EXTRA TV: RACHELLE AND ASHLEY REACT TO ‘NEW MOON’ NEWS
Extra TV caught up with Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria) and Ashley Greene (Alice) to talk to them about some truth and rumors swirling around ‘New Moon’. They get both stars’ reactions to the news that Taylor will be coming back, what Taylor said to Rachelle when she called him about the big news, and what Ashley thinks of the rumors that Vanessa Hudgens is auditioning for ‘New Moon’.

I love hearing the cast reactions! I think it’s really clear how thrilled they both were that Taylor would be returning. And it’s nice to hear from Rachelle, what Taylor’s reaction to the news was too.

I think Vanessa Hudgens would do a great job as Leah Clearwater. I think she would be a good Emily too. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out.

I think that Vanessa would be okay…maybe. Leah is kind of an annoying character that no one seems to like, so maybe she can swing that.

I don’t want that whole ‘high school musical’ character coming into the beloved twilight series it’ll seem like a joke and not to mention she’ll bring that aura of cheesiness along *cringe*

who is vanessa hudgens? i deliberately block out anything having to do with high school musical (someone before me said that she was involved–is she the brunette?) and disney in general (except for pixar), so if she is, i would have a resounding ‘no’ to her being leah. nothing against her acting skills, which i am not aware of, but a part of being a famous actor is being typecasted, and i’m afraid she probably has been. at least for me. i am incredibly biased and opinionated when it comes to hsm, so it is probably an unfair comment to make, but it is mine to make. if she does get cast, i will have a ‘wait-and-see’ approach because i obviously have absolutely nothing to do with anything involving the ‘new moon’ movie, and will also look into her more and see what else she has done in her career. but since this is all speculation, i won’t waste my time.
ummm she’s pretty but twiight is a serious film vanessa in it would just make the film look like bunch of teeangers joking around then accidentally made a film out of it… i love robert and kristen choose the costars caaaarefully

i dont think she should audition. i mean i have nothing against vanessa but the movies are like kinda indie looking so it would throw it off if they put like huge movie stars in thier. i may be speaking for myself but im tired of seeing the same actors in every movie!

ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I really hope Vanessa isn’t in New Moon. I’ve never really liked her and having her in the movie, I’m sorry to say, would probably ruin the movie for me!!!! Besides, alot of people were complaining that Taylor was too white for a Native American. Look at her! She’s not Native American! (sorry about my rant. I just had to get this off my chest) On a lighter note, Go Team Taylor!! I love you, Taylor!!
I don’t think Vanessa should be in New Moon or any of the other Twilight movies, especially as Leah. I’d rather have somebody fairly unknown who’s good at acting. I’d suggest Q’orianka Kilcher for Leah, she’d be great!
I don’t know if Vanessa can act or not, but hopefully they will make the same great casting choices they did with Twilight. I’d like to see some good lesser known actors used just like in Twilight. Maybe because of budget issues that will be the case. What really stuck me about the video is how great both Ashley and Rachelle looked. I especially liked Ashley’s hair fixed that way. They are both so beautiful. Lucky girls.

I dont want Vanessa Hudgens in ANY twilight saga movies!She’ll ruin them with her cheesieness and her goody too shoes personality. Shes too happy to play Leah and would be too umm….tall to play Jane and she would not be able to make Jane evil.

I hope if they ever listened to the fans, they will do so now, I would say about 99.9% of the fans really don’t want any High School Musical members in the Twilight Saga. What’s next, is Zac going to audition for Felix? GAK!
I honestly don’t want Vanessa Hudgens to be in New Moon. Disney stars aren’t good for movies like this.

