FEARNET: DIRECTOR DAVID SLADE TALKS ‘ECLIPSE’

Posted June 13th, 2009 By: Team Switzerland 38 Comments »

FearNet recently caught up with David Slade, director of the third film in the Twilight saga, Eclipse, at an autograph signing and got an exclusive new interview. In the brief interview, Slade talks of his plans for the film, how close he’ll stick to the book, and more:

Edit (6-15-09): Fearnet has updated their interview with David Slade, as they had previously misquoted him. The updated interview can be found below:

“One of the cool things about shooting a movie based on a book is that it is not a film the studio can really change,” he tells us. “Not that the studio would want to change anything, of course!” David promises that they will stick close to the book – there is no sense in changing the story at all.’ Hit the jump for more.

What will differ about Slade’s Twilight? “I don’t really know. We haven’t even started shooting yet.” While the director says he has a basic idea of what he wants to do with it, he is more concerned with telling a good story than being “different.” “It is darker, and there is a lot more action than the previous two,” he admits. “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.” And just how will he do that? “We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jacob, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”

David didn’t read the books until the studio was interested in bringing him in – then he did his homework. “It was tough for a middle-aged man to get into,” he admits, “from the point of view of a 17 year old girl. But once I got past that, I found them to be really good stories.” He is especially excited about the great script from Dexter writer/producer Melissa Rosenberg. Right now, they are still in preproduction, with plans to start shooting later in the year.

I really like that David said there is no sense in changing the story. I think the story is great as is, and I’m glad he feels the same way. I know the books aren’t exactly geared toward him but I feel like he has an appreciation for the story and I’m eager to see what he does with the film.

What do you think about this new interview? What are you most looking forward to seeing in Eclipse? Do you think David will do the book justice?

For some reason I have more reservations regarding Mr. Slade directing Eclipse. While it is true that the book is darker than the first two and has a pivotal fight scene with the Newborn Vampires. I have some reservations with him directing. Probably because of his negativity of the movie/Books prior to being asked to direct. Also in this interview he says that the books are geared towards 15 year old girls. I hope that he understands that the fan base is so much more diverse than 15 year olds. I know that Stephanie and Summit are commited to keeping the Saga as close to the books as possible, for this I am glad for their involvement. I am excited/nervous/cautious/antsy to see what Mr. Slade does with this. I hope this doesnt come across in a negative fashion…just a concerned Twilighter! LOL

  • Chelle

Christina: I had the same initial impression as you did. I don’t know what it is about this interview, but I didn’t get that feeling of confidence that he cares about the book. Maybe it was that answer regarding the story being aimed at 15 year olds.

Eclipse is darker and had more action, yes, but there was so much humor in there too. I hope they don’t fail to incorporate those memorable moments between Edward, Bella and Jacob.

I’ve never seen any of his previous films. I’m wondering how Summit goes about choosing their directors for these films. I guess maybe this interview didn’t convey enough tone of excitement or passion? Well I guess we’ll just have to wait and see… hopefully our worries will have no merit once they start shooting.

  • Twilight Mom Australia

Ditto Christina, I am also a bit excited/nervous/cautious/antsy to see what Mr. Slade does with this. The comment about the 15 year olds worries me a bit, too, I think most of the fans are older. But I did give him that, that he read the books, and found them good books and a great story, so. he admits. “The third book is from Bella’s point of view, but the film will be more objective.” And just how will he do that? “We are going to focus on the origin stories of several characters, like Jacob, and show how Bella will decide between Edward and Jacob.”
Eclipse in my favorite book,(I think I have already said the somewhere.. ) I love the tent part when Jacob is in the sleeping bag with Bella and poor Edward is in the corner of the tent, I lost count of how many times I have read and re-read that part, and in the morning when Jacob makes Bella kiss her and she feels ever so guilty afterwards, I hope David does not leave that part out. I think the Fight scene with the Newborns might be awesome (30 days of Night)? Again like with Chris Weitz we need to have faith, X our fingers and hope for the best.

