own stamp on it,” she said. “They’ll be similar, but very different.”

uuughghh. I haaaate it. Dark?? REALLY?
If they are going to beef up the fighting they better beef up the romance too. Let’s face it guys are not going to go to see Eclipse in the theaters 5,6,7…15 times like girls did for Twilight and will do for New Moon. Look how good Twilight did with the fanbase of just mainly girls. I’m not saying we won’t go to the theaters to see it, perish the thought, but if it’s all gory fightning with our favorite bedroom and tent scenes either left out or glossed over then it won’t get the repeat viewing the other films did and will get. People will just wait for the dvd.
I can’t keep getting worked up over what may happen to my favorite book, MR should just stop talking.
HHHMMM I really wonder what Rob and Kristen’s thoughts are about now?
I would just like to see balance and if they have to make a decision about putting in new story lines or putting in what is in the book, I vote for what’s in the book.
^^^ the tent scent is in there cuz they alredy filmed it. I think when they say its gonna be dark that there just focusing on the fight because thats like the scenece everyone is anticipating besides the tent and proposal scenes
I am really worried about him as a director. This is my favorite book as well and what I have read so far doesn’t give me much hope. PLEASE DON’T RUIN THE MOVIE!

Marianne: Hear hear! I dont like he idea of Eclipse being darker. But… i cant really imagine how its gonna be darker. like i just think of dim lighting.
I really dont MR. She doesnt get much right. Lets just hope she has her agent scanning these types of pages for feedback and she LISTENS to it. If she leaves out anything important from the book, or she even ‘glosses’ over it, as Marianne said, i will be pissed.
i think she should just stop talking and getting our hopes down. But wait, if she does talk, and the movie is infinitely better than we had expected, i guess it will be a lot better than having our hopes got up and then being bitterly disappointed.
