HOT TOPIC TWILIGHT SOUNDTRACK PARTY – CD REVIEWS

Posted October 25th, 2008 By: Team Switzerland 7 Comments »

We asked those of you who went to the Hot Topic Twilight Soundtrack party to submit your pictures and reviews to us, and because TA members are made of awesome, we got a great response. We’ve compiled some excerpts of a few reviews for your interest:

As a warning, these reviews are full of soundtrack spoilers, so please refrain from reading them if you don’t want to be spoiled!

Julie – Rhode Island:

I got to the store just about 7 pm and so caught the soundtrack from the beginning, “Decode” sounded really good on their speaker system. I have to admit I liked “Full Moon” as well. All the music sounds so much better with a good speaker system. It was rather busy there so it was a bit difficult to hear all of the music. I am sorry to say I couldn’t figure out which song was Rob’s because which ever one it was, it didn’t sound like I expected it to. But I must have liked it as I was dancing through the aisles with my merchandise the whole time. I am a bit disappointed with the lullaby. It was too Hollywood for me. I expected a sweet piano piece as that is how Edward played it. It was in my opinion, after only hearing it once, too lush and included other instruments. It wasn’t something you could see Edward playing without a quartet or more. Just my opinion though. I am sure after I hear it a few times, I will like it a lot more.

Sara – Florida:

Well, between the fangirl sqeaking, and the many chattering of excited fans, the soundtrack was only so audible to my ears, but what I heard I loved! There where tons of people, and I made tons of new friends. Between me and my sister we where least expecting to like Rob’s song, but we ended up swooning to it. It sounded absolutly amazing! On top of this, it sounded like they remixed a few of the songs. My favorite’s were Never Think, Flightless Bird, American Mouth, and Decoded. All in all the soundtrack is an A-.

Zophie:

Just got back from the party! The music is pretty good. It’s a solid soundtrack. Rob’s song is very sweet. It’s an acoustic guitar for awhile until his GORGEOUS voice is added to it. I melt. Bella’s Lullaby is instrumental but there is a piano that plays with it. I think it’s to give us both the instrumental love theme and piano in one track. I’m hoping Rob plays it straight piano in the film.

Evie – Texas:

Many of the songs on the soundtrack I’d already heard as I can’t resist the TA news. The two main ones everyone was waiting to hear were Rob Pattinson’s song and Bella’s Lullaby. Rob is of course wonderful. Like Edward, is there anything the guy can’t do? Bella’s Lullaby I’m not quite sold on. I think as I hear it more, and see it in context it will grow on me. The rest of the soundtrack to me is fitting. It sounds like a soundtrack that will bring the Twilight story to life.

Thank you immensely to all of those who submitted your reviews, we really appreciate it and loved reading them!

I am going to admit, the general opinion of “Bella’s Lullaby” has me a bit worried of how it will translate on film. However, I am going to give it (and the rest of the soundtrack) a fair shot and not judge it until I’ve listened to them in their entirety and heard them in the film.

What do you think after reading these reviews? Are you nervous about a particular song and how it will reflect on the movie?

I have to admit, Robert’s voice melts me. His song was beautiful. The song that has me worried is Bella’s Lullaby. I mean sure, it’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but. . it doesn’t sound like a lullaby to me. And I am interested to see if they’ll have Edward hum it to Bella as she drift to sleep. If so, Robert’s got talent. That isn’t a song I see being easy to hum lol.

I went to the Twilight party and I think it’s and overall good soundtrack. There are a COUPLE of songs that I’m not fond of, like Full Moon, and Paramore’s I Caught Myself, MAYBE they’ll grow on me. Rob’s song I have to hear again becaused I BARELY heard it let alone understood what he was saying, but from what I DID hear his voice sounds lovely. The lullaby at the start of it worried me because I KNOW that in the book and the movie there isn’t a FULL orchestra behind him. But I think they made it better for the soundtrack, I know that it won’t be like that in the movie. But overall it’s pretty good. Tremble for my beloved earned my appreciation, because before I DIDN’T like it, but now I do.

I went to the Hot Topic listening party…got a shirt, pins, and a keychain. Have to admit the main reason I was there was to listen to Rob’s song, “Never Think.” He did NOT disappoint–at all! He truly is a gifted person–not only in the field of acting, but music, as well. It’s so impressive he composed the song himself, played the guitar, and sang it. Just when you think this guy has dazzled you enough, he dazzles you EVEN MORE. Yes, I’m smitten…like nearly everyone else out there. I have to agree w/the masses that I wasn’t super impressed w/Bella’s lullaby…I guess I was just expecting a piano solo…not all the accompanying instruments. As for the soundtrack as a whole, I wouldn’t say I liked ALL the songs. It was definitely a mixed bag for me, but I will say I gave the soundtrack a 2nd shot…yes, I stayed THAT long…so I could listen to Rob’s beautiful song again…

I went to the party but I barely got to hear ANY of the songs. (some people won’t be quiet lol) But about the lullaby…I got scared when I heard violins and basically an orchestra in the song but in the movie you will just hear the piano part. I barely got to hear Rob’s song..well I heard it but I had no clue what he was saying :( . Tremble for my beloved and of course Decode got my ‘thanks’ they sounded really good over the speakers :)

I missed the soundtrack party because I already had plans w/ a friend but I have heard a few of the songs though. I like “Decode” and “Tremble for my Beloved.” I also think that Bella’s Lullaby was pretty but it doesn’t really sound like a lullaby. It doesn’t sound sweet enough to be something that Edward would have written for Bella. I have tried to listen to “Never Think” but all of the stuff that I find has awful quality and I can’t really make anything out.
