FAN BOLT.COM: INTERVIEW WITH JUSTINE WACHSBERGER

Posted August 18th, 2009 By: Evie 9 Comments »

Fan Bolt.com has a brand new, in-depth interview with Justine Wachsberger who plays Gianna in New Moon. Justine talks a bit about her experience with the New Moon cast, the audition experience and her future plans:

Have you read the Twilight books?

Justine Wachsberger: Yeah, all four of them.

Had you read them before you got the role?

Justine Wachsberger: I had seen Twilight, and read briefly the first one. After I got the part, I obviously read New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn.

How was that audition process for you?

Justine Wachsberger: It was stressful, but it was fun at the same time. I auditioned for Heidi originally. At the beginning I started getting stressed out when I started hearing casting rumors about who had gotten the part. After about three weeks after auditioning, I got a call saying that I got cast as Gianna.

What was the filming experience like for you?

Justine Wachsberger: It was crazy. I mean it was exciting. I got to go to Vancouver and meet all of the cast members. It was great working with Chris; he’s an amazing director. The whole crew and cast were really nice and down to earth. It was just really fun.

How long were you filming for?

Justine Wachsberger: For a week, approximately.

Does your role follow the character from the book closely?

Justine Wachsberger: Yeah, it pretty much does. Gianna is a complex character in a sense that you don’t really know what her motivations are for working for the Volturi. You don’t really understand her motivations in the book, and I feel like the movie lets that mystery go on.

You can read this entire three page interview here.

Justine looks great for Gianna. I’m surprised she could be back for Breaking Dawn, but I guess the it is mentioned that the Volturi bring everyone with them.

What did you think of this interview? Is this how you see Gianna?

Why would she be back for Breaking Dawn isn’t she dead by then? Stephenie Meyer said in second concert in the concert series that she didnt make the cut, that was one of the hazards for working for the Volturi.

  • Jennifer

    I know right.

  • tweeb

She obviously didnt read the books closely enough. Gianna is not complex. She knows exactly what is going on in hopes she will be turned rather than murdered. No big mystery there. she wants to be immortal.

I wish that the Twilight Saga casting director would actually pick people who know about the characters FIRST, maybe offer a little better insight on WHO they are playing.

  • Chris

I don’t agree with the part about Gianna being a complex character, only because Edward sized her up as hoping to be “changed” to become one of the Volturi.

  • Chris

I don’t recall anything about Gianna being killed.

  • http://twilightersanonymous Marianne

I also don’t see Gianna as a complex character either, how complex can she be if she only has like 2 lines. Chris is right, Edward sees exactly what she hopes for and it’s pretty straight forward. I still don’t see why the Volturi would bring the receptionist to the confrontation with the Cullen’s in BD, unless she had been turned. I don’t believe they would bring a human along, what would be the purpose? But I’ve never read anything else about her outside of her part in New Moon.

  • Chelle

Maybe they’ll bring her back in BD as a vampire? Only explanation left, at the end, the whole Volturi population was there right? Time to crack open that special ed BD, I want to know what SM said on that DVD. But then if she’s brought back as a vampire, what would be the point of having her as a cast member to just blend in with the crowd? Dramatic purposes? A former-human-now-a-vampire effect? Oh well, whatever it is, I’m just happy for another BD film confirmation.

  • Chelle

Or maybe she’s getting herself confused with Heidi’s character since she originally auditioned for that one! Ok, just a P.S. thought =)

  • Meg

tweeb, Chris, Marianne – I agree with you guys. How is she a complex character? Gianna is a minor, minor character with what? 5 lines max? And yes, she obviously didn’t do her research because Edward read her mind, she is just hoping to be turned into a vampire, so we know her motivations. Her character isn’t a very important part of New Moon at all and it seems like she thinks she is, no one is thinking of her while watching Kristen, Rob, or Taylor on screen.
