Fan Geek Battle Royale: Potter vs. Twilight

The Twilighters are hissing and the Potterphiles are brandishing their wands credit cards.

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter-inspired The Tales of Beedle the Bard, lands on bookstore shelves today, sending salivating fans queuing up for a copy of the five stories that guided Harry, Ron and Hermione through Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Borders and Barnes & Noble haven’t seen lines like this since the August release of Breaking Dawn, the record-breaking fourth installment in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series.

The vampire romance has stolen some of Potter’s magical thunderâ€”as well as the hearts of fan(g)girlsâ€”at the bookstore, and at the box office; Twilight cashed in after taking over the release date vacated by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

We just want to know who would win in a head to scarred-head clash: Harry vs. Edward, Daniel Radcliffe vs. Robert Pattinson or J.K. vs. Stephenie?

Watch out though, I don’t think Twilighters hiss – they’ll just kick your butt. I don’t know why it has to be a competition though. Why can’t we like both? Why do we need to be at one anothers’ throats? Do you get tired of Stephenie being compared to JK Rowling?

Well, as for me being a late bloomer to both Hogwarts and Forks (not discovering either until this year) I love both! I am Switzerland!!! Two totally different stories and two totally different writers. Harry brings out the kid in us and Edward and Bella bring us a wonderful love story! I will say this though….I absolutely love HP movies and I cannot wait to see HPB on the big screen! Just wish I could say that about New Moon…but oh well! Wizards & Vamps I love em both equally!

well, I voted for the blood suckers! Im a huge Potter fan but one single wand vs vampire speed, teeth, stealth, dazzeling good looks, marble hard indestructable skin….shall I go on?

I completely agree that they are 2 different stories and 2 completely different writing styles. And to me it honestly seems to be a natural progression to Twilight from HP. Kids grew up with HP and Twilight seems to be the natural next step to the kids who are now young adults.

I am an adult and love both, for different reasons.

i grew up a potter fan, and recently moved on to my next obsession: twilight, of course! i loved harry potter as much as i love twilight. their totally different stories and i could never say i like one over the other. however i will say this: i love stephenie and think she is WONDERFUL, but in truth, hp books are a bigger hit because twilight, unfortunatley, is mostly aimed at teenage (or older) girls. which is why it may struggle in the box office (even though it seems to be doing fine currently!) but i cannot pick one or the other. i’m a hardcore twilighter and hp fan (:

i have most definitely been dazzled by Edward and twilight. However, i love harry potter so much. So it’s really annoying that the two have to be compared. They have absolutely nothing in common, except that they’re really good and have made a lot of money. The majority of the fans are the same people anyway. I love them both and get really annoyed my the comparisons. Stephanie Meyer is a big Harry Potter fan herself. Just saying, but Harry Potter will always be my favorite.

I’m a huge fan of both, but it’s really annoying that people say Stepheie is the new JK. Almost all my friends are Potterphiles and Twi-haters because they read it and expect it to be exactly like Harry Potter because of those comments.

Omg iv’e herd so many things iv’e seen and read twighlight GREAT but iv’e read all 7 copies of the harry potter books and reseved a coby of beadle and the bard but i love them both.in the twilight saga iv’e read twilight, and am almost finish with new moon and i love them1 I LOVE THEM BOTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok from my point of view, there really isnt any comparison. I do not want to chose a favorite, but in reality, if you are to compare Twilight with Harry Potter, well Harry Potter comes out winner.

JK vs. SM? really? PLEASE! J.K’s writing is very eloquent, while SM is very simple writing. JK makes reference to real life stories and myths while SM totally pissed on Vampire mythology. And JK kept a 7 book series strong through and through, she ended the series with a BANG! While SM totally crapped on BD and its one of the worst books ever!

Now comparing the movies, omg yeah we know who wins. HP. Plain and simple, great director, great screenplay and adaptation its just superior. Twilight had a good director, the screenplay was a bit akward and the chemistry and development of Bellas and Edwards love lacked.

Daniel Racliffe vs Rob Pattinson. Well they both win in the looks department. But in acting, well I truly believed Daniel as HP he seems very natural as where RP seems a bit forced and weird in Edward’s role.

Overall I dont think they can even compare because HP is targeted for a different audience, not only that its just very superior in different ways, but its about wizards.

Where Twilight to me is more a love story than vampire story. Seriously, I think SM just made the cullens vampires to make the love difficult. But as far as real vampires go, yeah not really.

So HP kicks butt, but twilight has a soft spot in my heart still.

i vote of course harry potter.im 24 years old female but twilight not my taste.maybe im huge buffy fan therefor i dont like twiligt.its very similar buffy’ some episodes.but i must say david and james more better then robert.

i’ve tried to read harry potter like 8 times but i can’t get into any book but the 1st one and i’ve been reading the 5th one since summer. my sister lovED H.P. till i got her to read twilight now she’s all over twilight and everything that has to do with it. so i think Stepheie is way better then J.K. but that just me
