ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: 'TWILIGHT' DVD - BEST OF ROBERT PATTINSON'S AUDIO COMMENTARY

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: ‘TWILIGHT’ DVD - BEST OF ROBERT PATTINSON’S AUDIO COMMENTARY

By now, I’m sure that most of us (who have the DVD, that is) have watched the movie with the audio commentary done by Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and director Catherine Hardwicke. Well, Entertainment Weekly has taken it upon themselves to do a write-up of the best moments of Robert Pattinson’s audio commentary.

Below are some bits and pieces of the highlights:

19:22 And the eyebrow obsession begins as the close-ups on Stewart and Pattinson get closer and closer in biology:
Pattinson: We have very similar eyebrows. [Laughs]
Hardwicke: Rob! We had to pluck the heck out of your eyebrows.
Pattinson: S— hurt. Aw, man.

22:18 Carlisle’s entrance, swinging through the hospital doors. Pattinson compares it to a J. Lo video. Then realizes he means BeyoncĂ©. “Peter [Facinelli] would be so good at doing that. I want him to do the BeyoncĂ© biopic.” I have no idea what he’s talking about, but I like it when he stumps Hardwicke. This will happen again.

24:30 Bella confronts Edward in the hospital and he tells her what she thinks she saw happen in the parking lot is wrong. “The moral of this scene is never trust a guy who plucks his eyebrows. You know, there’s always something up. Something suspect.”

26:30 Mike asks Bella to the prom. Stewart says she saw that actor recently and he looked good, older..
Pattinson: I’ve already aged about six years.
Hardwicke: [A little too steamily?] Well, yeah.
Pattinson: I look haggard. Might as well recast. [Laughs]
Hardwicke: Yeah. I’m sure we can do better now. [Laughs]
Pattinson: Yeah, yeah, definitely. Yeah, it made money now. “Where’s Efron?” [Laughs]
Hardwicke: Now we can attract somebody good. [Laughs]

39:35: Edwards pulls up to save Bella from the bad humans (pictured).
Pattinson: [In prissy voice] “Now listen, guuuyyysss!”
Stewart: See, I knew you were gonna start saying something about this, but I think you look very scary.
Pattinson: “Come on guys. Let’s all, come on, let’s be simple about this.”
Hardwicke: I like the way the car roars in. Obviously, that wasn’t your driving, or those people would all be dead.

41:45 Bella has dinner. More close-ups.
Pattinson: I wonder if vampire’s eyebrows can grow back.
Hardwicke: Hopefully.
Pattinson: Maybe they can make that part of my distraught thing in the second one.
Hardwicke: Where you stop plucking?

Reading the whole post just had me cracking up. I loved the part where Rob compares Carlisle’s entrance to a Beyonce video. That was really random - but definitely worth a good laugh. Also, what’s up with the eyebrow thing? I can’t even believe how much he brought up eyebrows, ha!

Have you listened to the audio commentary yet? If so, what did you think of it? What was your favorite part?

  1. Alyssa responded:

lol lol lol Rob’s comments in the commentary were by far the best thing about the DVD. I couldn’t stop laughing. I’m so happy EW.com picked up on this too, Rob is absolutely ridiculous. lol.

  2. Lindsay responded:

I totally loved the audio commentary! I pretty mych laughed the whole time, it just shows you how laid back they all are. It was very enjoyable listening to it. And, I love this break down! And, the eye brow thing was hilarous! He just wouldn’t let it go! hehehe

I just want to say I am so glad it is finally out on DVD, and now it just makes me want to see New Moon so much more. It will be here soon enough! : )

  3. creamy responded:

I thought the eyebrow obsession was very telling. He is SO insecure! Which is pretty funny as he is on so many magazine covers, and every little step he takes is photographed, or at least written about. I recall Stephenie asking before the movie came out, “Is Rob ready for his world to be turned upside down?” (or something like that). She knew he would be a world-wide hottie. I suppose many in Hollywood hope for big success, but when it happens on this level, it is something of a double-edged sword.

Kristen seemed uncomfortable too, but Rob was much more so. I think their self-criticism speaks to both of them being something of a quiet- personality-type. Kristen even carried on about how her mouth looked in the trailer, where itis a close-up of when she says ‘vampire’ in the forest. She didn’t sound happy about it.

I have always wondered what they were thinking as they watched the movie at all the premieres they had to attend. Did they hate seeing themselves on screen? And having to see it over and over?

I think these unrehearsed, candid commentaries are wonderful for the fan. We definitely get to see a bit of their mindset. For the actors, I don’t know.

  4. edelacruz responded:

I also got the DVD over the weekend and I got a kick out of the audio commentary. Catherine, Kristen and Rob all seemed very comfortable with each other. The giggling is hilarious and literally the way Rob pokes fun at himself was totally laughable. Kristen and Rob clearly have issues watching themselves onscreen and it was clear when they would talk nervously over the kissing scene. Rob did obsess over his eyebrows a little too much, but all in all - it was totally entertaining.

  5. Emily responded:

I agree, Creamy. He is SO insecure. I loved reading this, can’t wait to actually watch it.

