‘ECLIPSE’ FILMING UPDATE: NEWBORN VAMPIRES AND MORE FROM DAVID SLADE

Posted September 16th, 2009 By: Evie 14 Comments »

We have a very cool update courtesy of VanCity Allie tonight. Allie was lucky enough to be close to the Eclipse set today and got to see a great scene where the newborn vampires appear in the forest. In addition we have some tweets from David Slade in the last couple days where he talks about the scenes they’ve been working on.

From VanCity Allie, the crew setting up for an Eclipse scene:

You can see all of Allie’s story and all of her pictures (*Warning, these are big spoilers*) here.

Next a couple of tweets from David Slade this week:

You can read all these updates and follow David Slade here. Make sure you’re following TA on twitter here.

(Thanks Resonnant!)

What do you think of the newborn vampire pictures? Do you like David’s tweets?

I can never keep my self away from spoilers but . . .

    WOAHH!!!

those pics look so creepy and I can just picture it! I can’t wait to see it in the movie!!!! ahhh lol

Those pics from the set look really eerie! They look like shots from a horror movie, rather than a Twilight Saga one. I know Eclipse is darker, but from what the actors have been quoted as saying about David’s approach, it sounds like it will be a lot darker and gorier than the previous two. I don’t mind the darker element, but I really hope David stays true to the book and the love story, which is essentially the core of all the books and movies. I’m sure I’m just being paranoid, but I won’t be happy if by the time Eclipse comes round it’s an all out battle-fest and Bella and Edward’s story are pushed to the wayside. I want to see way more of Bella and Edward together in this one, and of course the sleepingbag scene is an important one! I love reading David Slades tweets though!

It’s going to take some work for me to get used to seeing these newborns. I’ve gotten used to godly, beautiful Twilight vampires. They look chilling, eerie, yes, but I guess besides what Bella saw in Eclipse, there were a lot of newborn killings going on that we didn’t get to “see” reading the book. Just please, no zombie-shark-like teeth! (not that SM would allow it). We’ve only had a glimpse before of what Victoria looks like, and so far it seemed like her look was following the original beautiful vampire look, but these newborns here really look more like savages. I guess that was the point?

I am super excited, though also REALLY nervous about this one…I can’t have this movie too gorey and gross! I agree with A’s comment there, hopefully his main focus will still be on the romantic elements-the love trianlge and such-and less on the ‘horror movie’ factor, you know? Well…That’s what I’m still nervous about here…so I guess we’ll see… *bites lip off* lol :/

I’m not liking the appearance of the newborns at all! They look far too much like the vampires in 30 Days of Night, not at all like the vampires of the Twilight saga. Not sure I like them coming out of the water either. I agree with A…this has more the look of a horror film, rather than a Twilight movie. I was afraid David Slade would do this. I am not impressed.

  • katie

crap… it says the account has been suspended :(
    i cant see the pictures!!

Chelle: HA,HA pointy shark-like teeth, I can just picture it.. LOL…
you forgot the moss growing on their teeth, he,he.

    I so agree with you.
Like I mentioned in the forum, I know the newborns were created to go after the Cullen’s and mainly Bella, and were not taught anything by Riley or Victoria, they kept them savage.
Having said that, do they really have to look more zombie like than vamp like? We are spoiled by our beautiful vampires, so I guess if any have to be destroyed, it should be the ugly ones.

I hope ample time is spent on the over whelming love story Eclipse contains.

  • Chelle

Marianne hahahah moss! Gross! These newborns could possibly have some algae though if they’re coming out of that water hahahha… Ok seriously I’ve been happy so far with what we’ve been updated with from Eclipse the crucial scenes seem to be in there so I’m still finding some way to have faith.

  • lisa

Um excuse me but aren’t the vamps supposed to be beautiful? No offense but they were just pale, GET IT TOGETHER MR.SLADE!

  • emmy

Wow this scene looks absolutely amazing!!! Those vamps look seriously creepy!

  • omjb

woah dudee!! they lukk literally dead !! nuthing lyk tha rest of tha cast !

  • Den G.

OMG!!!! DISGUSTING!! Why are all the newborn vampires looks like that. They all seems to be bald. Isn’t twilight movies supposed to be a modern and hip movies. And anyways why is David Slade concentrating too much on the newborn fights and werewolves. He should concentrate more on Edward and Bella resurrecting there love for each other since Edward was not so visible in new moon movie. Honestly, twilight movies should revolve more around Edward and Bella just like the book.
