Entertainment Weekly has some super exciting news to share with us! The New Moon cover has been released for the movie tie-in cover. So we have some never before seen artwork to share with you:

Attention Team Jacob: Little, Brown has revealed their cover for the movie tie-in edition of New Moon, which features an exclusive image from the Twilight franchise’s second film. Taylor Lautner fans should certainly pick up more than a few copies (Those arms! That smoldering stare! Remember, he’s only 17!). As for Team Edward…well, at least the image proves that the moon is not, in fact, made of green cheese.
I am so excited about this cover, I cannot stop staring at it. At first I was totally shocked, I think my draw dropped open. As a proud Team Edward member, I can’t believe how Jacob is holding Bella. After that first reaction though, I do like it. I like how you see Edward’s face, as it is always present in Bella’s mind. I like too, the wolf pack in the background.

Ok, here’s my first thoughts about this:
Edward looks scary, well he would be if he could see what Bella was doing while he was gone, but I really pictured him to be more tortured and sad while he was away.
What else can I say about Jacob, he’s stealing this scene definitely, as he should, this is really more of what I expect as representation of NM, Jacob and Bella up front and center, Edward lurking in the background, with Jacob being her protector and comforter. I think Taylor nailed this one, I like seeing him in deep thought like that, like he’s thinking about what Edward did and how to “fix” Bella
Bella, well I can see her heartbreak, are there tears on her face, I can’t tell, she’s showing more emotion here than the poster
I like all the daunting figures in the background, wolves? vampires? I like that element of mystery and danger
I like the setting too, by the water, that infamous cliff setting!

Holy Holy Crap. This is forum material. Head over there so that we can keep a running commentary. It’s bubbling over and I can’t wait to blab with all of you. Look for this under NEWS. I am Team Edward all the way but this new cover totally took my breath away….it’s fantastic. LOVE IT, LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!
omg i love this cover… it is absolutely perfect for New Moon.
Lets face it… edward is not in the book a whole lot so i like that he is not at the forefront of the cover… but the way he is lingering in the background is perfect..
next, the way jacob is holding bella suits him so much.. and i love that bella has her arms crossed over her chest like she is trying to hold herself together, and jacob’s arm is there too because he helps her to keep herself together..
I also like the fact that even though there embrace is pretty personal, bella isnt looking at him, she still looks very depressed which is how the book is… once again i think its perfect!
i also like the wolfpack in the background as they are also an important part
all in all, i say well done! cannot wait for this movie!

love jacob in this pic, he’s so hot.
Um no! Needs someone older who can compete with Edward on screen for this to look hot. But with Taylor looking like her lil bro, it’s just ‘eww’. Nothing personal against Taylor. He showed great work ethic trying by getting more into character, but don’t think he can pull it off. He’s miscast. Without any spark between Jacob & Bella, there’s no real tension for New Moon. Sad because it’s my favorite of the books.
First of all-WOOP! I love this cover! I love that Jacob is upfront and how it shows only a faint pic of Edward in the background! Deffinitely shows that Jacob takes front and centre in New Moon!
Second:OMG! Jacob is sooooooooooooo hott when he’s brooding…way hotter than Edward, who looks 70 rather than 17 when he’s brooding!
Third:Can’t WAIT ’till New Moon! Team Jacob forever!xx

ok so this was sort of the original idea Stephenie had for the NM original? Edward was supposed to be eclipsing the moon… anyway, I don’t like Jacob, however he is necessary for us to love Edward even more….
Ok Im gonna be honest , at first. I HATED it!!!
then I started picking up on smaller details. How Bella (kristen) looks so perplexed, how Her hand is pushing him away, but Jacob (taylor) is pulling her closer. The wolves behind them, the cliff setting, how she looks as if she pushing him away to run OFF it.Im not big on edward in the moon. I would have had him like walking into the woods, fading away kind of. I dont like the moon thing. not at all. Im team Edward, I love jake but im a bigger Edward fan. And Taylor looks, well, Amazing! i’m soooooooo happy they kept him. No one else can do jacob like Taylor can. Im planning my New moon party right now!

Ahh Team Jacob has just gained an enormous amount of strength and fuel. =) Taylor rocked that fierce possessive look. Definitely matches the picture in my mind of Jacob in the book.
This is seriously going to take a lot of pressure off of Rob. Move over Rob, Taylor is in the house!! haha
ok so first time i read new moon i hated jacob i just wanted to scream get ur hands off her, she’s edwards. second time i read it i loved him i was like god bella just kiss him allready!!! but seeing this cover brought me right back to the beginning with his big arms (squeeee) around her im like hurry up and come back edward look he has his hands all over her !!! soooooo excited come on november!!
I was kind of shocked at the picture. The way Jacob is holding Bella like she belongs to him. Bella is posing kind of seductively…she looks enticing. Jacob doesn’t look old enough to handle any of Bella’s advances. He looks just like a kid. I think Edward needs more of a competition than Jacob. However, Edward does look scary and mad in the image.

