FORBES: STEPHENIE MEYER IS THE #26 MOST POWERFUL CELEBRITY

Forbes has released their list of The World’s Most Powerful Celebrities, and Stephenie Meyer has landed herself a spot on the list! Stephenie came in at #26, ahead of tennis star Roger Federer, and right behind TV personality Simon Cowell.

 

Thanks to the success of Meyer’s Twilight series, 2008 became the year of the vampire. The low-profile author sold 29 million books last year, releasing two new novels (Breaking Dawn and The Host) and selling hoards of paperbacks of what have become instant classics (Twilight, Eclipse and New Moon). Last November, gothy fans camped out to catch the first film based on the series; Twilight grossed $70 million opening weekend. A partial rough draft of the fifth Twilight book leaked online last August; Meyer published the full draft on her Web site and announced the book wouldn’t be published.

A huge congratulations to Stephenie! This is a big honor and I’d say she deserves to be on the list, hands down. It’s very impressive that she’s so high on the list, and I can’t help but wonder if she’ll be even higher up next year…?

    Yes she deffinately deserves to be on this list! She’s just like JK Rowling. The womans imagination landed her a gold mine! I just made her richer by purchasing all four audio books for my ipod. I was sick of my sons ripping the pages out of my books…ugh, toddlers.

    she deserves it so much, she put so much effort into her books and it about time she got some credit for the books she writin. Am so happy for her am a big fan of twligths and i love her style of wrtting she a great writer. everyone is buying them becuase they are good books and fab films so yeah i think she be on top for a couple of years she has my vote all the way! she great x

    That must have been such an accomplishement for her. She has created such powerful books, and especially because of the Twilight Saga has created such a phenomenom, it is on a different level to Harry Potter, but she is an equally good author as J.K Rowling. She is an inspiration to young people. It must be such a good feeling to see such great fandom because of the books that she created… these Holy books that people almost worship, she must be feeling on top of the world. She is rolling in a gold mine… because people who had not read the books before the movie came out, have read them after. I really hope she decides to publish Midnight Sun, because I believe that Edward deserves to have his story told, even though we know what happens in that book, it would be really intessting to see it from Edward’s perspective, because we don’t really see how much he has to suffer.

    I’m sorry but what??? She announced the 5th book wouldn’t be published? Please tell me this is old news. I thought she was currently working on #5.

    On the lighter side: Congratulations Stephenie! This is amazing. She never thought anything like this would happen. I think Stephenie and her Edward (Rob) are both in similar situations (without Stephenie being stalked). =) What a huge life change! Honestly, if anyone earned/deserves this it’s her. She and Rob have the RIGHT personalities/attitudes for this kind of acclaim. It couldn’t have happened to two better people.

    Now THIS is the kind of news I like to read about and see on TV.

    I didn’t even know about the list but now that I do I know she should be on there. Definitely!!!! Congrates Stephenie!!!!

    Yeah, I had heard also that she was still going to write Midnight Sun just not for a while. There is no definite date when it will come out. That is what I heard.