  • amber

I dont really like him. He hasnt started filimg yet and i dont like him. I dont think he has that twilight quality in him to make the movie, i wish they had sombody else. And he doesnt seem to be big of a fan than most of us, and i dont think the books were just made for 15 years olds so when he said that, that just made me more mad at him. Like Christina said above me, the books are more diverse. Well I dont know you guys, i have a bad feeling about him and im usualy never wrong =(

  • maria

twilight is not at all written for 15 year old girls! stephenie said so in many, many interviews, she only wrote it with herself in mind, what she would like to read, and she is 35.
I have a bad feeling about david slade. what has he done before, any good movies at all??

  • creamy

I would be very curious as to when this interview took place. Mr. Slade says filming hasn’t started. Rob Pattinson clearly said in an interview that he was scheduled to return to Vancouver to finish filming Eclipse. Meaning some had already been done.

What does this mean? Is this a dance of words? Did someone say something they should not have? Has filming begun or not?

The fifteen year old remark is very disconcerting. His attempt to smooth that over by saying they were “quite good books” doesn’t pass the smell test. I’m trying very hard to not read too much into his facial expression, and I’m not just speaking to the photo above. That is the same expression I have seen in every photo of him. Big, smart me…little, dumb you. If you like this sort of book…you are beneath me. OK, my trying hard is not working.

I just don’t have a good feeling about him and the Eclipse movie he will produce. However, I will be delighted to be proved wrong.

  • Lyn

I see both sides. Of course it was hard for a man of Slades age to pick up the Twilight series… ( I refuse to call it SAGA… there is only one SAGA… and Lucas wrote it) It’s probably not a book or would normally pick up at his local B&N and just read on a whim.

I finally got my husband to read Twilight after much debate on the fact that it’s more then just a tween girls romantic novel with vampires.. Just like all of us he got hooked after the first chapter.. But says that his favorite of them all is Eclipe due to it’s deeper intrigue.

Slade wasnt meaning to diss the series.. He was just being honest in his words. Personally.. I like his work.. And if he was willing to go out of his comfort zone and read the books.. I respect him all the more.. You have NO idea how many directers wouldn’s do that sort of thing.. Some just go off of the screenplay and never read any other material or do any research..

Everyone had reserves about Weitz in the begining. But when that first trailer came out we were all excited.. Relax… give the man a chance and I’m sure in the coming months we will all be singing his praises.

  • Donna Hames

i think we should give him a chance he might just surprise us after alkl he is only the director its all depending on the scriptwriters and what they have done and how he expects the the direction of the script to go from the script i sure hope they commission Breaking Dawn as that is my favourite Book out of all of them t hope they find a way to do that

  • Carly

I hate to say it, but I still have reservations about David Slade as well. Chris Weitz is just so compassionate and so blasted committed to making an amazing movie that stays true to the book. Slade seems like he is in it for different reasons. He said he had a hard time getting into the books and he still believes they are just for 15-year old girls. How can he not know by now that the fanbase is so much broader than that? Stephenie has said that she never intended for the books to be geared towards teenagers, but that she just wrote the story in her head. Chris is constantly communicating with Stephenie to make sure he is doing justice to the books and I’m not sure if David cares enough to do that as much. I worry that he won’t put his heart and soul into the movie because he’s just making it for “a group of teenagers who don’t care about quality.”

Eclipse has tons of very pivotal parts to the story and “love scenes” that have to be given enough time and attention to make the movie a success. I hope he realizes this.

Meanwhile, I’m serious, what do we need to do to convince Summit to hire Chris Weitz to direct Breaking Dawn? I think he’s the only one who could do it justice!

  • Kirsten

Im VERY excited for David Slade to direct Eclipse… this guy made 30 Days Of Night… so im hoping he makes the newborns CREEPY as hell! Id like to see Eclipse be all dark and scary! I think he will do a good job of showing that :)

  • soul

isn’t there some way that we could send him something that shows that the books are not only for teenagers? I actually think that the fanbase is bigger from 20 years old and up. Obviously there is a big fan base of teens but they need to know that is not only for 14 year old girls. if he would only see the fan sites like this one and read comments he will see that most of us are not teens.
Well that said, I hope he will do a good job because I’m pretty sure Chris is doing an amazing job.

ps. I really really hope they choose Chris for BD, I know we haven’t seen NM but he just sounds like he gets it.

  • Chris

Interesting picture of David Slade. In the U.S. the two fingers up could mean Victory – but in the UK, it means “fu”. And that’s a double fu. Hmmm. I’m “sure” it has nothing to do with the fans request that he stick to the book…. (is this one of those moody times where I should keep my mouth shut?).