I literaly let out a hysterical laugh when i saw this. I guess it was because im team Edward and he leaves in this one, so im sad. Well this is a great cover anyway, but i wish they wouldve showed a real picture of Edward instead of cover art, and hadnt made him look so scary. But i guess Bella thinks of him as always being mad because of her human lack of abilities, such as being slow and weak.

I love it. I am Team Edward and I still love this book cover. C’mon you ‘tards… New Moon is ultimately Jacob’s story, Edward leaves for over 300 pgs and Jacob takes the story. Edward comes back (*melts* hehehe) and THEN it becomes a horrible love triangle, which is when we should worry about who battles for the cover of Eclipse… =D I say let the little wolf boy have his glory for this movie… but Team Edward will rise victoriously for Eclipse =D
ok the first movie book cover for twilight was bad, don’t even say it was okay. It just ruined the book. Now this one is a little better, but still they should just keep it normal
No,No,No,aahhh,it hurts. Bella, does look conflicted, I’m too much team Edward to be objective I guess. I know Edward leaves and is in the background for much of the movie, but he does come back. I wonder if this is what he will look like in her dreams and when he is an illusion, he looks sad. I don’t like the eye liner that much though.
Taylor has such an intense expression, like you said Chris, but No,no,no, moving over for Rob, Taylor maybe in the house but Rob still has the world, right Twi-Mom Australia?

I love Jacob’s and Bella’s pose. Jake’s stare with his arms around her is just perfect!! It’s exactly the way I all imagine it. I mean, they hug all the time in NM, so this works out great.
It’s so cool how the pack is in the background. For Edward…well…he’s where he belongs. Away from her, but still lurking in her memory. Just like the book! I have great confidence in this movie.

Sorry I don’t like it. Not because it’s “too much Jacob” - he does feature in most of the book so it’s only fitting he’s more focal than Edward. I don’t like the way Bella is leaning into him. Wasn’t she uncomfortable with Jacob holding her hand, etc.??? That she didn’t want to lead him on? And I really don’t think Bella would wear a tank top like that. Doesn’t most of the book take place in winter? Ending in Italy in March?

The more I look at this….I have to stop….. the more it reminds me
of the things that happened in the book that upset me. So if they set out to evoke varied emotions, they accomplished that for me anyway. Pain and anger, for part of it but, relief and love were the other part of the story. So this shows only part of the story. He comes back is missing.

hahah Marianne, do I read a hint of worry that team Edward will get slaughtered by team Jacob? hee hee, I love this cover way more than the one sheet, this should have been the movie poster!!! This is exactly how I pictured it, except I would have Edward walking away somewhere in the haze looking back at Jacob and Bella. As much as I love what this cover represents, I am still loyally team Edward all the way, but I’ll let Jacob/Taylor shine here, it’s ok, Edwards left, I’m very upset with him in NM *tears*
Um can anyone tell me why Jacob has his arms around Bella? There is a disturbance in the force, not cool!
It’s sad yes, that Edward (thinking it best for Bella) took off and left her in the dust (remember I love Edward too). BUT, remember, Bella admitted that without Jake she’d probably be dead. He resurrected her. Edward’s “voice” kept her going too. Also remember that Edward thanked Jacbob from the bottom of his still heart. Edward knows that Jake looked after Bella and how could Jake not fall in love with her? Edward did so - it’s not Jakes fault that he loves Bella OR that Edward ditched her. Like Bella said, Jake was the better choice, but Edward was the best.
I kinda like it but I think Edward looks kinda scary! I mean you can’t even really see him but his eyes look totally weird! And I think Bella looks wrong. I mean she looks like she’s sad but not really she looks like she’s getting cozy with Jacob! That’s my opinion at least… I think it looks OK but they could do better! Even if they used the movie poster for it and changed it some it would be better than this!
At least it’s better than Twilight’s movie release cover!

I’m sorry, I think it should be a poster, not the book cover. I do not think it surprised me. Jacob looks really, really good. It seems to me he is pulling her closer but her hand is the buffer. It would have been nice to see the pack as wolves. I do not like the depiction of Edward in the moon. Even scary he looks better than that. Not sure what I expected but I would like to have it anyway. I’m for Edward all the way!

Okay…so this morning after this was posted I went through a couple of emotions, horrified & irritated by this cover! I decided that I would not post until I had a chance to get over my shock and think about the book more. I have just gotten home from work and now I can give a more rational post on the cover. This cover definately fits the book. Jacobs expression is a cross between possesive and protector. It looks like Bella is half heartedly pushing him away, she knows that she doesn’t want Jacob like that but she needs him to help hold her together (obviously we know this from the book…but you can see it in her posture) Arm wrapped around her waist. Edward looks menacing in the background (I think that might just be his determination to leave Bella…hey I can hope right?!)
Okay I am still soooooo Team Edward…this cover still makes me want to scream at “Take your hands off her”!!! to Jacob!
GUYS if the cover of the book sparks so much debate….can you imagine this friggin movie?! What a crazy emotional rollercoaster ride we are in for!!!! WOOT TEAM TWILIGHT SAGA!!!!

