Entertainment Weekly is running a poll to see who should star opposite of Dakota Fanning’s Jane as her brother, Alec:
Now that Dakota Fanning’s casting as vampire Jane in the Twilight sequel New Moon is official, we can resume our discussion about who should be cast as her bloodsucker brother Alec in a manner so serious that the PopWatcher who posts as “Sgt. Hatred” will be forced to once again comment, “This article, fans of this series and any others involved in it are the cancer that is killing worthwhile entertainment.” Keep in mind that actors can play younger than their age, dye their hair, and survive a Disney career — and vote in our reader-generated poll below.

i’m with Sarah, Thomas Sangster all the way!! I can’t picture anyone else! Him and Dakota have similar enough facial features… only thing is he’s quite tall.. but it’s all about movie magic!

I like Elijah wood, great actor. He could be a bit older brother. Skander Keynes from the chronicles of narnia is my second choice. also, freddie highmore because he could pull off the acting part but he’s pretty scrawny in my opinion.the problem with these three is that they don’t really look like dakota. :/I like Elijah wood, great actor. oops…I responded too quickly! High School Musical’s Lucas Grabeel would be great! He’s bigger,older and looks like fanning!
I agree with BellaAnne8: Lucas Grabeel would be good and looks similar to Dakota. I think they could pull it off together. I looked up everyone on that list and my only other choice would be Haley Joel Osment. If not one of those two, they just need to find an unknown that will work well with Dakota.
Evan Ellingson would be PERFECT! Look him up… he’s amazing.
My choice would be Max Pirkis, best known as the boy officer from Master and Commander, Far Side of the World. Very talented, sweet-faced, like her, but could easily made up to look quite stark. He even looks like he could be Dakota’s brother.
Tom felton would be good, able to pull it off.
There are several good choices on the list. But I think that several of them might be too old and wouldn’t really look like Dakota’s twin… I honestly have to say that I can’t really decide which one I’d pick.
I’d love to see Lucas Grabeel playing Alec - if they can make him look young enough to fit the part. And when it comes to the younger actors I’d prefer Skander Keynes and Thomas Sangster.

everyone on here is old. alex is suppose to be young! the only 2 that r young enough to play alex is dylan n cole. n they prob wouldnt do a good job. they need young not old. same with jane. dakota is 2 old. im kind of disapointed know bcuz of the ppl u guys have choosen.
Whoever it is that they pick will not be a disney star. I thought that we had already decided that we didn’t want any in this movie. So they can just take out Dylan and Cole Sprouse and Lucas Grabeel. You know, while they’re at that, take out Elijah Wood too. He seems too old to be cast as a young vampire that eliminates all senses from the opponents.
I think ALEXANDER LUDWIG will be perfect for the role of Alec
because Dakota is 14 and he’s 16. Just 2 years gap.
In ‘Road to Witch Mountain’, Alexander played a twin brother, of
AnnaSophia Robb, since AnnaSophia is somehow similar –by looks– to
Dakota … Alexander will be great.
You guys should check on him.
Just by observing, you can think Dakota and Alex are brothers and sisters.

I think an unknown. I am a little upset that dakota fanning did get the part. Im sure she will do a great job, but I think part of twilights success was due to the fresh talent it provided. It was about the book and now who was it in. Now that they’ve added a big name, im worried that it will become about which big star can they get in the movie, instead focusing on whats really important. there is a lot of good actors out there waiting to be discovered and i think they they should find some one new.
Alexander Conti is perfect for the role. 100%.

Tom Felton would be perfect. He looks like Dakota and he’s already known for being the bad guy because of Harry Potter. Haley Joel Osment, Elijah Wood, and some kid from High school Musical…?!?!?! Come on guys! We need a villian not someone who’s going to sing or warm our hearts! Cameron Bright would be another great pic. He’s played quite a few “dark” roles and is a really good actor.
Gaspard Ulliel would be awesome. I think he’s a good actor, but i had a very hard time picking.
Between Gaspard, Max Thieriot, and possibly Liam Aiken.

I’d be happy with either one of those 3.

Well! gee alot of options I googled them all and I don’t think any of them really git the part perfectly… I think Alexander Ludwig is a little tall, but he looks young enough… and a person they didn’t put on the list who I would love to see is william moseley!!! TOM FELTON ALL THE WAY! I loved him as Draco Malfoy in the HP Series. He would make a fantastic sibling to Dakota Fanning, they look similar and have blonde hair.

Jane is supposed to have light brown hair, but that’s easy to fix. They changed both Nikki Reed and Peter Falcinelli’s hair obviously! I think its important to find an Alec that is similar in look and height of Dakota since they are supposed to be twins. I think there are a lot of options, but I can’t decide. Oddly enough I predicted Dakota Fanning as Jane MONTHS before they even discussed New Moon’s casting. Apparently I was right!

Alexander Ludwig - He seems young enough. I think the problem I have with most of these actors is that they are too old. In the books I got the impression Jane and Alec were quite young - i guessed 10 - 12, and most of these are just way too old. I havent seen Dakota recently, but she is quite a petite kid, and can pull it off. I did like the fresh meat of Twilight but as soon as I thought about it, Dakota seemed to fit for Jane.

Alexander Ludwig for me. He’s not very well known so it’d be cool to have a mix of an unkown actor to an well known actress. He is also REALLY good at acting. If you haven’t seen him I reccommend seeing The Seeker: The Dark is Rising and Race to Witch Mountain. He also is 17 and Dakota is 15. They’re close in age, and Alexander looks fairly similar to Dakota.
Tom Felton is like 21, he’s a good 3 years or something older than Daniel Radcliffe and Daniel is 19. Also it’d be weird for me to see Tom in the role of Alec when he’s already Draco Malfoy for me.