SO – on a positive note, I’m “certain” Slade will comply with fans, author, cast and make Eclipse even better than New Moon. Right?

  • http://twilightersanonymous Marianne

Eclipse is my favorite book of the 4. I’m glad to hear that he thinks there is no need to change the story, phewwww. Now let’s hope Melissa doesn’t either. CW is also a writer and I think he did a lot of fixing up of the script for New Moon.
I really would like to see the background of the Cullen’s in there (Jas,Roz) the night Edward took Bella hostage, the tent scene and both fighting scenes. We have to see Victoria meet her demise. Of course the back and forth between Bella & Jacob, although those parts make me angry but that’s an important emotion to feel along with the romance, comes the pain and sorrow.
I just saw 30 days of Night, scary, and pretty gory but very realistic.
I too am a concerned twilighter, think about us and at least try to make us happy. Please.

  • creamy

I too have seen 30 Days of Night. I can not tell you the level of negative emotion I feel when I read of this film being referenced and used as a reason for David Slade to direct Eclipse.

30 Days was a gory, harsh film. The newborn battle in Eclipse isn’t even portrayed except through the mind of Edward. It is described as he sees it with his vision. Despite Bella’s concerns, it is looked at by the Cullens as an enjoyable adventure, with the exception of Carlise and probably Esme. The build up to the battle is more intense than the battle itself.

Yes, the fight between Edward, Victoria and Riley was quite gruesome, but again, it lasted perhaps ten minutes? Based on this, Summit chose David Slade? I hope there will be some redeeming trailer footage mighty quick. It will take a flood of leaks on the order we have seen from New Moon to quell my newly hatched fears.

  • Olga

After reading Mr. Slade’s remarks I did not get the impression that he really cares about the project or has given it much thought. If they are scheduled to begin shooting in August one would think he’d have a much more concrete idea of what he wants to do, what course to take than “I don’t really know”. Does he suppose he’ll be able to direct a great movie making it up as he goes? If that is the case I hope he is a cinematographic genius. At this point I have more confidence in Chris Weiz’s work when it comes to the Twilight series movies than I do in David Slade’s.

  • Sandy

    God!
    I just hate him!!!
He is going to change the story!!!
I mean, even thought he says there is no sense on changing it, he is saying the story is not gonna be from Bella’s POV!!!! What does that mean??? It means he is NOT gonna stay true to the book!!!!

Plus…. Eclipse… darker??? No! It is happier, maybe a little stressful because of all the things on Bella’s mind, but not darker!!! Gon I can imagine how the movie will look…. a bad copy of “30 days of night”???….

He doesn’t know anything about the scent of the book!!! nothing at all!!! And he hates them… and he doesn’t like them!!! Plus he doesn’t even care about Twilight fans!!!!
Come on! 15 years old girls???? He’s mad! Even people on their 50s read Twilight, not only girls, also boys!!!!

    He is gonna ruin Eclipse!!!
I don’t want him, he should start worrying a bit more!!!
Chris always give us clear talks about how New Moon were going to be, he always said that the film will be strictly true to the book! Tis David guy is not doing that! He is telling us “I’m going to do what I wanna do, and I don’t care about anything else”!!!

Was this man the best summit could find to direct our most beloved vampire story!!!! What were they thinking when they said he was the right one??? NOOOO HE IS NOT!!!!!
HE DOESN’T EVEN KNEW THE SAGA, HE DOESN’T EVEN LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!

If he stay with that attitud he surely will ruin Eclipse!!!!
Hope some kind of miracle happen and he stay OUT of this project!!!!!

just HATE HIM!!! He started sooo bad!!!!!

  • kijo921

Oh, how I agree with sooo many of you! I do feel that anxious hesitation to put my faith in this man. After seeing Weitz’s abilities (what we’ve followed in stills and with the trailer), it just sounds like he’s riding on a bandwagon because he “KNOWS” it’ll be successful with such a large fanbase. I don’t think that Summit realizes the backlash they will suffer if Slade fails to bring us the ‘Eclipse’ we all know and love! I’m willing to have faith; BUT, you guys are right, he doesn’t seem to have the passion the past two directors have shown. I do stand a little worried at this point.