It angers me too, because i’m Team Edward all the way, but the thing is we need to be fair, Bella needed Jacob when Edward left, he picked the pieces and put her back together, and that is what both the book and the movie are about.
I hate that Edward seems to be an angry ghost here, but look at how Broken Bella seems.
it truly is painful to see. and I must admit taylor nailed down the Jacob bit.. he looks everything Jacob should at this point of the story..
but I wanted to see more Edward just the same.

I love how Jacob is holding Bella, and how she is holding onto Jacob and holding herself together… ( like she holds herself together in the book ) Clever!!
I love how they have portrayed Jacob as the protector which is what he is supposed to do wolfe form and human form as he is in the book…
Bella looks really lost and you can tell that she is seeking comfort and is kinda looking for Edward, and for those of you who have not read the book… it shows them what to expect… more jacob!
Edward looks scary… but if you think about it, if he doesn’t feed much when he leaves her hes not supposed to look healthy is he? Plus he is supposed to be angry in Bella’s mind when she does dangerous stuff to hear his voice… so yeah it makes sense!
The eerie background totally works, as New Moon is more about secrets unveiling and is all about the loss of Edward from Bella’s life.. as she says in the book its like she died, they portrayed this really well.
The people in the background… so mysterious which totally works because it leaves us hanging… are they werevolves? or are they vampires?
Cannot wait for New Moon to come out… its going to be on a totally new level to twilight!!

OMG OMG!! THIS cover is perfect!!! absolutely incredible. It really fits the book from beginning to end. I actually thought we would see a cover of her laying in the woods with Edward walking away after he had left her. BUT THIS!! OMG THIS is amazingly beautiful! NOT in shock at all. I love Edwards look of anger (if that is what you want to call it) In the moon and the pack behind Jacob and Bella.. I Love the look on Bella’s face as if she is not ready to be without Edward, so is keeps Jacob close to help her through. Let me say it again. I LOVE THIS COVER!
I think this is a perfect visual to accompany the book. Everything that New Moon is, is in this poster. At least the majority of the book. Bella and Jacob, Edward in the background. Perfect.
I am continually thrown for a loop on how awesome Taylor is as Jacob. I supported him in a letter to Summit, and I would imagine they are plenty happy they recast him. He absolutely SMOLDERS in this poster. What a good place for Bella to be. He looks more than capable to be offering comfort!
Your all going to hate me but i prefer this book cover to the actual movie poster. To me, this shows much more about the relationship between bella and jacob and you can see how vunerable bella is. you can also see edward which is obv amazing. and i like the way the pack are sort of ‘crawling’ up the cliff thing.

I LOVE IT TO PIECES!!!!! This represents the book so much better than the current poster. Remember…Bella fell in live with Jacob in NM-of course she didn’t want to and didn’t realize that she had- but she revealed those feelings in Eclipse. In my opinion, the current poster should have been the Eclipse poster with Edward and Jacobs positions reversed. Think about it…Bella in Edwards arms and Jacob looking back wishing that things were back to the way they were before Edward returns.
I love it!!! To top it off…Taylor looks Hott in this pic!! If only Nov. 20th was next week. I can’t wait!!!!!!
I agree with the lot of you; the cover IS indeed gorgeous. But I’m looking at it from the eyes of the newbie, the one who hasn’t read New Moon or any books in the saga for that matter, and knows next to nothing about the story. This cover gives away too much. Will it stop me from picking up a copy, no, but I hope it doesn’t spoil things for the Twilight virgins.
PrincessJen: I will accept the role of the cynical old crone for this purpose; There are no virgins. With the exception of inside the world of Twilight. This would include someone who has an interest in the movie and has not read the book(s). I just can’t see it.

I have to say I am 100000% Team Jasper fan, I would like Jacob but as you point out ( and I am so glad I am reminded) he is only 17 and I am 28 so that wouldnt work out for me. I love it! I am sick and I had a cough drop in, I was so shocked my cough drop fell out onto the floor!!! lol Bravo! it makes requesting Novem 2oth and 21 off from work all that much sweeter! I even ordered a Team Jasper long sleeve shirt so I am ready for the Pennslyvania cold in November!

OMiGezze it took my breath away!!! its amazing im team edward (60%) and team jacob (40%)But I love this!! I love taylor though hes such a great actor and he deserves this!! This poster is amazing!!! I give it two thumps up!! I do agree however about how little clothes bella’s has on I’m a little upset about that In the book it didnt seem like she would wear something like that!!
I absolutely HATE this cover. It makes it look like Bella has forgotten all about Edward and has moved on & is dating Jacob. (Which could not be further from the truth.) Thankfully I have my hardback NM which is still in great condition & I won’t be needing to buy a new copy. If I needed a new one I would be extremely angry if this was the only copy available.