I personally wouldn’t like it if they cast any particularly big name celebrity in the Twilight movies, and particularly not Vanessa Hudgens. I’m glad that they picked Robert and Kristen to play the leads, because I wanted them to choose two relatively unknown actors just because the audience will inevitably judge an established actor (like Vanessa Hudgens) and compare his/her role in Twilight to the characters he or she has played before.
So if you see Vanessa playing Leah, for example, most people won’t see her as just Leah. They will see her as Vanessa Hudgens playing Gabriella playing Leah.
Also, the Twilight fandom already has a bad enough rap for attracting over eager, hyperventilating teenybopper fangirls, and adding a HSM cast member would only increase that number. I get embarrassed enough as it is to publicly admit I’m a Twilight fangirl, what with all the negative stereotypes that surround the increasingly rabid (mostly) pre-teen fandom.
Sorry, HSM fangirls. Please catch another bandwagon. This one is full.
oh, and i’ve got to point out that if Vanessa does become Leah, it would be weird seeing her all mad and tough. Imagine her high-toned voice yelling ..That’d only make me laugh during the movie, lol.

well if she can act in the harpy way that Leah does then she’ll be great but to me she always seemed like the nice girl so im not confident on how she’ll turn that around

Anyway, about this whole Vanessa thing… from what I’ve seen she’s an ok actress but she isn’t Leah Clearwater. As far as I know she’s only ever played happy-go-lucky characters and I’m just not sure if she can handle the emotional depth behind Leah Clearwater.
But we need to just chill a little and wait until Summit says something definite- then we bring out the tickle fingers of death. =D

Vanessa as Leah??!! I realize she is suppose to be youngish, but Vanessa is to young looking for Leah!! That is just a bad idea!! I really hope they don’t cast anyone with a Disney kid!!!

whoever said Q’orianka Kilcher to play leah was right on, i think shes perfect for leah. Jodelle Ferland would be perfect for jane. but i dont agree that vanessa should just have the part handed to her..but she has been in thirteen with nikki reed(as an extra) so who knows.

i am thrilled that Taylor is playing Jacob. There is no other person for the role.
As for the Vanessa Hudgens rumors, i agree with everyone who says it just like the Robert Pattinson ordeal that went on when he was cast as Edward. I dont really see her as Jane, but i can see her playing Leah Clearwater. Either way, im excited for New Moon and cant wait for everything along the way
Hopefully Vanessa can step out of the HSM shadow. But I think Karen David from Scorpion King 2 would be a great Leah.

Vanessa would completely screw up the movie!! she would just randomly start singing! honestly you can pretty much grauntee that she will make the part becuase HSM was such a big damn deal (even though they are the worst movies ever and the singing is terrible) the only promeblem is…well…she can’t act! So while (in my opinon) the cast already sucks (bsides Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Green, and Tsylor Lautner) now they want to add another crappy actor? I was SO happy when I found out Taylor’s staying too. YES! I love him. I’m actually more of an Edward girl, but I think Taylor is perfect to play Jacob. Rachelle and Ashley both look gorgeous by the way.
As for Vanessa Hudgens auditioning: Vanessa didn’t even confirm it yet. Maybe she doesn’t audition. But if she does and gets the role, they sure will not depend on her HSM fame. I think she would do just fine. In her new movie, ‘Bandslam’, which comes out around July/August, she plays a totally different character: a much more darker one. She probably has pulled that one off just fine, so she could pull off Leah as well. Just because her HSM character was all happy-go-lucky, doesn’t mean that she is like that or that the Gabriella type is the only character she’s good in playing at.
And remember, everyone was not happy with Robert playing Edward at the beginning too. And now everybody’s all over him.
I’m quite happy that Taylor has been brought back, he definitely worked hard to get back his part…so good job!!
As for Vanessa playing Leah…I’m sorry but she doesn’t fit the image of Leah Clearwater…in the book she is almost a dark beauty but with a bitter heart, for the life of me, I can’t see any darkness or bitterness in her face! who ever wrote down Q’orianka Kilcher as a Leah, after googling her she looks more like the part!
I thought they were trying to make “New Moon” for roughly the same $$$ they spent on “Twilight”. Vanessa Hudgins probably doesn’t come cheap. And, I doubt Disney would agree to let her out her contract. It’s hard to imagine her pulling off any of the characters from NM though.
Maybe they’ll get Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Jonny Depp to play the Volturi! (LOLOLOLOLOL)
