EVIE & SARAH REPORT ON THEIR CHAT WITH CATHERINE HARDWICKE

TwilightersAnonymous.com chose two winners for the chat with Catherine Hardwicke. Sarah and Evie both sent in fun videos for the contest and below are their reports from the live chat:

First of all I just want to thank everyone at T A for letting me be a part of the live chat tonight. To be honest I was more excited about just winning the ultimate fan contest and representing TA, than the actual chat itself! Thank you to Vamp, Dawn, Jake, Kara, and Wolfsbane for making this happen- and for the great questions!

The chat started with a room full of people. We found out that Summit had a moderator in the room with us. He told us that we were not allowed to ask any questions that related to future movies, but to stick with Twilight. There were several people in the chat room, chatting about several different topics. The feed with Catherine Hardwicke started very suddenly, and most of the room scrambled to enter the password again. There was no method to the madness in answering questions. The entire process was just a free-for-all with people typing in questions as fast as they could. Thanks to the TA staff, Mini and I each had a list of questions we were able to continuously copy and paste, so we could persist with them until they got answered. We were able to get several questions answered that way.

Catherine was very animated as she answered questions. She was fun to watch, and she seemed to really get into the fan spirit. Catherine really appears to care about the actors from Twilight when she was talks about them. She also is very passionate when talking about her experience with Twilight, and the material itself.

I think it would have gone a lot better if we were grouped together by website, and allowed to ask questions in turn. As it was some people got to ask a lot more questions, and even some repeat questions got through. But like I said, I love TA so much, I was just honored to be there representing our site.

Here is a list of the questions asked and answered:

Why did you guys begin shooting with the ballet scene?

What made you visit the line at the red carpet premiere, and how was that experience for you? Was that planned?

You had a female author, screenplay writer, and director working on the film – how do you feel that affected the film?

You’ve said the sparkling effect was very difficult to achieve. Now that it’s over, are you happy with the final product?

What deleted scenes will be on the DVD?

A lot of stunts and wirework was used for the film – were there any injuries on set?

Why did you feel it was important to act out many of the scenes rather than using CGI?

So first of all, I REALLY wasn’t expecting to be picked to be one of the two that would get to talk to Catherine Hardwicke! But I WAS!!!!!! Which is really exciting. I had no questions prepared and they said it was gonna happen fairly soon! Thankfully a few of the TA mods were way ahead of us and were already generating us questions.

There were like 40 different people in there and I’m not sure there were supposed to be, and none of us knew what was going on! Then, a Summit Representative graced us with his presence, and I asked him personally how the chat was going to work, and he said that he was going to select the most unique questions. They decided to throw in that we couldn’t ask anything about New Moon so we took out a good bit of our questions. Then questions were being thrown out left and right in the chat room, come to find out Catherine is there… but we couldn’t see her. : ( We had to refresh the video box and enter a password, and voila! So the whole transition was kinda awkward, it was like, um do we start asking our questions now? Well, yeah we did, and we completely DOMINATED the page a few times!!!

So dude-man started asking her questions, well he was hard to hear, so eventually he got things and started saying the user name and then the question, so I just started listening for my user name to be called out so that I could mark off the question he asked. I was like Major Multitasking, listening to the streaming video, I was on the phone, and I was copy, trying to eat my dinner, and pasting my questions over and over again Ok, so i would hear when he would ask one of my questions, but i couldn’t really concentrate on the answer if i was gonna get more than one in, so i would mark off the question and then return to my RAPID question posting. I must have went through the list of questions like 80 times. Luckily, 7 of my questions were answered!!!

Catherine is a very animated character, and when i did happen to glance at the video, she would be flailing her hands and talking with great expression. She is a great sound-affect maker as well! i think she did most of the sound effects for the movie! I am very glad i got the opportunity to participate in the very random rapid post chat! it was an eye-opening experience and it really was exciting. Although it didn’t really feel like i was talking to some one of celebrity status due to the impersonal atmosphere, i know i did! and now have some kind of experience to write about in school!!!!! Thank you TA for providing this opportunity for me!!!
