EW.COM: WILL THOM YORKE AND KINGS OF LEON CONTRIBUTE TO THE ‘NEW MOON’ SOUNDTRACK?
In an interview the other day done with HitFix and Rotten Tomatoes, New Moon director Chris Weitz mentioned that Thom Yorke is interested in contributing to the soundtrack for the film, and also mentioned that if we’re all very lucky, Kings of Leon may contribute a song as well. EW.com spoke with Yorke’s camp and Kings of Leon to discuss the possibility of these rumors:
Speculation about who will appear on the New Moon soundtrack heated up this week after director Chris Weitz dropped a few big names to a RottenTomatoes.com interviewer: “The criterion will still always be what’s right for the movie at that given moment, but Thom Yorke is interested; we might, if we’re very lucky, get Kings of Leon to do something.” Well, well! But don’t get too excited just yet. Yorke’s camp would neither confirm nor deny the Radiohead frontman’s reported involvement to EW at this time. The Kings of Leon connection, meanwhile, seems even more tenuous. “Not as of right now, no,” KoL lead singer Caleb Followill tells EW’s Whitney Pastorek when asked if his band will contribute to the Twilight sequel. “I haven’t had any time to write any music, we’ve been so busy… I would have to write a song in my hotel room, which I think we might could do, but I don’t know. As of right now I’m more focused on getting some rest and writing another album.”
Both of these soundtrack contributions seem very up in the air, but I am crossing my fingers that both bands end up being involved. Radiohead’s “15 Step” was in the credits of Twilight but not on the soundtrack, so I’d love to see them involved again. Kings of Leon I am seriously hoping are on there. I think their sound would be great for the film and we’d be very lucky to have them.
What do you think of these rumors? Do you hope either of these bands end up contributing a song? Who else are you hoping ends up on the soundtrack?
