E! ONLINE: WHO SHOULD BE PEOPLE’S NEXT SEXIEST MAN?

Posted June 12th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 10 Comments »

Each year, People magazine devotes a special edition magazine to whoever they deem to be this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive”. So, who will be this year’s? No word yet, but E! Online has started their own campaign to get none other than Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson to top the list and appear on the cover:

For a change of pace, why doesn’t the mag go for a more offbeat choice? Somebody younger, but who still has a rough, dirty side. Someone totally humble in his sexiness, as opposed to Jackman, who flexes even when not asked.

You know, somebody like…

Robert Pattinson, duh!

Rob was one of People’s Sexiest last year, but we want our pet Pattz to get the highest honor he deserves—the damn cover!

(Thanks Robin)

I think Rob has a very good shot at grabbing the title this year, but that’s just my opinion. Rob has a lot going for him right now and no doubt has an uncanny ability to dazzle women just like his character, so I think it’s a great possibility.

What do you think of E!’s ‘campaign’? Do you think Rob has a shot at the title? Who do you think is his main competition?

For starters I love that slam on Jackman! Woo hoo.

So, who are the deciders? A table full of People editors? Twilight fans? Rob crazed females?

Of course we all know who deserves that title, but, outside our personal Rob universe, is there anyone else who has the world-wide media crashing around like a herd of rabid elephants? I haven’t heard of them if that is the case.

I can’t imagine them choosing anyone else. Not to mention, if they have a great cover photo like that US/Twilight edition, they will have to plan on extra printings. Always welcome news to a magazine.

I don’t believe that making the top of every “most ***** list” is that vital for Rob. Right now, he needs acting credibility, not something to reinforce his heartthrob status.

Ted C and e-online are just aiming at pleasing their readers (and getting hits), I don’t know what they really think, but good if they really believe that he is IT.

But, lots of people don’t find Rob attractive, and I am affraid of a backlash if he made the TOP of that list.
Plus, there are a lot of super sexy actors/singers with less hype currently, but just as deserving.
I have a (BIG) thing for the Supernatural boys personnaly (especially Jared) for example.

He is starting to be overhyped according to me, things need to calm down or he will fall down as fast as he rose: this constant talk about him annoys a lot of people, and instead of giving him a chance, they will look the other way. And since I wish him a long carrier, I wish that things would lay lower for a while, and that he has some time to prove his acting abilities…
And then maybe in a couple of years, he could be on top of that list. Right now would not be a good timing according to me.

Hmmm I don’t even know why they have to think about this! If they know their marketing strategies, there’s only one choice in our opinion, of course.

I don’t see an opportunity to vote. Yes we are in our own Twilight world, but that world has been very much exposed to the rest of the universe! probably even a parallel universe knows about Rob by now… (I think I need professional help!) This has been an
all-about-Rob Friday! Can it get any better?!

I hope that too much exposure and the nonstop hype doesn’t make people sick of seeing him. I know his twi-fans(like me) don’t feel that way but those in the media love the chance to watch you fall once they’ve hyped you up. I think that’s why he hates having his picture taken, and hates seeing his face everywhere. I don’t blame him. I’m glad the constant pictures and the in his face camera shots have slowed down. Is that kind of adoration and constant public exposure sustainable to anyone other than ardent fans?

no it should b kris allen!

  • Twilight Mom Australia

OK guys, I agree with all of you in one way or another.

AS you all know by now I LOVE ROB, I LOVE ROB, I LOVE ROB…..

“OF COURSE” HE IS THE SEXIEST MAN OF ALL

and he will get my vote every time, over and over again….

creamy ,yes he deserves that title. And Hugh Jackman as funny and as good looking as he is , he is a bit of a show off.

Chelle , yes only one choice… (and no, no professional help needed, it’s too, late)

anna S, I am also afraid of the backlash as well ( ps: me too, Supernatural boys , Sam and Dean are bit of alright, their Dad John Winchester is not bad either and closer to my age, lol)

Marianne , the hype worries me too, and he’s never likes having his picture taken. There are organised photo shoots that he has to do work related etc.., but the ones where the paparazzi follow him all the time that would upset a saint, constantly being followed. So at the moment he is hot property and sells magazines, but as you said people will get sick of him, (not me) and yes the media and people love seeing someone fall, the last thing we want is for our Rob to go all recluse…on us and /or a bit strange (example Joaquin Phoenix)
It’s a catch 22 on one hand we love Rob and love seeing photos of him, cause one can’t have enough and on the other hand we want to protect him as well, keep him sane and safe…what to do… I hope in my heart of hearts that he has great people around him to keep him safe and grounded… We do want him healthy and happy… I do not want that gorgeous smile to disappear.

What i find to be interesting is that all this hype about Rob was not caused by him. Its totally true
that some things wih him have went overboard. Even to the point where he does not even understand
where all this is coming from. Should he be the sexiest man alive? Duhhhhh. Of course. The only one
I feel is even in his league is Hugh Jackman. Not everyone will find that Rob should get the title but
there are critics everywhere. Good Luck to him!!!!!!!

  • creamy

Yes, I know you are all right. Overexposure can be deadly to a career. I’m not sure if he can do anything about it, as Kelly said, he isn’t initiating all the coverage.

He does pose sometimes, he does submit to some interviews, but not excessively. It is normal for him to have lots of exposure when connected to a movie release. But, in the interim, it is a very fine line to walk; he wants to draw back in order to not be overexposed and to give himself some peace, but he also has to not disappear and keep legs on his career. Hopefully he will have a wise publicist and manager to help him navigate.

Yes, we are part of the problem. What do we do? Not look?

I am still stunned by the suggestion of Kris Allen. Was that a joke?

Creamy, what did Kris Allen suggest?

  • http://twilightersanonymous Marianne

Sorry never mind, I read the comment wrong.
