EW.COM: PARAMORE’S HALEY WILLIAMS TALKS ‘TWILIGHT’
In a new interview with Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams about her love for Twilight, how Paramore ended up on the soundtrack, the influx of new fans, and more:
EW: Tell me about working with Rob Cavallo on this new record. He’s got a pretty major resume as a producer — Green Day, Dave Matthews, My Chemical Romance. Did you seek him out?HW: Honestly, we kind of sought each other out, and it was just the right time. We were looking for someone to do “Decode” with, because we were trying to get on the Twilight soundtrack…
EW: Oh, really? I thought from what I’ve read that [Twilight author] Stephenie Meyer sought you guys out and wanted you specifically to be on the soundtrack. But it’s more like you auditioned?
HW: Well I read the books, and when they were working on the soundtrack, I was finishing up the third book, Eclipse, and I was really into it. I thought this was a great art, a really good story, and really relatable, but I’m always into vampires and all that. So we were touring and writing and jamming out new things every day, and I was like, if they’re putting that soundtrack together this could be great, let’s figure out if we could be a part of it. So yeah, we kinda fought for it. And if you look at the rest of the album, it’s Muse and Iron and Wine and Linkin Park, which really isn’t our demographic.
EW: So do you have new fans now that you didn’t have before?
HW: A lot of moms! A lot of older women are super into the books, so we’ll be doing a signing at, like, Hot Topic, and a 45-year-old woman will come up and be all [deep smoker’s voice] “I love your songs on the Twilight soundtrack.” We’re just like, dude, thank you! What do you say? If we can make music that people at any age can appreciate, then I’m set. That makes me so happy.

I am a huge Paramore fan and have been since long before they were chosen for the Twilight soundtrack, so I was thrilled when I heard that they would be contributing not only one, but two songs. I love that they were so passionate about getting on the soundtrack and I would love for them to be on future soundtracks.

they got me kinda in to Twilight the rest was Friends but yeah cuz in Decode the Twilight clips are in it so yeahh and Paramore is a big music band for me i just love them !!
I love Paramore!!! I was a fan when i first heard their song Emergency…and then they brought out Misery Business. Got AWKIF and RIOT! album straight away…then i heard Decode and I got the twilight soundtrack….so awesome. Paramore should be on the new moon soundtrack but with them touring and with the release of their 3rd album soon…they probably dont have time. But thats ok..they’re still a really influential band to budding musos….
I am 32 years old, and love Paramore, I knew them before Twilight. In fact I knew them before my 13 year old daughter did.. is’t that funny..LOL When I first heard and watched their song Crush Crush Crush on Fuse I went and bought their CD, then my little girl was like who is that Mom, I said take a listen I think you will like them..
I LOVE PARAMORE bef0re i heard they sang 2 s0undtrack..hehe..i love hayley williams..i envy her v0ice.. She have a great and unique v0ice..s0metimes i used to imitate her v0ice..i cAn d0 it but n0t t0tally her v0ice..just a quite one..hehe..I h0pe pAram0re will sing in the 2nd sequel: NEW MOON..=)
I am a new fan of Paramore since Twilight. I love their unique sound and Haley’s haunting voice.
I am obbsessed with Paramore! I love them so much! My fav songs are Misery Busincess, Crush Crush Crush, Adore, Decode (obviously, Hallelujah and That’s what you get.
They rule so much!
I only heard about them when Twilight came out and heard there songs, reaserched them, listened to a few of their tracks and now I love them!

Lol i love paramore now but before twilight i wasnt interested lol my sister loved them but i didnt take any notice before twilight lol …. im glad i did after tho because HW is a LEGEND!!!! lol xx

I had never heard of Paramore before Twilight. (I’m a little surprised I hadn’t because they’re the type of music I listen to & love.) I loved both their songs on the soundtrack so I went & bought one of their cds and I LOVED it! I’m probably going to buy their other cd soon. Thanks to Twilight I have a new favorite band, & Paramore has a big fan. I REALLY REALLY hope they do something for NM they’re great & I want some more from them.

Well I cant say I was a fan but I was obsessed with crushcrushcrush. Then I heard they had a song in twilight and I saw the vid on youtube and hated it =P both the song and the video…but few weeks later I saw the vid again on mtv and loved it!I dont even know what was the difference,but thats why I even watched twilight, because of the decode vid. Now its the song I listen to the most, and of course, now Im a twilighter =D
