MELISSA ROSENBERG PRAISES ‘ECLIPSE’ DIRECTOR & ‘NEW MOON’ FILMING

Posted May 9th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 6 Comments »

It seems like the New Moon cast and crew are up to date with their technology nowadays, because we are getting internet updates left and right from them. First we had Volturi members Jamie Campbell-Bower and Michael Sheen Twittering about everything from their wardrobe to their fellow cast members, and now we have Twilight and New Moon screenplay writer Melissa Rosenberg talking about not only Eclipse director David Slade, but the atmosphere on the New Moon set.

Regarding David Slade, Melissa assures Twilight series fans that we are in good hands:

Finally got to spend some time with our new director for Eclipse, David Slade. And I gotta say, he’s great. Very smart, funny, creative. I already knew he was a really talented and visual filmmaker, but now I know he’s terrific to work with as well. Collaborative and, most important (from a writer’s point of view) smart about story, character and emotional arcs. He gets it. And he’s going to make Eclipse into a fantastic movie. So relax Eclipse fans! We’re in good hands.

And lastly, after having been on set, Rosenberg had the following to say about New Moon:

Writing from the set of New Moon, a ridiculously happy place to be. Everyone is having a gas. Especially me. You’d expect at least one person to be snarky after working so hard for so long but I haven’t heard a single sour note.

Chris Weitz is the zen ringmaster doing a fantastic job. The Volturi look amaaaazing. Michael Sheen embodies Aro so completely, elevating the role to a whole new level. Dakota as Jane knocks me out. Rob and Kristen are gorgeous of course and and and… I probably shouldn’t gush so much, no one will believe that everything is perfect but it is!

I think it’s great that Melissa is keeping the Twilight fan base updated on the Twi-related happenings. Since we can’t be there day to day, it’s nice to have reassurance from cast, crew, etc. that things are in good hands and going well. All this talk about the Volturi is making me impatient though – I can’t wait to see promotional pictures!

How do you feel about the things Melissa said? Does it put any of your worries at ease that she seems optimistic about Eclipse and New Moon?

I like her updates, and I appreciate being informed (especially since Summit has been holding out on us so much) But I do hope that Melissa herself is holding up her end of the bargain and not short changing us when it comes to the scripts for NM and Eclipse.

everything on the new moon set sounds amazing! i still want chris weitz to do eclipse though.. ‘about a boy’ and ‘the golden compass’ are great and i personally, don’t like ’30 days of night’ :l

It’s so good to hear that the cast and all involved are getting on well and are actually having a good time. That will hopefully show in their performances. From what was said while filming Twilight, there was so much to deal with during the filming, the words fun or relaxed never came out of the actors mouths. The director sets the tone and it sounds like Chris has things organized so it’s pleasant for everyone. I can’t wait to see the results!

I am excited to get updated info from the inside
I do how ever wish I can get the updated info to send my resume and pics for eclipse…… I know that I can portray Leah Clearwater and Irina because I went threw the things they went threw when it comes to their love lives

Oddly I got really choked up reading this. So it’s good news all around; directors, screenwriter and actors old and new. I can’t wait and I wish I was there – invisible. Oh…

I agree Chris. I’m anxious to see what the Volturi look like. I wonder why we havn’t seen any wolf pictures yet? I can’t wait to get the first trailer and high def photos! I’m still concerned about Melissa Rosenburg’s screen adaptation of Eclipse. It’s my favorite book and I panic slightly at the thought of her mangeling it like she did Twilight.
