INSTYLE.COM: GETTING ROBERT PATTINSON AND KRISTEN STEWART INTO CHARACTER

Posted March 17th, 2009 By: Evie 5 Comments »

InStyle.com has a great article about the work that went into transforming Rob and Kristen into Bella and Edward, plus they have a Twilight fashion poll and a Twilight beauty flash:

Getting Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart Into Character

The first step in getting Pattinson and Stewart to resemble their characters Edward and Bella was a hair transformation. “Both of their hair colors were from a previous film and needed to be corrected for their Twilight roles,” says Mary Ann Valdes, the movie’s department head hairstylist. To get the right shade, she had the actors try on wigs and when the color was decided on, she sent them to Beverly Hills salon owner Stuart Gavert (with the help of co-colorist Jonathan Castellanos) take care of the coloring.

Perfecting Robert Pattinson’s Color

“The production notes specified Edward as an absolutely stunning and heart stopping young man, with creamy gleaming skin, golden eyes and hair that looks like marble,” says Gavert. “We created this hair color masterpiece through advanced highlighting techniques and a brand new method that I dubbed “twilights,” which utilizes lighter and darker natural colors to add maximum contrast.”

Wow, a lot of Twilight beauty secrets in this post. I love how all of the Twilight girls have such different styles, and yet they are all so beautiful. And LOL at getting “Edward” hair!! I’m not entirely certain anyone can replicate Rob’s hair.

Are you going to try any of these beauty tips? Are you going try and make a guy try some “Edward” hair?

    A few things:

    1) Where do I sign-up for these “twilights”?
    2) How will it cost? (Oh, heck it is Beverly Hills!)
    3) Could I work off my new “twilights” if I do not have enough $$ ?
    4) I wish their website listed prices!!!

More new stuff! Okay! We have all heard about the scratchy and irritable contact lenses the cast has to wear as vampires… where can we get them? Hopefully at a lower price! :)

The thing that surprises me the most about the work put into their hair color is: I did not see the results.

The photo shown of Rob standing against the car (above) is one of the few in the entire movie that his hair actually looked bronze as Stephenie descibed it. When they danced in the gazebo, it also looked that color. I don’t recall any other time in the movie where it looked anything other than brown. Not that he didn’t look good , but I thought for the most part they missed the boat on Edward’s hair color.

I thought Kristen’s hair looked right for Bella, but it just looked like her natural color.

Not concerned about the hair…just excited about New Moon & we twifans know it will be even better. Love the versatile & talented Pattinson.