  • Wanda

I really don’t get a good vibe from Mr. Slade..first of all I am 28 year old mother of three and I love the Twilight saga so I don’t believe these books are geared towards 15 year olds..I’m almost certain when Stephenie wrote these books she didn’t think only teens will read this..its a beautiful story she is telling and I don’t think this guy has a clue..how can you direct a movie if you really can’t understand the story? And lastly what a horrible pic!

  • carmen

yeah i agree with most everyone else…this guy makes me a little iffy about directing Eclipse. New Moon isn’t even out yet and I’m already gushing with happiness over the little that we’ve got to see of Chris’s work. So, maybe I’m wrong, maybe I’m right. Who knows? I’m just nervous, but who wouldn’t be right? I didn’t really picture the new born’s being THAT creepy. I mean, they were creepy but not creepy enough to make a little kid cry. But that’s just me. I also didn’t like his remark about the series being written for 15 year olds. If he would’ve done his homework right, he would’ve known that the series was written for any age group. So yeah, I think those few remarks he made are enough to make us Twilighters a little nervous! But that’s just our nature. We want these movies to be perfect, but that’s pretty much impossible. Am I right fellow Twilighters?

  • Carly

    Creamy,
Eclipse has not begun filming yet. It won’t begin until this fall. New Moon just wrapped last month, so I don’t know where that information came from, but it is incorrect.

  • kijo921

First of all, Sandy… RELAX! There is not a whole lot we, twilighters, can do about Summit’s choice of directors. We can voice our opinions and hope they take notice. However, we should do it rationally and not sound like a ranting 15-year-old (sorry if you are one). I think Summit people or movie people or whoever might actually follow some of these sites because they DO want to know the fans’ opinions about things; however, we should also be cautious with our words. These blogs are not made to piss people off but to show them our concern!

Also, carmen, I felt the same about the creepiness level of the newborns. I didn’t think of them as being creepy so much as possessed by and drawn to Bella without any control of their own. I thought of them like hunting dogs. Anyway, we DO want all of the movies to be PERFECT. Hard to do? Yes! Will we always expect it? OF COURSE!!!!

  • Chelle

Oh my, when I put in my comment it was only Christina’s that was up there, and as I put in my thoughts I was hoping that when the comments started to pour in that you all would have something more positive to say to ease the worries, but I see pretty much everyone is on the same page and that worries me even more! I was hoping I was just being paranoid when I read this interview. And I was hesitant to say it in writing, but like Wanda said, that is, indeed, a horrible picture! I just can’t imagine him bringing out beloved book to life =/

The date on the interview is current! Gawd, he should have a cemented plan by now how he’s going to approach this movie! And he should know how to appease the fans when he’s doing his interviews too. I read nothing that pertained to fans’ concerns at all on this.

Creamy I did read somewhere that some scenes for Eclipse were shot simultaneously in Vancouver while there filming NM. I hope Slade redeems himself soon, yet again.

  • darlenecullen

Carly, you are so right about the time for filming Eclipse. I know Rob is in N.Y. right now and he begins filming “Remember Me” Mon. June 15. I’m so excited he’s here now,by me,in N.Y. June 15 is my birthday and my daughter and myself are going into the city. Maybe by some GOD forsaken MIRACLE, we’ll run into him. I’ll let you all know.
As far as the interview,I feel the same as you all,but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. He may shock us all. Remember the way everyone felt about Rob playing Edward? Not me though. I loved him, even in Harry Potter.

  • akbkwolf

I am also very concerned. Why make Eclipse gory? Dark? Yes, it has a fight scene in it and a major one – though we don’t “see” it in the book, what we “see” is Edward’s description and we don’t see blood and guts. Yes, the scene with Edward, Bella, Seth and Riley is intense. Let’s hope Slade remembers that this is not a horror film, but a romance. Let’s hope he and Summit remember the focus is on Edward, Bella and Jacob and their entanglements, NOT on the necessity to make the movie more violent to get more viewers. Unfortunately, the changing of the books are not actually the Director’s doing it’s the screen writer and I HATE Rosenberg. She destroyed Twilight (leaving SO much of the good stuff out and adding the crap to the book rather than using what Stephanie gave her), she was actually going to LEAVE OUT THE 3 WAY DATE SCENE between Jacob, Bella and Mike!!! How in the heck can ANYONE in their right mind think of doing that? That scene is when Jacob makes his promise to Bella to always be there for her — VERY IMPORTANT! Apparently (according to an interview of Mike Walsh/Mike Newton – Kristen and Taylor had to FIGHT to get the scene put into the movie!!!!!!!!). This woman needs to be removed before she destroys Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. I am scared of what Slade will do with Eclipse as gore seems to be his main attraction for Summit, but more afraid of what the combination of both Rosenberg and Slade will do to Eclipse. Will we be able to recognize Eclipse at all??

