Vanessa Hudgens has NOT auditioned for New Moon, her rep tells JustJaredJr.com.The 20-year-old singer/actress reportedly auditioned for the Twilight sequel for the role of werewolf Leah Clearwater.
“I don’t know anything about the audition,” Vanessa’s rep tells JJJ. “As far as I know, it’s just a rumor.”
Seems that Ashley Greene’s comment about Vanessa was taken way out of context because SpoilerTV is reporting that the character of Leah isn’t even being cast for!

Ugh, annoying rumors. I guess we shouldn’t believe anything until we hear it from Summit. I thought MTV was a pretty good source, but I guess not. I’d would much rather believe this is a rumor, maybe even for attention (I think that’s why Copon did it). Look at all the free press he got out of it. What do you think?

It make sense that Leah has not been cast. She does not really factor in until Eclipse. My question is who is Emily?!! Emily is a player in New Moon and nobody is talking about her.
Oh, thank goodness. x.X No offense to Vanessa or anything, she was great in HSM, but I just don’t think she has it in her to play Leah. Sorry Vanessa! :3

Phew! I am soooooo happy! So then, is Leah not in the movies til Eclipse? Oh and Katelyn: it would be actrices estupida… I think.(I’m still learning too.:p)
I’m SO glad that she hasn’t auditioned because she’s not talented enough to even be on screen at all, let alone as Twilight’s Leah.

Hmmph! Why is it always MTV that starts these rumors and then have it come back to bite us in the toosh? I feel bad for those who had their hopes up for Vanessa as Leah even though I don’t want Vanessa to play Leah. But seriously, how come every time we hear a Twilight rumor, it links back to MTV. Like seriously, I want to scream at MTV. I wonder if Vanessa will even consider trying out now?

I too am breathing easier, AND no offense to Vanessa Hudgens. I just think that anyone associated with Disney would not be a good fit. I see them almost everyday (10 yr old and 5 yr old) and Leah needs someone more dark and full of teen angst. MTV, not to show my age but I remember when they were very brand new and all they did was show music videos, Wow - hence the name Music Television and when they’re slogan used to be - Music First. Ah, the good ol days!

but i hated hsm 1-3 , like all disney projects and people, unless in some way a twilight character was associated with diseny or acted for them . i am glad she isnt leah though.
i hope they do cast a leah. i like how SM showed leah’s pain. the girl has been through a lot. i also want to see who plays seth,emily,quil,rebecca, rachel()i know they are not in new moon , but still)and the notorious volturi =]
I have to admit that my 16yr old daughter got me hooked on the Twilight books. And I have to say that I’m quite relieved to hear that this Vanessa audition may be a rumor. Quite frankly I cringed every time I had to listen to a soundtrack or hear a HSM movie in my house when my daughter was about 14. I’m so glad that at nearly 17 she’s outgrown them. So, from a mom’s prospective, please….no Disney stars, no Nickelodeon stars…there are more people than just teens and tweens in love with these books and who are excitedly anticipating the movies.
THANK GOOdNESS for that! no offense to vanessa but i think that she should just stick to movies like HSM cause she’s better at them. i dont think that she had it to be leah. no offense intented.
Oh, thank god it’s just a rumour, I mean, I like Vanessa Hudgens and all, but she’s too… Perky. And if she was Leah, I’d think of HSM everytime I see her on screen.
um…i’ve only read the first two books and this Leah character isn’t even mentioned. The only werewolves in the 2nd book are the original pack of guys (pun intended) and then Emily…so if you ask me this whole rumor should be suspect.

I’m sure Vanessa would have done a good job, but they need to stick with actors that are less famous. That’s one of the reasons the movie was so great! You don’t pay attention to the actors, but the characters they are playing. If it was someone who’s already made a name for themselves like Vanessa, then you loose some of the character to the fame of the actor. I hope they stick with the “cult” feeling that Twilight has, even though it’s gotten so big now. I trust them to make the right choices and am excited to see who they pick for the new roles.

I love the fact that all the actors in Twilight are somewhat new to the big screen and are reserved, It keeps their characters in tact.
I love the fact that they aren’t the type of stars that are flaunted all over the magazines before the movie came out.
I feel it makes the movie just a little more unique.
Especially if she HAD being cast as Leah Clearwater, When the movie comes out, all the attention will be towards her… When it shouldn’t.

Of course it’s a rumor. These are Disney characters,with a big ole fat Disney contract. They aren’t even allowed to walk across the street without the approval of Disney and it astonishes me that no one else figured that out! Unless Disney is taking over the entire Twilight francise (and they are not) their little crew of cuties are staying right where they are! On the Disney channel!
Is anybody else thinking that maybe that whole Emily/Sam/Leah triangle might be not be in the movie? I mean it does serve it’s purpose in the book with explaining the imprinting and all that but maybe Jacob will just mention their history and we never get to meet Emily and Leah won’t appear until Eclipse or something? Anywho I hope if they cast Vanessa, it will be because she’ll do a good job, not because she’s semi-famous.

I’m sure the movie people know what they’re doing. Have we really even seen her in anything else besides HSM? I haven’t. She’s an actress and if she’s able to get this role (which I don’t even see why they would need Leah now…all she does in this movie is talk on the phone at Jacob’s house) I’m sure she’ll be fine. That’s the great thing about acting…you can play a super sweet innocent little high school girl then turn around and play a moody werewolf. That’s why they call it acting. Anyway, I’d can’t wait to see who all they cast. Personally I’m excited to see who they are going to cast as the Volturi…expecially Aro. That’s more important to me than casting Leah.

I just heard today on the radio that they claimed that she had auditioned….so now I don’t know who to believe. I think she would be HORRIBLE as Leah and I hope that even if she has they don’t cast her. I am starting to feel ill. I was so glad when I saw I wasn’t the only person who thought she was so completely wrong for the part. I am still on edge though……HELP! Does anyone have more info on this???

I am not sure about Leah in New Moon, but sure in Eclipse, when they gether around the bonfire, where they tell the ancient stories, as I remember Leah is there with them.

they need to get the right person now because it would be soo much harder to change actress in eclipse or breaking dawn.Like what the almost did to taylor playing jacob.