I’m watching the 3rd disc from Target right now. My husband is not going to sit through the movie with the commentary, so I’m gonna have to wait until later to see it. :(

  6. Kay responded:

I thought they were all hilarious. I was actually most impressed with how funny Kristen Stewart was. I hope it will make up for all of her bad publicity lately.

  7. kerri responded:

Come on guys. Imagine having to see a gigantic version of yourself on the big screne, then be serious about every single expression. Yes, I agree Rob is a bit insecure, I have no ida why, I dont know him personally, but whatever the reason it’s endearing. He really has every right to be proud of his looks, his talent, but he remains humble…I love that. On another note, Rob made the commentary for me! He’s so freaking funny, plus I love his british accent…yum!

  8. mysteriously responded:

“Wow, he’s a superhuman _moron_…” had to be my favorite part of the commentary.

  9. julia responded:

The part where he is showing her his sparkly skin and then voice-over “Bella, I’m sorry I’m such a sweaty man.” He voiced it at the perfect time. My boyfriend and I were on the floor laughing.

  10. creamy responded:

Emily, remember, if your husband wants to watch TV, you can watch the movie, and any of the extra stuff on your computer. I just finished watching the movie again on mine. It is a life saver!!

  11. mysteriously responded:

“Wow, he’s a superhuman _moron_…” had to be my favorite line in the entire commentary.

  12. Susan responded:

This Movie Commentary was my favorite part of the DVD! I still haven’t watched just the movie from my DVD yet. But this was hilarious! I loved all of the eyebrow comments and how they talked about what they liked and didn’t like. It was fun to hear them joke about themselves!

  13. jessica responded:

i loved the audio commentary! When i first got the DVD, i watched that first. I loved it when they talked about the “garden” burgers/veggie burgers. his accent is so cute!

  14. mcullenvamp responded:

me and the hubby watched it with the audio commentary last night and cracked up! he thought pattinson was hilarious! he’s seen the movie 7 times and said that he liked it much better with pattinson’s comments.

  15. Twihard fan responded:

As a fan who absolutely loved the books and was fairly disappointed with the movie, I felt the audio commentary was much more entertaining than the movie. The heart and humor I thought was missing from the movie was displayed by the actors in the commentary. My 14 yr old daughter and I were rolling on the floor the first time we watched the commentary version. Two comments during the “meadow” scene stood out for me… the “just a sweaty guy” comment already mentioned here and the “Cheeseburgas” comment to the line “What do we eat?” Hilarious!!

  16. Carmen responded:

I bought mine @ Target to have the 3rd disc and loved his mini piano concert, was beautiful!!! The commentary had me crakin up as well. Did any one notice that at anytime when ROB spoke he seemed to have food in his mouth. I thought that was great. His comments were the best of all three cause he is insecure about alot of things, especially his eyebrows, have ya seen them when they aren’t plucked, WOW!? But he is still Gorgeous! Love the GQ article. I could imagine if I was a friend of his and this is the way he talked around them just goofy, laid back eating non stop. In biology that was his shirt and there should of been bagel crumbs all over it! I LOVE MY DVD!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Carmen responded:

As I stated before I love my DVD but would of loved to see some outtakes like Rob falling off the bed during the kissing scene. Did anyone catch Rob giving the bird to Kellan when the crash in the baseball scene and saying something profound, Kellan elaborates a little during an interview. I think it would of been great to see them not be so serious and having fun when the mess up, like Rob falling at prom. Just saying I like outtakes as well as deleted scenes.

  18. Emily responded:

ok so I watched this last night at midnight and I basically woke everyone in my house, I was laughing so loud. Wasn’t expecting the commentary to be like that - but I love it!!

But they didn’t say anything about the cheeseburgers line in the meadow! That one was the best. Edward’s like “what do we eat” and then rob goes “cheeseburgers!” hahahahahah I laughed so hard. That was great, and the sweaty guy part when he sparkles, and all of the eyebrow comments. Rob is my hero! hahaha

  19. lulu responded:

what about, “apotamkin” or whatever in that high weird voice?? we had to rewind it. hahaha! the commentary was by FAR my favorite part of the whole DVD. I loved it!

  20. jenb responded:

am I the only one not that impressed w/the commentary? it was okay but usually it was when was Rob talking that I laughed & enjoyed it. I thought it was okay but I doubt I’ll watch the movie w/it again.

  21. Lainie88 responded:

I adore Robert but I have to say, although he was hilarious at times within the commentary, I was a little turned off by how much time he spent obsessing about this or that about his appearance. Catherine & Kristen were giving little details about the scenes, the mood that day, tidbits of info we would never know….which I love. (Loved the part where Catherine was cracking up about the “weird hooded guy” that ran past in the cafeteria.) Robert was very centered around himself. But anyway, I still love him and think he’s wonderful. I love the insight the commentary gives to the three of their personalities. Catherine seems like such a cool, fun person.

  22. twilight~addict responded:

I absolutely loved the part where Edward shows Bella what he looks like in the sunlight and Rob says “I’m so sorry Bella I’m such a sweaty guy!!” It was so funny me and my boyfriend laughed while watching it lol.
