Entertainment weekly has a new interview with Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in Twilight. In the interview they talk about how familiar he was with the series when he auditioned, his actual audition process, and how he never thought he’d get the part.

I don’t know how I managed to look at anything but Rob in this video, but I love the posters behind him. The top one looks very new…

Okay back on topic – Rob has mentioned a few times that he never thought he would get the part. I admit, I was hesitant about him at first, but now I love him as Edward.

What about you guys: Do you think someone else would have made a better Edward, or do you think Rob fits the part perfectly?

i personally think rob is perfect for the role, i can not think of anyone more suitable.

i love hime as edward cullen but i also love him as himself robert pattinson.

Robert is the perfect Edward. Yes, we all had different images of Edward in our heads, but I think Robert is a nice melding of all those ideas. Plus, he took the role very seriously, for which I am grateful.

Wow – I just finished watching the Rob and Stephanie interviews and if it is even humanly possible I am more excited to watch the movie! I love how Stephanie fought for Kellan to be Emmett – that has got to make him feel really good. Also, the way she describes Rob shifting into Edward – ooh, it gives me chills! I love the fact that Stephanie and Rob actually argued interpretation of Edward. Oh *swoon*!

Yeah , I wasn’t too sure that ANYONE would be able to portray Edward in a movie because every Twilight fan has their own “version” of Edward Cullen . But , after I really watched him in all of the trailers and interviews, I really thought that somebody was able to bring Edward to life ! And it wasn’t just some actor trying to act beautiful and mysterious throughout a movie , Robert Pattinson actually was a version of Edward ! I dont know if that makes sense at all , but thats just really how I am seeing it .

Robert really tries NOT to be beautiful and amazing and all that Edward is . But he tried to put himself inside of the mind that we really never get to know . We only see Bella’s perspective of Edward , but I think that Rob just does a phenomenal job of going inside the head of Edward Cullen , and brings out what he sees in the movie . Once again , I dont know if anyone can make sense of all that , but really thats just what I believe based off of what I know about Edward and Robert.

Can I just say that I got into the series after watching the teaser trailors, and to be honest, I didn’t think the guy playing Edward was Rob Pattinson, until someone told me, “Hey, that’s the guy from Harry Potter, Cedric Diggory.” And I said OMG you’re right! That SO doesn’t look like himself. But then i became utterly OBSESSED with the series and I CAN’T picture anyone else playing Edward. Rob IS Edward, I can’t picture anyone else playing him. When Rob switches to that part of Edward Cullen he becomes Edward. I love him!

I believe Rob is perfect for the role as Edward. He did his homework and prepared for the character of Edward. I don’t think there is another actor who can fit the role better. As for Robert the person, from what I’ve seen and heard he is a geniune sweet guy, well mannered and attractive. I don’t think Rob expected all this media when he took upon the character of Edward. However, he’s handling himself very well considering what he has to do to promote the film. One of the most interesting things about him that he is so humble, which is rare.