  • Christina

So it seems that many people feel they same way as I do. I remember these same feelings when Mr. Weitz was brought on. Mr Weitz has won many of us over with that minute and a half first trailer (still amazed after oh…a million in a half views from me!) I am hopefull that Mr. Slade will bring a new edge to the movie, while continuing to recognize the importance of the books to the millions of fans world wide. I still have the reservations with him but I wanted to post some hope out there! I have to go back to an email that he sent that was posted on this website… this comment is my glimmer of hope!
“I would like to reassure everyone involved that I am invested in making the best film that I am humanly capable of, and that I am acutely aware of the power of the original books we serve.

Please be rest assured this statement is absolutely from the heart.”

    yours sincerely

    DAVID SLADE”

Crossing my fingers for an amazing Eclipse on the horizon!!

  • katie

    *sigh*
im slightly worried about Slade directing Eclipse. I would be disappointed if he made Eclipse for only 15 year olds as I like to see a bit of variety, pluss I think that most Twilight Saga fans are over 15 (like my mom and nan believe it or not xD)
Hopefully he doesn’t focus too much on the relationship between Edward, Bella and Jacob – i know that’s one of the main parts of the book, but there is other stuff going on as well, so hopefully he includes that as well as their relationship.
I hope Slade does a good job of Eclipse and doesnt get new actors in for any of the characters – it wouldn’t be the same if there was a new Bella, Jacob, or Edward and so on. All the actors are good at their parts, and it would be an aweful shame to see them go.
    *fingers crossed*
if he does a crap job, I think we should step in and direct it together! lol

  • Basaxl Griffin

Ok,because of Slade,I’ll gladly out myself.I am 21 with 40 years experience.Add it up,I’m 61 yrs old and I devoured The Twilight Saga.I’ll admit it,I’m hooked bigtime.I’d buy the book written from the POV of each character. The movie was ok,better than I thought it would be.I thought the casting inspired.I thought CH did a wonderful job directing.I wish she’d come back for the third movie.Sigh! I wouldn’t have minded if each book were made into two movies.Follow the books and I’m there for the movies.
    Peace

  • Ethelred

15 yr old girls?? Dude, please. Im a 29 yr old guy who loves the saga.

I dont want this guy directing anything Twilight related.

Summit, wake up. Apologize to Catherine, and get her back… NOW.

  • Chris

Sandy, I really appreciate your honest thoughts and emotions. I’m worried – many of us are.

The comment about “15 year old girls” was really off and Slade may eat his words. The scary part is that if he really believes that 15 year olds are the only demographic the book is reaching. It would mean he has no clue to the depth of the book and the way it has realistically closed the generation gap. I’ve read about “Twilight Grandmas” in their 60′s and 70′s reading the book and those “teen” comments just cause those older fans to hide out in fear of being open about their passion.

I have two adult son’s who are just as “over the edge” about Twilight as I am and we talk about the actors, directors, books, plots, scripts, and everything else about it on a daily basis. Similar to coming here and getting all the new news.

Is Slade so tunnel visioned in his belief that this movie/book is for teens??? Is he really not seeing the whole picture? Does he not watch TV or follow Entertainment news? He’s a Director? What about the $400,000,00 to date that Twilight has earned. You’d think he would be more tuned in to the audience he’s about to get very intimate with. Or at least seek us out. He’s seems incredibly arrogant to me and a bit full of himself. However, there are more of us than there is of him and there’s power in our hands. I can’t abide by the possibility of him ruining Eclipse. Directors have been known to be replaced in the middle of filming.

I hope somebody up there is listening.

Lastly: Currently Titanic is the #1 box office keader for opening weekend. I have a feeling it’s going to get knocked off it’s pedestal come November 20th, and I can’t think of a better film than New Moon to do the knocking. Hence the pressure for Eclipse to exceed NM.

