‘TWILIGHT’ DEFEATS JAMES BOND; ROBERT PATTINSON GETS SURREAL
KansasCity.com has a short new article about the latest ‘Twilight’ facts and statistics, and it’s pretty interesting (and awesome!) to read!
Here is what they pulled together:
For the end of a big “Twilight” year, we offer five big facts about the movie and books to sink your teeth into:•The movie has grossed $169.9 million since opening six weeks ago, zooming past 007 himself in “Quantum of Solace” and placing eighth (so far) for all of 2008. (See the Top 10 list below.)
•Director Chris Weitz is reportedly in Vancouver, British Columbia, preparing to start filming the sequel, “New Moon,” in March. It’s due out Nov. 20.
•Meanwhile, “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson, sporting a surreal mustache, will appear as artist Salvador Dali in “Little Ashes” (named for one of Dali’s paintings). It’s set to open March 27. See the trailer here.
•Stephenie Meyer’s four novels in the Twilight Saga have now sold 25 million copies worldwide.
•She’s working on a ghost story called Summer House and one or two sequels to her best-selling sci-fi fantasy, The Host.
The Top 10 of 2008
1. The Dark Knight: $530,917,814

10. Horton Hears a Who!: $154,529,439
I loved all these facts and statistics - a few of them made me soo excited! I can’t wait to read Summer House, and of course, I can’t wait for the sequel(s) to The Host.
What do you think about these new facts? Do you think it’s a good sign Chris Weitz is reportedly in Vancouver prepping for the movie - or do you think it’s too rushed? And what about Stephenie’s future book plans - do you plan to read those?

That’s so exciting
I can’t wait for Little Ashes and New Moon to come out.
As for Summer House, I probably will read it. It’s funny she chose to name it that, there’s a movie called Summer House and it’s a ghost story too. I’m looking forward to Stephenie’s story though!
i’m so gonna read her new books!! the ghost one sounds really cool but i wish that she’d continue midnight sun
What’s really weird about that is that Rob did a small British movie called “The Summer House” and it just got a release date of 4/09. The movie has an official webpage, though from what I’ve read of the synopsis, it’s not a ghost story.
The Host was harder to follow (especially after the ease at which one can read the Twilight series), but once I got into it, it really kicked butt! I’m so glad to hear that Stephenie’s got a sequel (or two) in the works. Of course, I’m with everyone else - wishing she’d finish M.S. And while we’re riding the wishing train…can I just say that I would walk through fire for a future telling of Edward’s perspective during New Moon - wouldn’t you?
That new book, The summer house, sounds awsome! She HAS to finish midnight sun some day. I loved it, and it left off just as they were going to the meadow…argh! Ayhoo, Twilight is keeping amazing company dont you think!
I’m just excited that Twilight beat James Bond here in the US! Even Bond cannot kill a vampire! So cool! #8-YAY!
I will read anything SM decides to write-would love Midnight Sun though-hope she finishes it.
As for New Moon and Chris being in Vancouver-I hope and I think he can pull this off-I just hope the script is good and stays close to the book. I think Summit is rushing and no, I don’t like it. But, there is nothing we can do about it. Hopefully, they will listen to him if he/they need more time, Summit will give it. They all want the same thing we do-a great movie.
I can’t wait till New Moon comes out. I fell inlove with Edward since the firdt book and I am hope Midnight Sun is out soon also The Host is really good. It is great that there is going to be sequels.
little ashes… ugh im gunna get soo much crap from ever1 cuz he plays a gay dude. oh well rob is still amazing and it shows he is a good actor! still i dont really wanna c it
lol
You have no idea how excited I am to see Little Ashes. Three friends and I actually already have plans to see it the weekend it comes out, granted there’s actually a theater playing it near us. I just completely fell in love with the trailer, and Robert and Javier look like they’re going to be fantastic, and just…ah. I’m really excited.
(And to anyone who’s upset over Robert playing a homosexual, I have three words for you: get over it. It’s just a movie role. This movie is going to give him so much credibility as an actor and it’s going to do wonders for him. That’s what’s really important, not what his sexual orientation in the film will be. If you’re really that offended by it or opposed to it, then don’t see it. Don’t rain on the parades of Robert’s fans that are actually excited for it.)
I’m also really excited about New Moon. Yes, Summit’s rushing of it worries me, but I have a lot of faith in Chris as a director. As long as he keeps to the story like he promised he would, and hopefully fixes parts of Melissa’s script like I know he’ll have to (and doesn’t hire Michael Copon as Jacob), then I’m sure everything will turn out fine.
I really don’t care that Edward plays a gay guy in Little Ashes, but I don’t plan to see it as I don’t want to see him making out with a guy, and one review talked a fair amount about that. I don’t want those images in mind when seeing the next Twilight movie.
That is very exciting news! I haven’t read any of her other books yet other than the Twilight series. I’m looking forward to reading her others though. While I read them I’m sure I’ll be missing Bella and Edward.
I have to agree w/ Tatum Chan though…I wish she would continue w/ Midnight Sun. I loved reading it from Edward’s point of view. Even though we all knew that he struggled it really gives more depth to it. I can’t help but wonder though…will she do the same thing to the other Twilight books? I certainly wouldn’t mind that one single bit. =D
A sequel to The Host? Can’t anyone have a good idea for a story then move on? Movie & book sequels are getting ridiculous. I thought that book should have stopped before the last chapter too.
Anywho… on that wishing train, MS then Edward’s perspective during the other three as well. I don’t know what’s going on in SM’s head, but the idea of a Midnight series to accompany the Twilight series is enough to send my heart aflutter and my knees go weak. I wish she would just announce if she had decided to finish MS at some point.
Next on my SM wish list is a prequel of Jasper’s backstory. It would be awesome to have a book about the Southern wars. I read in one interview that Leah was a character that interested her, but I’m really not interested in a story from her perspective. I’ll read whatever she writes though. Even if it isn’t what I ‘want’ her to write.
i cant wait for Little Ashes. Robert Pattinson is so talented.
EEEEEEEK!
MY B-DAY IS MARCH 28
Me going to see little Ashes will be my present, but is so sad that Rob had to play a gay dude[ugh]
i think the #1 problem with twilight “the movie” is that it WAS or felt rushed, like the whole thing was in fast forward. i hope they take their time with New Moon who cares if it goes 3 hours (more movie for our buck) i saw Benjamin butn and that was long but didn’t feel rushed, i think it was 2hr 30min N E ways to summit i say: “we don’t mind long movies …please! don’t rush this one!
i Lovedd the Host SOO MUCH !
Can’t Wait for the Sequels.
Hmm Ghost Stories ? We’ll See
Abt tht.
POOR MIDNIGHT SUN . I WANT IT
SO MUCH :[[[[[[[[[[[
Well its Stephenie’s decision so what she says goes.
&& Also the person who leaked MS THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
-___- So messed up.
I just finished reading The Host, and I would love for that story to be continued, but I’m kinda ok with how it ended, too. Confusing, I know, but that’s how I feel. Oh well.
I have my copy of “The Host” currently in my stack of books waiting for me to read.
I like Meyer’s work, and will continue to read what she puts out.
I do wish that she would finish Midnight Sun, but I had to wait a little over a Decade for the Gunslinger Series to be completed by King, so I can wait if I need to.
Fans need to be a bit more understanding, if Ms. Meyer wants to take a break from the Twilight Series and work on other projects, as an aspiring author, I know how hard it is to FORCE yourself to work on a project when you are just not feeling it.
Besides, we have the movies to look forward to, so it’s not like we have NOTHING.
:P
To all of you that don’t want SMeyer to write the rest of the books from Edward’s perspective, don’t worry. Because she’s not going to. Midnight Sun’s the only book she’s rewriting from Edward’s perspective, just so everyone will know Edward as clearly as they know Bella. She doesn’t feel the need, nor does she want, to rewrite the rest of them.
And to those of you that want her to finish MS, don’t worry, because she’s going to. She stated in an interview a month or so ago that she didn’t write that statement on her website (her publicist did, I think) and didn’t mean it when it said the book was going to be on hold definitely. She did say, however, that while she’s going to finish it, it may take another two or more years for it to be released. She doesn’t want to feel the pressure from fans to get it out quickly, so she’s going to do it on her own time when she feels up to it.
Yay, Meyer is writing something new!!! I have been waiting for awhile now, I need something good to sink my teeth into. I have not read the Host,i don’t know why I don’t think I will like it,but everyione I know who read it said it was unbelievable,I’m a purist I guess, I love the Supes, Vampires,Werewolves, shapeshifters Oh my….looking forward to some new material from Meyer though, ghosts will do!
I think it’s awesome that Twilight was the #8 movie of the year. I honestly did not expect it to do that well!
It seems to me like they are rushing the production of NM. I guess if CW thinks he can make a great movie w/that short of time great. I’m excited for it, but I would wait if that meant a good movie.
I would probably read anything SM wrote & published. I’m almost done w/The Host for the first time & so far I like it. (About 150 pages left.) I just really hope in awhile she will decide to pick up MS again and finish it. I was so excited when I heard about it & disappointed/saddened when I heard that it was leaked. I would love to be able to read it & know what’s going on in that boys head & undertand him better!
I am going to wait patiently until “Little Ashes” to come out. What strength Rob has to take on such a challenging role. I hope it will be playing somewhere near my hometown. But, if I have to drive to L.A., then I must. For his movie “How To Be”, I will have to wait for Netflix to have it available. “The Summer House” will be in the theaters April 2009 or out on DVD?