    Slade, “We’ll be watching”

  • Sandi

As long as he sticks very close to the book all the way through and doesn’t leave out the sleeping bad scene I’ll be happy. LOL!

  • jenb

I’m still not sure how I feel about David directing Eclipse. I honestly haven’t seen any of his work, but he doesn’t seem like the type to direct a story like Eclipse. I am going to try to reserve judgement until the final product comes out & I see it. (Which is too far away! Next summer? Man that’s a long time to wait.) I just really hope he reads the saga, and Eclipse becomes his “bible”. I also really hope that Stephenie is in contact with him and maybe giving ideas and feedback. (I’ve wondered why she hasn’t come out and said anything about David like she did with Chris. I think if we heard from Stephenie and her thoughts on him directing it that fans, myself included, would feel a little better.)

  • http://twilightersanonymous Marianne

Well, when I posted my first comment I was a concerned twilight fan, after reading all the posts, now I’m worried fan. I really would hate to see my favorite book of the saga be taken in a direction that will take the heart out of it.

Chris: I sure hope he doesn’t have tunnel vision about these books being meant for 15 yr olds. I am so far from a 15 yr old it would make your head spin. That’s why ,when he said he didn’t know how his film would differ from twilight, and reading all the comments here, it makes me wonder when he will figure that out? I hope not as he goes along as did Catherine in a large portion of the first film did, or rather it look and sounded like she did. The example being some of her comments on the dvd.

I hope that when we get some behind the scene info.and photos he will prove us wrong. They once again have taken us from ANGST to EUPHORIA back to ANGST.

  • creamy

I read the comment about Eclipse in an interview with Rob Pattinson. He was outlining his schedule for the next year or so. He said he was off to New York, which is where I believe he is now. He said after that he was returning to Vancouver to finish filming Eclipse. I took that to mean some parts had already been filmed.

I had also read that while the cast was in Vancouver for NM, and David Slade was there also, some filming for Eclipse took place. As to the veracity of this information, I can not vouch.

  • Kay

I wonder if Kathryn Bigelow was ever approached about directing the series. From the moment the Twilight filmmaking began, I’d hoped that she would be considered, paticularly for Eclipse. She’s very talented in that her films are quite intense, edgy, dark, and gritty and appeal to both men and women. She wrote and directed one of the best vampire/ horror/ bizarre romance movies out there–Near Dark, an exceedingly better movie than 30 Days of Night. In general, Kathryn’s film history is most impressive,–Point Break, Strange Days, Blue Steel, Weight of Water and now the upcoming The Hurt Locker which is already receiving great reviews; even her misses still have bite. I don’t mind Summit choosing a man to direct (what seems to be) the rest of the series, but I do mind them picking a male director based on his past experience with the vampire genre that’s mediocre at best; particularly since Kathryn’s vampire film is considered a cult classic. Maybe she was asked and said “no thanks,” but there’s been no buzz that such a thing happened. Nonetheless, it’s disappointing she’s not involved. I think she would have done an excellent job with Eclipse.

  • Carol

Summit should tell Slade to say “no comment” when asked about the film. I was not happy they chose him but I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but I am less and less sure.

I loved “30 days of night”, it was a horror film Eclipse it not. Maybe I am wrong but there is so much more to story than the fight with the newborns. I hope he can do the book justice!

  • sterlingstreak

Eeyuck! I tried watching 30 Days of Night on cable the other day, and it was so disgusting I turned it off in less than 30 seconds. I didn’t know what to expect with Chris, having never seen (to my knowledge) his work, but one is always cautious with something they consider precious (aka New Moon). However, the thought of Mr. Slade, who isn’t even a fan of the series, putting his own gorey slant on a love story… it makes my faith in Summit take a serious nosedive. What in the HECK were they thinking?!? Makes me want to completely ditch the series after NM and go back to the books exclusively. Ick, I say! ICK!!!

  • kelly

i think he is going to be a good director because he is going to stick to the book and thats alll i want i dont want them to change anything the book is perfect and i want to see it come to life!!

  • txsuncloud9

I am a 35 year old mother of 6, my oldest daughter..15 and my other 2 sisters, and I have read and talked about the saga over and over, I agree that this director makes me nervous as well, the book is not DARK, We all took it as being a more serious book but oh soooo much more intimate between Edward and Bella. I was just a little worried….I hope we are WRONG!!
